  1. I have a couple thoughts/questions from this... Most on here believe competition for playing time is good because it motivates players, right? Now, I'm not questioning JPL's motiviation, but is there a chance he could become complacent without another goalie pushing him for playing time? Is Walski good enough to push Lammy for playing time? Again, I'm not questioning JPL's ability to motivate himself or compete, but is there a chance he could lose his "edge?"
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't today mark the one-month "anniversary" of formal practices? Some teams find chemistry right away, some take a little longer. For all we know, CC, Denver, Tech, etc. could be playing their best hockey of the season right now!! You can't take a month's worth of the season and project squat. There is too much inconsistency at this time of the year to make any reasonable deductions. Some teams will get better, some will stay where they are, some will come back down to earth. I see the Sioux in the first category. Some teams run off 20+ game unbeaten streaks in Oct - Jan, only to find themselves playing golf in April. Weekends like these provide ample learning experiences.
  3. Hopefully the offense can get rolling and use the additional space on the bigger ice sheet to their advantage. I'll be looking for the Sioux to play a little tighter defensively and reduce the number of odd-man chances against.
  4. I agree that the number of odd-man rushes the Sioux allowed all weekend was alarming. The difference between Friday and Saturday was that Friday we got off to an early lead and JPL came up with more key saves so it wasn't as noticeable. I'm not sure if it was a result of the D jumping into the play at the wrong time or the Forwards not recognizing the play and dropping back to cover. Regardless, it can be fixed.
  5. How about "Greenheads" with the logo a mallard?
  6. I know the difference between intense play and stupid play. I was only able to listen to the game tonight, but I've seen lots of games over the years, and in general Radke's play falls in the latter category more often than not. If someone is going to muck it up after a tough loss I'm not surprised to hear it's #26. Hopefully this is an opportunity to send a message and he gets things straightened out. I don't know if there's much more to say than that.
  7. Don't confuse intensity with stupidity.
  8. What flame? More like a birthday candle. Need more than one goal.
  9. Then that's just plain foolish!
  10. That's why I said they may be short on cooling capacity, not lacking it all together.
  11. You know this because...why? There are two sources for return air to the A/C units - recyled and outside make-up. If it's too humid inside and raining outside the units have to work much harder. Now, one other way to drive the humidity out of the air is to preheat it, then cool it down, but I'm guessing they aren't equipped to do this. Again, the power outages really set them back.
  12. I have no idea whether or not they have A/C; but, when the power goes out for two extended periods it's tough for a system to play catch-up when it's raining outside and there are 8000 warm bodies in the building. They're probably just a little short on their cooling capacity. I'd hope they wouldn't be stupid enough to build a facility without A/C...
  13. Power outages don't help, forcing the AC to play catch-up when there are 8000 people in the barn.

    Jerseys

I hope so since Nike really botched the current home replica by putting the word SIOUX in green instead of black!
  15. Whadda ya mean? I thought all it took to prove the truth on this board was a LINK!
  16. If you think about it, having the Gophers play the night game every year is a win-win situation for UND. For instance, when we win the league this year we'll get to play the play-in winner on Friday afternoon after a short turn around, and then we'll get additional rest for Saturday's championship. Now, on to other things. I think they need Oshie to center the top line and then find a wing to play with he and Duncan. Osh is great at both ends, and he has shown a knack for winning draws. What more do you want from that position? Does anyone else feel this might happen?
  17. Skip the forest green - you don't want to blend in with the seats!

Even though the offense didn't score a TD, they moved the ball OK. Troy Williamson actually caught a couple passes, and T-Jac looked like his timing and decision making were decent. He also wasn't afraid to tuck it and run. I would have liked to see more of Adrian Peterson, but there's still plenty of time to get his reps in. The offense still has to do more in this second preseason game to get my hopes anywhere near "up," though. The defense looked OK, and I thought they got some decent play out of the new D-ends Edwards and Robison. Macauley lookes like he'll be a good nickel back.
  19. Who here knows all the facts? {silence} That's what I thought. It's funny how we're all so quick to place blame. I guess it's just a by product of the "age of (mis)information."
  20. Thankfully, this could have been much worse. I think the bridge was limited to one lane of traffic in either direction, and it was bumper-to-bumper at the time. Just think if all four lanes in either direction were travelling at freeway speeds! Not only would there have been almost 3X - 4X the amount of cars on the bridge, but I'm sure there would have been some massive pile-up accidents on either side. God Bless.
  21. If we can find some middle ground between our recent starts to the season and the average Gopher start to the season we'll be in good shape to finish strong. This is the first year Hak will have very little turnover in the lineup AND coaching staff. We can't forget how valuable Berry was to this squad and what it may have taken to get over that loss. That said, I think we'll see them come out of the gate stronger and build toward a strong postseason.
  22. Forwards: Bochenski - Toews - Goren Defensemen: Roche-Kidd Tender: Goehring
  23. I agree on pretty much all you just said. It was actually a pretty good game, and MSU played a style I would have like to see UND play (or be able to play) in the semifinal. MSU was down for half the game and couldn't afford to trap BC. They worked their tails off.
