  1. Last year may have been the only year nobody cared that a private school won it. Best of luck Green Wave. Nothing to lose. With some strong play in their own end and goaltending anything is possible.
  2. Absolutely a travesty. Unless the twins went around and shot people's dogs....which I don't think happened. This really makes the voters look stupid. Flat out. Hold a grudge...fine whatever. In the end there isn't two better players in college hockey than Monique and Jocelyn. Hands down. Think of the points they'd have if they stayed at Minnesota.....wow....
  3. Good question. I hope not. But when home ice comes down to two hockey games in your own barn you'd think they'd be ready. Hopefully UND plays like the big bully of the WCHA, and gets 3-4.
  4. I hope you're right. I'll be happy with a split on the road. Both teams have a ton to play for. Hopefully UND can weather the storm early because I think the Mavs come out absolutely flying.
  5. Alright, predictions away for this weekend: Sioux-Mavs: Split Gophs-Beavers: Split....Beavers played well against UND, I think they steal one. Denver-Anchorage: George gets a sweep Wisconsin-SCSU: Split CC at Tech-Split Omaha at Duluth-Duluth Sweep
  6. I cringe when the private schools win it. I'd love to see a school like East Grand win it, but nobody has a chance against St. Thomas this year. I have an idea. All private schools be required to play AA. Or have a section of just private school teams in each division.
  7. I hope Minnesota and UND end up as 1 and 2 seeds or like 2 and 4 seeds. The final five isn't a given, but if both clubs make it I'd like them on opposite sides of the bracket with a chance to meet in the final. Perfect world scenario heading into playoff weekend: (note, not at all likely) 1. UND 2. SCSU 3. Goldy 4. Bucky 5. MSU 6. Denver 7. Omaha 8. CC 9. Duluth 10. Tech 11. BSU 12. Anchorage I've stated before I don't want The Sioux to play the Beavs, but I guess it's better them than a Duluth. Yikes.....scary first round of hockey there.
  8. Yeah. I was saying the Friday night loss the goaltending was inconsistent. Saturday very good.
  9. Inconsistency is something we've seen a lot of this year, in a lot of different facets. The offense plays well in Denver but the goaltending doesn't show up. Then the scoring execution doesn't show up this weekend against the Beavs. Like goon said though, it just takes four games. Duluth winning the championship had a ton to do with their road to the title game, but also with an extremely inconsistent team getting it figured out when they had to.
  10. That was the Anaheim frozen four year. For some reason when frozen fours are played in warm weather states UND doesn't end up there.
  11. Dick and Bert are terrible homers, agreed. And I'll agree with you about Souhan and Reusse. I'm a fan of Souhan. A lot of people around the city dislike the guy for being the first one ever to call out Joe Mauer and Ron Gardenhire in terms of the Twins. But he might be the one writer in that market that I have respect for. Hartman....meh.....Reusse....meh. I sent an email once to Souhan after he got ripped apart for calling a spade a spade with my beloved Twins. He emailed me back the same day. Nice guy, hope he is around for a while.
  12. Wisconsin in the mix for a title.....wow....no way. Whoulda thought?
  13. I just think that the fact that it being called opens up the game so much more for Minnesota. Doesn't matter how Minnesota has been on the pp, the beavs don't want to skate shorthanded against an overly talented team. PS: The putting the puck out of play rule will hopefully be adopted by college hockey. Should be a delay of game in all leagues.
  14. I don't think either und or the gophs sweep this next weekend. I think the gophs get three while UND splits. A HUGE part of that Minnesota series will be officiating. I'm the last guy to blame the officials for a loss, but they will sure as heck dictate that series with what gets called and doesn't. If bemidji gets away with the obstruction they maybe get an ugly 2-1 win. If Minnesota gets six plus pp's a game then it's 4-1 Minnesota both nights.
  15. Plenty of cold Friday and Saturday nights to ice fish. Although you'll get disappointed if you don't catch anything every time you put your line in.
  16. I'll never forget how laid back Duluth was after losing. Hobey baker Connelly was laughing in the hand shake line with beaver players, and for that matter all game. Completely different team come tourney time.
  17. Lack of a championship hurts no doubt. Eades said it best. Success is marked by championships at UND. When the bar is set that high unfortunately anything less is seen as a huge failure. Sigh......it has turned into Gpl over here though. Lot of vultures that love to jump on these kids when getting ain't so good.
  18. If that wasn't effort last night I have no idea what effort is. It hurts down deep every time the Sioux don't win. It sucks, and it stays with me all week. Like anyone I try to find the person responsible for what happened to cost them the game. What players lack of effort cost them two points? That is all I want to know. They should have won but saying those guys didn't lay it on the line is a head scratcher.
  19. Okay. So you didn't watch Saturday and through the score you assume there was no effort? I agree. BSU is not a great team. But Minnesota won't beat them 10-1 both nights.
  20. We will have to agree to disagree. The effort was there. Coach serratore said it best. Look at both benches at the end of the game. They were gassed. They should beat that team 9 out of 10 times. But that's hockey. Didn't bury their chances you bet. Laid down? Come on.
  21. Slept on it, and I still feel the same. Efforts like what happened against SCSU and Holy Cross are unacceptable. That isn't what happened last night. Many here have played the game in some fashion and playing a team like Bemidji isn't easy when they are playing their systems well. You can't carry the puck in with any speed, you have to dump it hard or soft enough so the goaltender can't play it for their defense. If they get the puck first they chip it out, and its try again. If you get it you wear a guy around the zone and try to get the puck to the net with five guys stacked below the circles after they collapse. And of course when Bemidji is breaking every obstruction rule in college hockey it makes it that much easier. Ohh, add to that a goaltender that played pretty well. I'll take the point in that scenario.
  22. Got ours the other day. Buddy in Litchfield has them. Haven't heard about Brando. You would think he'd make the last one.
  23. Personally und matches up better with a tech or anchorage....hell the four times they played cc they were all over them. Next weekend will sure be fun with all the scenarios.
