I've heard people like Mike Peluso say that the numbers aren't there for Legacy to have hockey as down the road BHS would be heavily hit. I guess I'm not sure how its chosen where the Legacy, St. Mary's, or Shiloh kids play their high school hockey. When I played BHS had a bunch of St. Marys kids on the team, but now the Curl kid plays at Century. Plus I'm told there isn't enough ice in Bismarck to have another JV and Varsity program.

So the Michigan Tech band was unavailable too? Its not like their team has to be there to get an invite.....

After all these years, the WCHA F5 gopher rule finally goes our way.
-
I called a penalty on a player in my early officiating days because he said "f3ck my life" after ringing the crossbar dead on. Wasn't directed at anybody but himself, but I heard it, and USA hockey said zero tolerance on that. I think the kid understood the penalty but his coach lost it on me. I had to show him between periods in the rule book the profanity rule (used to be 601 E.), but it still turned into the coach riding me all game long about every little instance because his kid swore.

So I just attempted to find Cole Spicer's stats on the U17 stats page and he hasn't played a game there since Jan 16th. Anybody know if he got hurt or is playing elsewhere?

I coached/taught at a school where every year before the school year started we'd have an all seasons coaches meeting to talk about new rules, but mostly handling unruly parents, kids, situations etc. No kidding, I had a school administrator's kid on one of the teams I coached and that school administrator LITERALLY did all the things he talked about "bad parents doing" in that meeting. The longest three seasons of my coaching career were spent dealing with this kid (definition of team cancer) and his dad stopping by my classroom just about every morning during the season for a "talk about how things were going". Looking back, I probably could have gotten him fired, but was too young to really want to stir the pot at all. When it comes down to the cub, papa and mama bear don't care about their own actions until its too late. Why anyone would want to get into officiating now with the crap they put up with is beyond me. It takes 5 minutes on youtube watching parents vs. officials videos to dissuade anyone from wanting to wear black and white and blow the whistle during games.

Post pod series #6-It's literally Omaha from here on out........

You gonna tell me next that their football team can't hang with Bama??? I don't see them ever joining the NCHC, but I'd put a friendly wager up that Serratore wouldn't let them finish last in the league most seasons. -
You stole my question. I believe its a wash for all sports? Not completely sure on that one though!

Moving to Thursday in the high school ranks: EDC: Central vs. Davies RR vs. South-Shanley WF High vs. North (Really hoping for the North kids this game can be played) WF Sheyenne vs. GPR Predictions: Central, RR, WF, and WFS WDA: Century vs. Williston Minot vs. Bottineau Jamestown vs. Dickinson BHS vs. Mandan Predictions: Century, Minot, Jamestown, BHS I'll admit though I'd love to see Bottineau and Williston get to host first round games at the state tournament.

Region tournament time. The scores I know: RR beats West Fargo 4-1 Williston beats B. High 4-1 Bottineau beats Jamestown 7-4. South-Shanley wins by forfeit over North.

And here I was ready to send out a missing person's report. For you, and for Judd and Jasper earlier in the season. -
Could Park River and all those surrounding communities have enough for their own high school team if there were two divisions? I'm guessing that answer is a likely no. Years ago I remember there was a Walsh County Junior Gold team, can't remember when they stopped playing though. In my world Grafton not being the Spoilers would be like Minnesota not being the Gophers. All the tradition behind the name, and I can't imagine how it could be found offensive to anyone. I can't see Grafton schools dropping the name, maybe I'm wrong.
-
Yeah, I'm in the boat that believes they end up in a Pod somewhere. Hopefully it is in a location that allows for the parents of the players to watch their kids play in person, not sure with what Pennsylvania currently allows.

I predict my wife throwing a fit when she finds out there is football on on a Saturday afternoon in February...... Hawks 30.....Sloookis......27

Thanks for your perspective. I was volunteering my time one year at a B2 state tournament my community was hosting and I did the PA announcing for a couple of games. The one time I forgot to add the Park River to "Scoring for Grafton" I had six people outside the pressbox telling me it was essential to add the Park River to the Grafton. When did the youth program become North Star? My officiating days have since ended, and I never remember our teams playing "North Star", it was always Grafton.

I cheer for the beavers, I just don't want to watch our team play them four times a year. Plus the Serratore that coaches Air Force is the funnier of the brothers. -

I'd love to see Mankato in the NCHC. Would happily trade Miami for them. Or we could just add them and Air Force and have a 10 team league. -

I'd be super happy with a Duluth-Denver opening round matchup at the NCHC tournament. -
Now we are done with the Pios and getting our posts published on a world famous blog (well.....?), we are back to getting our posts published on a less famous twitter feed about how Omaha is our fiercest rival to date. Throw away the Denver scrums, dead gophers on the ice, a certain water bottle incident in Madison, Duluth getting pretty salty and ticking us all off, Stearns County School for Jan, no my friends....its Omaha. I've complained a bunch about the schedule. Luckily nobody paid attention. I know we were supposed to play these games earlier, but honestly playing them four times in a row to end the year means bad blood boiling over like we saw in the Denver series. The league could have prevented this by directing Denver's flight to Ohio or Kalamazoo last week and having a bus trip for UND, SCSU, or Duluth, but its a Covid year, so I'll shut up. I'd rather see UND play Duluth or SCSU more than twice a year (my opinion of course). To the matter at hand. Omaha swept CC last weekend building on what happened against Denver. They'll likely be the only team in NCHC history to win a 3 on 3 OT game with a 5 on 5 goal, you read that right. When we aren't taking an abundance of penalties and doing everything we can to irritate the fan base we are pretty good. When UND decided to play 5x5 for a stretch of Saturday's game they only gave up 7 shots on goal the last two periods. Omaha is much better on the power play than Denver, and what we learned from Saturday night in Omaha was that they'll beat UND if our guys give them a bunch of opportunities up a guy. I've been told a sweep this weekend guarantees the Penrose cup, so there is that. What about Scheel? What about Mismash? Other injuries? Jasper likely the NCHC player of the week?

According to The NDHSAA, Fargo North has already forfeited their first round game against South. Wondering if they are able to be cleared for Thursday? If not why wouldn't they just move all the teams up a seed below them and give the highest seeded eliminated team the 8 seed?

Weird game in a weird year. Denver will have to win the NCHC tournament to make the NCAA tournament. -
