I think one trump card the NC$$ has is the availability of facilities if they were to award top seeds regionals. I'll use this example. Ohio State lights the Big Ten on fire next year, and gets to host a regional. Well....guess that regional isn't going to be in Columbus because the hockey lovers that they are in Columbus booked away their facility. Are you really going to play that regional in the practice rink? Hell, I had a great time watching Holy Cross (or Sacred Heart if you ask my dad) beat Minnesota. But had Minnesota won that game, and played UND at the Ralph it wouldn't have been fair to them, the #1 seed. (See UND-Mich 1998, MafiaMan invokes camera man incident). Obviously the answer isn't hosting a regional in St. Louis (See BC-Michigan-CC-UNO). I'm not sure what the answer is......

That Saturday game was some of the best goaltending I've ever seen. I believe the BU goaltender's name was like Laroque or something like that. Boy was he good in what was an absolute bee hive of an atmosphere. Makes me miss the old ralph.

I see St. Cloud taking a step back next year. They've got some good young players, but you can't replace Hanowski/Leblanc/Likely Jensen. I think Miami is the favorite to win the league next year.
-
I could see Luke Johnson skating with Rocco. Central Scouting has him rated as an "A" skater. Last time I saw him play was when he was a freshman in high school at Central. And he was the best player on the ice on a team that was pretty loaded.
-
Which is why Karl will stay on as goaltending coach. We'll need him with just one guy back half the time.
-
I may be overqualified for that one..... A team from Alaska will never win a national championship. You talk about Circadian Rhythm screwing with your ability to play hockey.....
-
Thats going to be the big question mark next season. Who can skate with Rocco?
-
Just their mission statement because it follows his spiritual beliefs.
-
They had to come up with some type of excuse. I don't think it was a goal, but I don't buy the goalie getting knocked into the net.
-
Well according to some folks on here and GPL coaching NHL type talent should automatically lead to championships. So I think UND could do themselves a favor by canning the three current clowns and letting you and me run the show. Karl can stay on as the goaltending coach, because these guys are way way way better goalies than I ever dreamed of being. You wanna run forwards or d?

After this year, I'm ready to go back to the drawing board and have four lines of about equal strength and just roll them. Obviously whatever line Rocco is on will be the top unit, but I'm hopeful that the line combos are pretty well established come January. Another thing I'd like to see is keeping lines intact for power plays. That way lines aren't messed up for three shifts after we don't score on the powerplay. I think a big reason there was so little success on the powerplay was the fact that you had guys playing with different guys, then going back and playing with different guys even strength. This of course goes back to our horrible head coach......If they would just accept my resume, I'd be a great addition to the staff. I mean you'd have four great minds with an abundance of nhl, ahl, and college hockey coaching experience. Well, I played intramurals at UND, so that counts as college hockey experience in my book.

^That...... My biggest issue with the forecheck this year was dumping the puck and having zero pressure lead to an easy out. I can understand a line change leading to an easy out, but too many times the puck would get dumped in the wrong corner or F1 would take a horrible pursuit angle, and that just screwed everything up. If you want to watch a team that played a great forecheck see Yale vs. UND. They hemmed in our dmen, and their F1 was outstanding at forcing our dmen into a horrible decision (cough....Gleason). Half of that though was our dmen not giving up ringing the wall. Even when the weakside d pinched every time.....every time...

I think Rocco will be just fine. He'll work his rear end off at getting better, and lead the team in scoring next year. I think once he gets his first next year they'll come like grapes....in bunches.

Hockey stick turning into a snake......

I'm glad we won't see those clowns again (hopefully). All majors need to be reviewed. All a guy has to do is lay down and hold his head for a guy to get tossed. Especially with Marco and Shep.
-
I'm not jumping on the UND is the most talented team on the planet bandwagon. Average goaltending all year long, some poor defensive play, and after really the top six forwards didn't get a lot of secondary scoring. Best goaltending: Niagara Best defensive core: Minnesota Best offensive core: Yale, after watching them yesterday....

And Shep and Marco just tossed Union's best defenseman for a shoulder to shoulder hit.....wonder where we've seen that before....

99% of the time I come on here and someone has already put into perfect perspective what I really wanted to say. Half of the time its like, yeah, what he/she posted.... Anyways.....here we go..... Yale will outshoot Umass Lowell, but Lowell will win the game because they are just that impressive to watch, and very very well coached. SCSU will shut down Quinnipiac's top unit with Jensen on the ice, and that'll be it for Josh Siembida's former stomping grounds. Lowell-SCSU for the title.....Hmmm.....ohhh.....Lowell wins like 2-1. PS: Had a class with Josh and he showed up one time. Too bad for him it was an old ornery western civ guy that had been teaching since my dad was at UND......I believe Josh dropped the class.....later the university....
-
Marco and Shep calling the Quinnilmnopqrst....Unioin game. Lets see if they call obstruction. Edit: And they miss a blatant too many men on the ice penalty......yikes.
-
Two teams that could have been dead with other outcomes in conference tournaments are at the frozen four...... Hockey doesn't make sense.
-
St. Cloud a few good shifts from the frozen four. Good for them. I can root for them to win the national championship.
-
Thompson is a tremendous defenseman. Great skater, great hands. Will add a lot when he comes here. But if Forbort stays I think he's down in the junior hockey ranks for another season. If Forbort leaves, I wouldn't mind seeing him at UND next year.
-
After watching Lowell they are my pick. Good goaltending, very sound positional play in their own end, and they are opportunistic. Them vs. SCSU for the national championship would be fun to watch.
