This is the worst I've seen Duluth defensively in years. Our guys are playing well, but boy is this a different bulldog group.

4-3 Red River after 2. They stay out of the box and they are fine, but to South/Shanley's credit they are hanging around. 1 shot game.

North's goalie is the reason they survived West Fargo last week and are at state this weekend. A hiccup against Minot, but a solid year for him.

After the first period Minot did a better job getting to North's goalie. North has relied heavily on their top line but those guys played too much. They scored North's two goals but were at least out there for 3 against that I remember. Seems like North making the state tournament had them taking a huge sigh of relief last Saturday, and they just didn't have the moxie today. Final Four: South vs. Red River Minot vs. Central

Almost 2 west wins. Minot played North perfectly.

Minot has gotten very lucky on some changes. Can't change both d men at once on the long change period.

A very even first period between Minot and North. North with more grade A opportunities, but 0-0 after 1.

Lining up for a repeat of last weekends EDC tournament. Minot the last chance for the West, but I don't see them getting by that top line of North and North's goaltender who played extremely well last weekend.

Red River won 5-2. They'll play South tomorrow, who beat Dickinson 3-2.

Kind of unique, boys tournament the seeds lineup with their regular season conference finish. #4 Dickinson vs. #4 South/Shanley #1 Red River vs. #1 Century #2 Central vs. #2 Legacy #3 North vs. #3 Minot Dickinson was a bounce or two away. A pretty good showing for them. South/Shanley hoping that Century has the upset of the year or their run ends tomorrow against the Riders.

Exactly. My oldest made the top mite group, and was the youngest in that level in our club years ago. At the end of the season he looked at me and said he didn't want to play anymore. Just didn't love playing the game. Broke my heart, but he wanted to try other things. Exactly what I told the coordinator when he called me to ask why.

You would think so. And very much a credit to her sticking with her teammates like you mentioned. Lots of pressure to leave from all sorts of directions. Hopefully she's able to have a good state tournament her team.

Remember, that a number of factors are included when the voting happens (by the coaches) for this award. There is the student side of things, the hockey side of things, and then the community involvement side. I'M NOT SAYING THAT ABRAHAMSON ISN'T A FANTASTIC STUDENT/CITZEN. What I am saying is that the coaches are presented other things outside of just hockey that drives how they vote. Honestly very shocked as well that Abrahamson wouldn't be in the top three.

Years and years ago I worked at MAYSA Arena in the summer time and as a squirt he was at the open hockey every single day. Wasn't a question of whether he would skate or not, he was there. Very respectful young man too, always easy to talk to. Good family.

If Dickinson can hold on defensively, they'll be okay against South/Shanley. I still have the Bruins winning that game, but I think Dickinson will give them a battle. Red River and Century should be a decent game. Century struggled with sickness I'm told, but will have to be exceptional to beat RR. Legacy will need a goaltending performance from Miller to hold off Central. Washburn has been terrific in the net for Central this season. North and Minot is intriguing. Played to an OT game earlier this year. If you contain Walen, Watson, Branson you've got a chance if you're Minot. I'll say an East Sweep, but I think four games that could be decided in the third period.

I really don't think it was the goaltending this weekend. Whatever guy got put in would have been lit up with our collective d zone play (everybody). He and many others have to be better. In hockey it's way too easy to blame the netminder. "Ohh, they have 2 goals on 3 shots!!!!??!!!" Well what if that was three breakaways? Or three screened shots from the point? A goalie is supposed to stop 90% of all 2-0 breakaways against him?

Good to see some new blood in the tournament on the boys side. It's been forever for North, and I can't remember the last time Dickinson was at state. I said it before, but the Friday night late game sets up to be a classic if there aren't upsets. North and Central have had some battles and Scheels Arena would be absolutely rocking for that game.
