  1. North kid took a major penalty the last 4 minutes of the game and the Spoilers rolled off three power play goals to tie the game late, and then won it in OT while still on the major power play according to the game sheet.
  2. No kidding? Any co-op or enough kids?
  3. Maybe a lock was a poor choice of words. I think the way they hung in with a good Central team twice and their ability to score and score in bunches when they are rolling makes them formidable. Let me rephrase. If I was a betting man I'd bet on them ending up at the state tournament.
  4. Still waiting out the NCAA and the lawsuit that I've filed in Grand Forks county court for extended eligibility. If Carson Beck and Pavia get another year there is no reason I can't put the pads on and sit on the bench and fill water bottles in at least a JPL goaltending/Lamoureax hockey practice jersey.
  5. I think in the EDC Central, Red River, Davies are locks. After that a toss up with DL, North, Sheyenne. Western side you could easily see Legacy as the only team from Bismarck in the tournament. Hopefully Jamestown ends up at state so I can buy you an overpriced cup of coffee at Scheels arena in February!
  6. Good post. I think it goes to show the quality of d men that the current team has and that the pipeline of d men coming in are strong as well. I kind of expect Liv to be gone regardless as a free agent that already has a lot of eyes on him come April when the season wraps up. Hopefully its a Troy Stecher kind of situation where he has hung a green banner and now wants to take the next step in his life on the ice.
  7. Conversations I've had with parties closer to the source than I'll ever be pointed to what you mentioned with the scheduling aspect, but also that he was 100% made aware that Legacy was in the planning stages and would be coming aboard within a two to three year phase with immediate varsity participation, which he was very against looking at the numbers. This is part of his explanation when he resigned. I've coached a few seasons of high school in the state and know what he means as far as trying to make changes and getting absolutely nowhere with the NDHSAA. Unless its basketball they don't care. 😅
  8. As we sit now UND holds a 5 point edge on the Pios with equal amounts of games played heading toward the end of January. The Sun Devils are a bit behind in the NCHC sitting at 17 points and coming off a bye week. The last time they took the ice, they took four of six from up and coming Miami. Denver hosts SCSU this weekend and Duluth after, so not the time to take the foot off the gas pedal for UND. Really the key this weekend is puck possession and making Lucies, Schmiek, and Potter player in their own end. Those guys drive the wagon, and keeping them off the power play is a point of emphasis this weekend as well. This four game road trek for UND will tell a lot about the NCHC race heading into February. A trip south, followed by a trip to the harbor and the Dawgs. 9. Well, thats the quiet part out loud. 😅 When he and his staff resigned he mentioned something along the lines of parent over reach, etc. I think everyone in the state knows he got out because of what the Demons were going to look like talent wise after the Legacy hockey team became a reality.
  10. Lol.... @burd for the win! 😅
  11. Stay hungry boys. It happens. Turn the page.
  12. Big opportunity tonight. Toughest thing in college hockey is to sweep a good team. Denver on a slide and I can't imagine anything but a backs against the wall performance from the pioneers.
  13. I don't think the Demons were slouches either. Winning in 2014 and having a few top 4 and championship game appearances after that. Peluso very much got out at the right time.
  14. And Boisvert got a fighting ejection in his team's loss to 45th ranked Lowell. Although I'd call the fight a draw.
  15. I'm biased, but if the trend continues its Spunar and I don't think league goaltender of the year can be out of the question either.
  16. UND with an 11 point lead on Duluth, 9 points on Western, 8 on Denver. What a difference a year makes.
  17. Player skated behind the reffs and said something to which the official turned right away.
  18. Completely agree with your points here. In Bismarck you've got to compete with football (All teams in AAA playoffs), wrestling (BHS dynasty for years), Basketball (Century and BHS very good teams of the past). Good friends in Bismarck and they all say the same thing about the push to get these kids at young age. Easy to watch the Century boys basketball team have loads of success and want to be a part of that, much like the banners that hang in Purper and Eagles Arena in Grand Forks. I think @sioux rube can point out the fact that one Carson Wentz was a pretty good Century athlete that was pulled away from hockey as he was a good football and baseball player, and ended up winning a state championship in basketball with the Century boys because Mattern saw him in the weight room and figured he'd see if he could get another quality athlete on his basketball squad.
  19. If you watch the end of the game on Mustang Media on Youtube you can see the interaction. Head coach, and one of the better players for Sheyenne now out whenever their next game is. Supposed to play Warroad Saturday but I think that is getting postponed with weather.
  20. Look at the pee wee and bantams too.
  21. Yep, proceeded to lose to Devils Lake at home after. I get it was their first time beating RR, and these are kids, but you had a feeling something like that was coming for them.
  22. Grafton won 5-2 RR 7-1 Legacy up 3-2 on Minot late.
  23. Grafton up 4-2 on WFHS.
  24. Red River rolling in WF. I don't think Sheyenne has a grade A opportunity in the game. Riders still angry about losing that one to Central on Tuesday.
  25. Interesting game up in DL. Sheyenne vs. Red River probably with the most eyes on it, but I think there could be some OT at Burdick tonight.
