While you're probably right about the teams likely to go FBS, there's still going to be a large number that don't move up. Where is the money coming from for stadium renovations and NIL? Would it be so bad to stay in the FCS? Is it really better to try to make it to the Tidy Whitey Toilet Bowl some year?

No offense, but this is missing the biggest point: A Saban staff recruits an entirely different type of player. We are comparing apples to oranges. Would anyone want a Scott Frost here? He did well at UCF, not well at his alma mater. I see former USC Coach Clay Helton went to Ga Southern. They are FBS but haven't been for long.

While others may call this "excuses" I agree with your point. Young guys are doing most of the heavy lifting, They are prone to make more mistakes. I'll be there Saturday to cheer the boys on.

Fair points and you covered some of the reasons why it's quiet on this front-Hockey and football hold the stage now. Hoping for a surprising season. Lot's of new faces with some old ones mixed in. Hopefully makes for a better than expected season.
