  1. Years ago when I was coaching in Wahpeton I got to visit old Cardin-Hunt arena for a few seasons. Lowest ceiling in an arena I've ever seen. But pretty good atmosphere.
  2. I really think Saturday at the EDC tournament sees a better level of play due to the first games being held on Tuesday. Three games in three days is tough on the body. Giving the teams two days to catch their breath before the Friday and Saturday grind at Purpur makes sense to me.
  3. Let the arguments begin!!! (Continue...)
  4. Better question, does Denver still have the bachelor contestant doing its TV color commentary? If not its a travesty, because that was purely unintentional satire listening to him pretend to know what he was talking about.
  5. First round of EDC is home arena of higher seed. All GF after that.
  6. I'll never forget that one. Was there review back then? Lord that was terrible.
  7. EDC Tournament: #1 RR vs. Mayport/Grafton/Devils Lake #4 North vs. Sheyenne #2 South vs. West Fargo/Devils Lake/Grafton #3 Central vs. #6 Davies Should be one heck of an EDC tournament. The only two teams that can feel kind of safe the first round are Red River and South. After that its anyone's guess.
  8. He should of aborted when he read it over and found that nothing that he came up with was funny....
  9. He used to be funny. Now its....meh...is it time to put the dog down?
  10. I was at a HS coach's meeting years ago where the coach of the Grand Forks girls team (forget his name) told the NDHSAA rep that he wanted to keep the girls in the Olympic rink because of the atmosphere.
  11. Points.....any points....find a way....If Miami can get points in St. Cloud then UND can get something in Denver....
  12. The problem with letting teams go independent on their schedules is programs in the west would really struggle with game scheduling. The way it is now Williston brings down Notre Dame Academy for two games to open their season in part to fill their schedule because nobody in the east other than Mayport will schedule them. Dickinson dives down into South Dakota to play club teams, Hazen schedules junior gold games. Just not a lot of teams in their vicinity. You take away the Minots and the Jamestown/Bismarcks from those teams and you've got a scheduling issue. I think it was last year Williston couldn't get Notre Dame across the border and the games they got were in International Falls Minnesota to replace them. Do the math on that 540 plus mile bus trip. Now if I was a Red River or Central fan I'd say bring on independent schedules so they could play all sorts of Minnesota teams each year. Heck, they probably would let them into the Mariucci conference in Minnesota. Would be the end of the GPR-GFRR/GFC games outside of the EDC tournament.
  13. How did he not give himself a concussion from that? Got thrown down harder than when he got hit by Mismash a few years back. @Godsmack....thoughts?
  14. That Central-North game on Tuesday should be a dandy. Two hard working/physical teams with a ton to play for. Central is playing so much better after a rough start to their season. North with a huge win over a good South/Shanley team Friday that secured a home playoff game for them.
  15. Being able to have a Warroad on your non conference schedule is huge. Central getting to play two quality Section 8A teams back to back is a great test before tournament time.
  16. Same kid gave up 9 goals to Sheyenne in a 6-3 loss and a 4-1 loss (EN). Been a wild year in the EDC. Here is how I think it ends. 1. RR 2. South 3. Central 4. North 5. Sheyenne 6. Davies 7. WF 8. DL 9. GPR 10. Mayport
  17. North's goalie got them again. 2-0 Spartans. Red River wins the EDC if they beat Davies on Tuesday.
  18. They are 12th. Right below the cut off of his picture.
  19. With a win tonight South/Shanley would rap up the EDC regular season championship. A loss and very likely Red River.
  20. I remember thinking the same thing a few weeks ago. Was listening to him talk while I was upset about the effort, and he just had such a "sun will come up tomorrow" and its only a hockey game type mentality, and was just genuinely enjoying his time being with TH and talking about hockey. It was almost like was giving a life lesson. Things like the sad events of yesterday are going to happen and we only have so many years on the planet to where we shouldn't let a hockey game effect us so much. Prayers to his family.
  21. Very sad news. Must have been unexpected. Hug your loved ones.
  22. Moorhead kid that attends Shanley that plays for South-Shanley. Senior in high school with a .93 GAA and a 95% save percentage. Not bad at playing the puck either. His mom was an NDSU D2 All American in track and field. She sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2020.
  23. A goalie with a lot of upside from the area that I think UND should keep an eye on is Noel Olsonawski. Saw him play a few times this year and last and I'm just always impressed with his positioning and skating ability in the net. I think he has a really high ceiling, and I'm interested to see how he does in junior hockey.
  24. Kudos to Devils Lake on the win against Davies. That muddles things up in the EDC quite a bit more. Also sets up a battle for the 7th seed between them and West Fargo for who gets to host Mayport in the 7-10 play in game.
