North Dakota vs BU - Grand Forks welcomes the Terriers
Wilbur replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
The last time BU came to Grand Forks, UND won the national championship that very season....against albeit BU. I'm all about that happening again. -
A senior in college doesn't know what a civil lawsuit is? Come on....... I like how he has been suffering from neck spasms. What the coach did was clearly wrong, but obviously he isn't getting tackled very hard if that causes a neck spasm. Gotta be careful today.....everything is under that microscope.

I think the officials conference had to do with the fact that they are only allowed the overhead angle (I believe this is still the rule, correct me if I'm wrong) to look at the play so they really had no chance to see if the puck was played with a high stick from the video. So in order to make the correct call they all got together to ensure no one saw a potential high stick. I guess it made it difficult on them because the entire state of Alaska was calling for a high stick on the play. In the end it really wasn't close. I was feeling bad for Anchorage until I slowed it down on my DVR and saw that the puck was like a foot away from Knight's stick.

In the third period this is where UND dug itself into a hole. They tried to fly a winger and Anchorage just wasn't allowing that pass to happen at all when they got the lead. Its tough to be patient when you want to try and hit a homerun and score a goal, but it nearly cost them the game. I guess the short passing game was off all night anyways, so chalk it up to one of those nights.

Something has to be figured out defensively. I mean they are playing good teams, but they aren't playing the Oregon Ducks every weekend. I'm for a massive overhaul defensively. Change the scheme. Use these last few games to mix and match a bit defensively in order to try and find something that might work. I don't care if they play a 4-3, a 3-4, or a 11-0. Find a defense that works with the guys you have.

I think someone already said it. Typical Saturday night performance early in the season for North Dakota. I think one thing I was a bit upset with was when UND went down by a goal Anchorage was the hungrier team. If you didn't know what the score was you would've thought that Anchorage was down by a goal and pressing when the opposite was true. Got lucky to get the point tonight. Take it and run with it. Its a tough league to sweep in, thats for darn sure.

Mussman got his extension for that unbelievable conference championship they won last season.

15 Carries for 15 yards. I guess that guy won't have to eat his hats....
-
No changes necessary to the line combos. I like it.
-
Then there are days when your offense won't be clicking and you'll need the defense to pick up their game..... We knew they wouldn't win this game, but I think we all thought they were better than what the score is right now.
-
You just don't win a lot of big sky shootouts on the road. Tough to outscore good teams at their place.
-
I don't think our offense should punt.
-
No kidding....a Bubba blitz created a sack and a defensive touchdown....huh.....14-7 SIU over the agricultural school.
-
At least he brings pressure. At least the QB feels the defense around him.
-
Yup, theres that defense.
-
Good work defense......a three and out....yes.
-
Okay defense......baby steps....
-
Nope. Partly cloudy I guess.
-
The offense will score points, but in the end the defense is still a work in progress. Today's weather. Just below forty and 8 mph wind. MSU 48 UND 24

I was thinking of a way to characterize Zane last night, and I think you're pretty close. Got the job done, at times a bit shaky, but got the job done. Through the games they have both played I'd give the edge to Clark. But having two goaltenders game tested and ready to go at any time is a great thing. PS: I don't think I'd mess with the Rowney line after what they've shown. Parks will make any line better, but if Rowney-Mac-Gaarder play like they played last night, thats a tough group to split apart.
-
7-1 if Anchorage had average goaltending IMHO. Kamal will forever remain in my heart for his performance at Mariucci arena two years ago ensuring the gophers of not playing the Final Five. Just as long as he keeps those kind of performances in Minnesota.
-
I'm not going to say the gophers are the best team in the country, but I don't want to underscore that USA team either. That might be one of the better U-18 teams that they've ever had. A couple bounces, they beat UND, one more save, they beat Minnesota. Yeah, some of these teams go in slow motion when they play the high schoolers, but at the same time they used to go in slow motion and beat these kids 6-0.

Fun to watch. Roll four lines in the third and just grind them down. Observations ~Seemed a bit nervous at times, but the "Reign of Zane" has officially begun. ~Kristo was all over the place.....like we thought he would be. ~Rowney's line was tremendous.....boy has Gaarder grown as a player. ~Nice to see the d men making outlet passes instead of chipping the puck out over and over again, as was the case last year with the whole healthy body situation. Go get two more points now.

Nice answer.

I think they've got something with Rowney-MacMillan-Gaarder. That line is all over Anchorage. I mean....all over them every shift.
