  1. Lee Goren, hands down. He was a gamer & wasn't afraid to get the "ugly" goals in front of the net. My second choice would have been Roche.
  2. I'd say the most recent example is Karl Goehring. He was brought in after Schweitzer's freshman season ('97 championship), and ultimately ended up with the starting job 1/3 of the way into the following season. Schweitzer was "the man" after his freshman season, but it just goes to show you can never be certain.
  3. So what you're saying is Walski should be given a chance to play, or to use one of your terms, is ENTITLED to start due to the work he's put in over the years; but Eidsness shouldn't be ENTITLED to start because he's only a freshman regardless of the results on the ice. Gee, I get it now...
  4. That's why they brought Greico in a couple years back, but he left the team and thus we have Walski as our backup this year and not 3rd string. It was Walski's choice to join the team. If he thought his situation was so bad, he could have left under his own free will and pursued playing time elsewhere. He didn't. 'Nuff said. PS. Who are you to say his college career was a "waste?"
  5. By your logic it seems the only "work" that matters is what is done at the college level. You fail to consider the work that has been put in at the lower levels up to this point. Perhaps E is where he is because he's been working hard and "paying his dues" prior to college in order to be properly prepared for this level of play.
  6. I think if we take a step back and look at the big picture, things aren't all that bad. I thought 5 on 5 the team was solid, so when the special teams play comes around and they can get Finley back anchoring the blue line this will be a pretty solid team. What else should we be expecting this early in the year while players find their roles?
  7. Why would the gopher game be part of their season ticket package if it's not technically their home game? Is it part of the MSU-M and/or UMD season ticket package?
  8. So is the information here innacurate even though the release date is listed as 8/1/08? FightingSioux.com Broadcast Information
  9. I've always thought Koivu is the guy they should be "building" around. Jaques should also let him wear the "C" full time instead of playing the captain merry-go-round.
  10. When Norton and the other guy were previewing the Wisco/Denver match-up on Friday, the host (can't remember his name) asked Norton how the Pioneers got to where they are after the early departure of Brock Trotter, etc., and Norton's reply was something to the effect of: "Bozak has stepped up, and Trotter has scored a lot too." Did anyone else catch that, or was I just hearing things?
  11. Sure, losing tonight didn't end their season, but it is not a good sign. They let the #9 team in the WCHA (I don't care how strong everyone thinks the league is) tie the clinching game with 5 seconds left, in their own barn, while on the PP. Not a good sign. Thankfully there's a game tomorrow. I'm eager to see how they respond.
  12. Finally got one on net during a 3 on 2.
  13. It looked like the better play would have been to shoot the puck and grind for a rebound. They haven't been doing that much lately.
  14. There's a common Dean-ominator for idiocy on this board, too. I suggest you stick to watching the women's game.
  15. Boy, the league sure is on a roll getting things right AFTER THE FACT!! Since everything's being reviewed these days, maybe they should take two points away from DU in the standings and give one to SCSU and one to UW.
  16. They should be reviewing why Radke and Testwuide weren't given the gate for their obvious agreement to drop 'em earlier in the game. If Radke was such a bad culprit, why didn't they do something about it earlier when they had a chance? The refs were probably trying to protect DU's short bench, I don't know.
  17. Funny, I seem to recall the Sioux starting the 3rd with a 5X3 advantage because Mannino took the extra penalty. I wonder if that had anything to do with the melee? Hmmmmmm... Seems to me there is also something in this "code" that relates to pairing up one-on-one during scrums. If you look at the other penalty-riddled games the Sioux have played this year a lot of this "stuff" has been started by the cute little 2-on-1s the other teams like to start with our guys.
  18. Are we playing 4 games this weekend? Technically we only have one more game in November...
  19. Lee Goren - he'd kick the can all the way back to Grand Forks, ND.
