  1. The other thing I find frustrating is that they say they're sticking with Ponder so he can continue to develop and learn. Well...when your game plan is to turn and hand the ball to AD 30+ times, what exactly is Ponder learning? Basically they're telling him just to be ready to throw a check-down on 3rd and short. During yesterday's game, the Vikings got the ball with just under two minutes left in the first half and a couple timeouts. Most teams would love to have that opportunity to put more points on the board. True to form, the Vikes did nothing with it because they don't have a QB capable of moving them down the field. In fact...they gained only about 15 yards and Ponder got picked on a deep ball with :32 left in the half. I guess it was a good as a punt...
  2. Agree on the PP stuff.
  3. Passing may not have been "crisp" per se, but the level of support around the puck was excellent. If a pass got missed or tipped into an open area more often than not another UND player was there to grab the puck.
  4. Or you just don't count end of period...
  5. I don't know these particular guys, but I've seen people play a game where each participant in your group picks a different number from 0-9 and keeps it for the game. Every time the last number on the game clock matches their number they get paid a buck (or whatever) from all the others. Payout is double or more if the stoppage is for a goal.
  6. ...said every team against UND last year!
  7. That's actually pretty hilarious. I was at the Saturday UMD game when Monique got the hatty and they said they had ended the promotion...I never asked for an explanation. It's to the point where the NCAA doesn't make me mad anymore, they just make me chuckle.
  8. Some of you may have seen this already...it was quite entertaining and filled with a lot of good points.
  9. I have DirecTV and love it. In fact, I recently switched ISPs to Charter and refused to get their cable TV because they just don't offer the depth of sports programming DirecTV can. Also, when considering the switch I called DirecTV and they adjusted my monthly bill to be competitive with the Charter promo. Case closed. I think for sports programming - if you want as much available to you as possible - DirecTV is the way to go. Maybe others with Dish can chime in, but with the sports package in DirecTV you have access to a lot more regional sports networks. I also like the user interface with DirecTV better than dish. We have had dish at the lake for a few years and it just doesn't flow as smoothly. I guess the new "hopper" dvr for Dish is probably different, but I haven't used it so I can't comment on it. I do like the interface on DirecTV's HD-DVRs. Overall, in my opinion the customer service, interface, and depth of sports programming on DirecTV is superior to the competitors. It's not the cheapest, but I believe someone posted earlier that you get what you pay for. Consider me a satisfied DirecTV customer.
  10. For as much as we assume the second half surge is a given, why is the assumption always made that if we win more in the first half the team would automatically be better off come tourney time? Either you're playing your best hockey at the end of the year, or you're not. More often than not, Hak has his teams playing their best hockey at the end - when it counts. Saying they have failed to win a natty because of a few losses in November is a bit ridiculous. He's had regular season WCHA champs fail to win it all, so lets not assume it's all about being able to "manage your fatigue level" at the end.
  11. It's part of the locals for those of us in MN on channels 22 and/or 17. Not sure about GF or ND subscribers. Maybe try getting it the old fashioned way with an OTA antenna???
  12. You must be confused with Denver or Gopher games and all the pleasantries exchanged after Friday games!
  13. There is never a handshake after a Friday game in the WCHA, do they do it in the CCHA? They must for the announcer to make a deal of it.
  14. Good to hear. I have a feeling there will be a couple postseason matchups to ensure that no love is lost until then.
  15. Actually...we DID only have two PPs on the weekend. 0/1 on Friday, 1/1 on Saturday.
  16. How much of the current NHL season has been cancelled to date? Obviously they can't do anything until that date is officially freed up.
  17. I bet you could get the downtown St. Paul businesses behind this.
  18. In a team sport any time you put in new pieces, regardless of how many, you're sure to have a learning curve for everyone involved. Even the veterans have to get used to new teammates and/or new combos due to the departures and additions.
  19. I'm curious how one defines the "peak" of a season when a team doesn't win the championship? Is it the last win of a mid-season streak? I actually prefer to think that in seasons where we didn't win the National Championship we never actually peaked. It's easier to define "peak" that way.
  20. Fri - Rowney Sat - MacMillan
  21. We know it's going to happen...it's just a matter of when, right? We could probably lump Knight into that category as well. This team has done quite well considering they have had what some could consider mediocre production from the top guns to date. Good sign of depth.
  22. UND is going to dominate the weekend like a tennis match: 6-1, 6-1. Let's pump it up in here!!!!!
  23. If I remember correctly it involved comments he made to the effect that he makes it a point to look for reasons to call penalties on guys like Commodore, etc. He may have even actually singled out Commodore as a target of his affection...I'm guessing that would get a ref suspended for calling a certain team's games.
