It almost seemed like they just flat out gave up with trying to make it a decent broadcast. Lets just take a guy that is a horrible play by play guy to begin with and let him do a sport he has no clue about. This could mean the return of Sweeney to the Ralph doing the play by play at state hockey. Forum communications bought the rights.

I'm happy that NBC lost the high school tournaments. Talk about terrible broadcasting. They can do a horrible job of covering every NDSU football game forever and ever amen. But they owe me an apology for the state hockey tournament this year. And the rest of the folks that have either or attended or watched the past X number of years.

Can't have too much depth. I don't care if kids get up and leave because they aren't dressing every night. UND can't have a situation like we did 2011-2012. I wouldn't mind having 8 defensemen. That way if you have a guy that is dinged a little bit you can give him some time to get healthy knowing you have seven other bodies capable of doing the job.

I researched a little bit. Goes back to the 2003 season. But only a single assist. Fylling (Minot) from Schneider (Grand Forks) Still looking for a second assist from a North Dakotan goal.
-
Great pick up for UND on the back end. All those North Dakotans and Minnesotans on the team in the near future....wow... Trivia question that I don't know the answer to: ~When was the last time a goal was scored by UND by a North Dakotan that was assisted by two other North Dakotans?

I know Phil Lamoureax would have stopped the second Chicago goal tonight. To me that makes him NHL quality... Unless Nate Gerbe was shooting. Then probably not........
-
Glad that they brought in a #3 that will compete for the job right away. Played a ton of minutes last year, and a ton of games. From watching the highlight package he has decent rebound control, but kind of flops around a bit. Nice to have three options in net.

I think it shows a couple of things. First of all how tough it is to play at an NHL capable level at the goaltender position. Secondly, how blessed we have been to watch NHL capable players play in front of us over the years (Toews, Oshie, Parise, Zajac). Of all the starting NHL goaltenders in the playoffs right now, how many played college hockey? Off the top of my head, you've got Howard from Maine, Elliott from Bucky, Quick from Umass. Who am I missing? Seems like the best goaltenders in the world come from Canada or come from overseas, and typically they play their junior hockey up in Canada. And then the best ones from the United States like Campbell or Gibson head up to Canada nowadays.
-
I for one thought Phil Lamoureax would work his way to the NHL at some point in time during his career. Talk about a hard working goaltender. Still is playing in the Austrian League. Almost had a chance with the Sabres, but at this point in time its looking like an overseas career for him. Can't say that right now I see an NHL future for either Gothberg or Saunders. But I say this as I'm typing on a computer sitting in my living room as my two year old screams because he's ticked off that its bed time.

If the Wild win the Stanley Cup with Josh Harding in the net they've got another hockey movie for hollywood.
-
Basically with the lineup they have the wild have to get up and then hold on late in the game to hold off Chicago. Today they got up and would have held on if not for bonehead Clutterbuck's play. Still, may not work with Chicago's offensive ability. 15 more wins to the Stanley Cup!

Best of seven series. And Chicago just tied it after Minnesota went goose egg on them. You just can't sit back and play defense on a team like Chicago. You have to try and create a cycle low and get some grind time. Wow what a move by Toews.....the Wild need to find a way to get to OT and regroup.
-
Blah.....I'll never understand officiating....how does Toews get a penalty for battling Suter for the puck....
-
I could definitely see the Wild taking a lead into the third period and then playing goose egg hockey. Chip it out, clog up lanes....circa Minnesota 2003.
-
Yzerman said it really well. I was a huge North Stars fan as a kid. I guess the Wild are my NHL team, but I hate the fact that I share the same professional hockey team with all those bleeding gold goopher fans. I wouldn't call myself a diehard, just want to see the local group do well. If they keep playing defensive zone coverage like they showed on the first Chicago goal today the season will be done soon.
-
I think its already been said. The Wild just don't have the depth. I think they thought they'd get more out of Granland this year, and I know Suter likes to play a lot of minutes, but in the end it just drags on him and by the end of a game he's just gassed. I think the foundation is there with guys like Zucker, Parise, Suter. Now add a blueliner or two to compliment Suter, and have more than one line that is an actual scoring threat. In the world of NHL playoff hockey line matching is huge. The funny thing about this series is that the Hawks are so deep up front that they don't care who the Parise line plays against. They're just basically worried about themselves.
-
Yuck.......talk about sloppy play.
-
Just seems impossible for the Wild to find a way to beat the Hawks. They're getting great goaltending, but I don't think they'll be able to create enough chances to get to Crawford. They need a stupid bounce goal here, if the Hawks get up 2-0 I don't think its in the cards for Minnesota tonight.

I think UND may have missed the boat on a young man who played for Minot in the NAHL. Big athletic kid who ended up signing with St. Lawrence university. Last name is Parks, could have had a two headed Parks monster on the team.
-
I tried to buy him a beer once......but the family man in him made us go the ice cream route. I still got a beer for me though.
-
I'm not sure what hockey law it is. But when one team hits the crossbar in overtime the other team automatically wins.
-
I'm going to keep beating a dead horse with Osiecki. If I was him I would question my school's commitment to hockey with playing a playoff series in essentially their practice facility or youth hockey rink. If it isn't football or men's basketball Ohio State doesn't care. A guy I worked with during college grew up in Ohio, huge Ohio State fan, was unaware they had a hockey team.
-
The North Stars last ever hockey game took place in Joe Louis Arena.......
-
The Vikings decide that its better to have a punter then a number of other far more talented athletes. A Punter instead of a Theo Riddick....yeah....stupid. I don't care if Kluwe is a giant douche who nobody likes. You can find a punter anywhere.

When I was at UND I was out at the bar after a big Friday night win against Denver. Saw like 3/4 of the team at an un-named downtown bar who had their fair share of drinks, a few of them getting a bit out of hand. Saturday night they got killed. Think they lost like 7-3 or something to that effect. Talk all you want about how its college, just being college kids. But it can have a negative effect. I've heard of some teams going the hotel route for home weekends. Has UND ever done that?
