A great article. A lot kids would have probably just took the money and laughed at the fact that he got in trouble while in college. Now he is a Hobey Baker candidate having a tremendous season on a team that could do some special things at the end of the year.

Very true. I'm a big proponent of the winners getting that extra time before they play next. The Robbie Bina incident occurred after the sioux won the play-in game against Wisconsin and were forced to go right away the next day. The same thing with Duluth a couple of years ago against CC after they beat the sioux. Or when Anchorage made the F5 for the first time, beat CC, and ended up playing North Dakota the next day in the afternoon. Yeah the past two years you had teams winning the F5 after winning the play-in game, but neither the sioux or the bulldogs had to win the afternoon game after winning Thursday.

Agreed on 99% of your points. I gave my best player award to Genoway.... But Kristo did play well too.
-
Hmmmm.....and if Grimaldi is a better player than Miller.......The cupboard shouldn't be too bare after this season.... Feel bad for Eidsness.....wish he could have gotten the shutout.....Understandably looked a bit rusty.....
-
And that just ended the game...... Miller has been the best player for the U-18's. He'd be a great guy to have play with Kristo next season.

I haven't heard the shots for a while, but Eidsness has to have around 20 saves for the game. Lets hope he doesn't let one slip by here and the fellas get outta dodge.
-
Agreed, a number of guys haven't been moving their feet for a good portion of the game. Get out of this game healthy, and take a week off.
-
You can just tell its a different Eidsness this year. He hasn't given up a goal yet, but he has been shaky the whole game. Trying to force the puck a number of times, and fighting it at times as well. Good to get him in the game though. They'll need him at the end of the year.

Two threads in one week....I apologize guys and gals.... Anyways, with the new tournament this year having six teams and no third place game, and two games on Thursday I had someone ask me an interesting question that I didn't know the answer to. Lets say the top six current teams make it, and take their current seeds with them. 1. UND 2. Denver 3. Duluth 4. UNO 5. CC 6. Wisconsin Thursday nights games would be #3 Duluth vs. #6 Wisconsin, and #4 UNO vs. #5 CC. Here is where the question comes in. After the first round, do they re-seed? Like if Wisconsin beats Duluth, would they then play UND automatically if UND was the #1 team, and the winner of UNO vs. CC would automatically play Denver as the higher seed than Wisconsin? Of if Duluth won the winner of UNO vs. CC would automatically play the sioux? I tried to find this on the web, but couldn't really find anything....sorry for wasting your time Sioux fans.........

You would think that they would bring him in next year so he wouldn't lose an entire year of eligibility. But I guess that his age puts him in a situation of sooner rather than later. Hopefully he's a good fit, and can fill in with Lamoureax on the third or fourth line.

I read on Brad's blog that this guy is joining the team after semester one comes to an end. Does anyone have any info about why the sioux are adding this kid to the roster? Being the MJHL MVP is pretty impressive. I have a feeling that someone is going to come into this thread and put me to shame that we've all heard of this guy, and we all knew that he was coming in and would dress against Duluth in the HoF game... Please, take it easy on me.....

I can't get excited about sioux basketball any more....Before they printed the starters and the roster in the Fargo Forum I had no idea who any of these guys were. Men's Basketball has become insignificant at UND. When I was a student we used to go to just about every game and the crowd at the Hyslop was always great. I went to one game at the Betty and it was like watching a 5th grade game.....people uninterested, and the only ones who really cared were the coaches and the team. The students didn't even pay attention to the game......They have this great basketball facility and its half full.....

Brad hinted in his blog today that he thought Eidsness may get the start today against the Mavs. I can't believe the coaching staff would take Dell out when the guy is playing so well, and giving the team great goaltending every time he's between the pipes. Next week they have an exhibition game.....let Eidsness play that one....hell....have Eidsness and Maris dress and give them each half of the game. No reason to play Dell in in exhibition game.....
-
I think if Eidsness doesn't see the net much this year he'll probably be gone. Kind of like a Jeff Frazee situation. Drafted decently high, won't get much time in the net, probably better off trying to move his career in a positive direction instead of waiting on the bench. I still can't believe Jeff Frazee was as highly touted as he was.....talk about a guy who was all over the place and God awful.....Kangas looked like the savior in the gopher net after Frazee was the starter....and Kangas is a shaky at best goaltender.

First star of the night goes to the coaching staff for having the team wear the black uniforms tonight. Talk about giving a team a psychological edge.....I bet when the boys walked into the locker room they all got smiles and had that feeling of something positive. I think the same could be said for SCSU. When they saw the sioux in black they must have thought.....ohh !@#$....here we go..... Great Sweep! Sitting in second place in the league now. Lets go get a couple in Mankato, who should be riding high after beating the gophers twice....well at least their goalie beat Minnesota twice, not sure who else they had on the ice but him.
-
I usually hate weekends when the sioux are off, but my God do they need a weekend or two off to let some guys heal......Christmas can't come soon enough. Its good to have a guy like Marto that can play more than one position. You talk about the amount of skill they have on D.....all seven of them dressed....
-
Dell may be the team MVP to this point in time. He has been superb.
-
We had no goalies on the ice there....how often do you see that.....wow.... Finish here fellas.
-
What a great play by Genoway.....tough breakout, then sees that Malone has speed on the wing entering the zone.....Malone had a great finish, but give Genoway an attaboy.... And Dell comes up HUGE!!!!!!
-
Agreed. Dell has been a rock back in the net.
-
This has to be a goal....has to be.....no other way.....no other way..... If they call this a no goal I give up on WCHA officials.......my god...... And the call...........easy one....had to be a goal...
-
You talk about the walking wounded.....Losing Hextall.....losing Gregoire.....my gosh...... You talk about two key injuries.....I guess its a good thing that they happened earlier in the season as opposed to later in the year.... I've been way out of the loop. Is Gregoire a concussion? Come on insiders, don't fail me now.
-
I'm not going out on much of a limb here, but I think that Genoway is going to have a great weekend.....I think we'll see him pick it up a notch from where he's already been the first couple of weeks.
-
I like that Schlossman recognized the fact that Genoway did it without wanting any type of recognition. What a great example for the rest of the team, hopefully this is something that rubs off on the rest of the team. I like the idea of keeping the team at a hotel Friday night. Although you would hope the players are mature enough to get themselves ready for game 2 of the weekend without any special type of treatment. Here is a question. When the Sioux hosted the regional a couple years ago (Holy Cross) did the team stay in a hotel that weekend?
