  1. I do not know but he took 3rd place at State Senior Year.
  2. The last two years was a million times worse! 2019 I felt it was his best coaching just because of the injuries we had on the defensive front and we still made the playoffs. That year I believe we beat Sam Houston at home….. then they went on to win the Covid Title the following year.
  3. Even a Mark Callahan was under under 275 in high school (he wrestled) It should not take long for him to gain muscle/weight. I do agree the 6-2 300 pounder we got should try some NG/DT. My time at UND it was not uncommon for big D-Line that are not overly twitchy get move or OL later in their careers. Once on offense line, they never crossed over to D-Line unless goal line defense.
  4. If defensive staff stays than it will be a repeat and rense on defense. Schmidt coached edge rushers at Washington. Need an overhaul on defensive staff.
  5. USD recruited athletes on defense and UND never gave up less than mid 20’s a game in their best year. Let alone shut down an offense (especially a NDSU or SDSU offense) on their own turf.
  6. I am not saying I’m all in on Schmidt, he had a motor when he played. He is competitive, and intense. I do think his last year he did a decent job with the defense, we burned practally all the quarters Red Shirted D-Line because of all the injuries. Unfortunately the lack of depth caught up to us with the outdoor locker room playoff loss to Nichols State. One of the negatives I noticed last night. His bio at SDSU said he would put in a 4-2-5 at there. Watched some of the Air Force game last night. I saw a 3-4 defense get shredded. The only 4-2-5 was like his time at UND. Used in long yardage situations.
  7. Jake left us right away and enjoyed coaching a talented team and QB. The AD may not want him because his he quit as soon as he was hired.
  8. Lennon was solid D coordinator at UND, good D2 coach but could not sustain at Southern Illinois. Great OC/DC is not always the case, DeBoer you could say wasn’t lighting the world on fire at Southern Illinois as OC. He did not look over powering at Eastern Michigan, had a solid 2nd year OC at Fresno, did ok at Indiana before coming back to be head coach at Fresno. His HC at Sioux Falls showed how he could command a team. Just needed a break at a higher division which unfortunately UND did not give him that break.
  9. Last DC before Schmidt was getting about 450,000.
  10. Possibility, of him stepping down is end of year meetings with players and some $external$ dialogue. A coach should leave with the program in a better position then when they came. If he would have stayed, that may not be true.
  11. The Oracle may be accurate.
  12. If Schmidt, he was running 4-2-5 for the Aztecs. He does have more fire and he could of followed staff to Bama, but chose to be a D-coordinator job. He may is young and may want to move up. Not splashy but not a for sure lifer as a coach.
  13. Makes sense, he left for same salary I believe at SDSU with lesser role. Doubt AD would hire him after leaving the way he did.
  14. Or this is my dream job and my goal is to win a national title in 5 years. Or what ever the contract length was. (John McKay of the Bucs had a five year playoff plan because his contract was five years)
  15. Can’t hurt, we even offered a QB 6 years ago or so not inviting him to campus, what was his name….Tommy Schuster. Need to take chances.
  16. Unlike North Dakota’s weather our head coaches rarely change. I hope Bubba is staying because the players believe in him. I thought on another thread Bubba talked of poor tackling this past season (which has truth) but you also need to recruit/hit portal with some guys that are physical and some edge that love violent contact. (It’s ok to take a risk, nothing wrong being a lifer on Study (Knob) Table (not sure if they still have that)) Sorry for all the parentheses.
  17. 2 road wins, one road win got him 2 year extension. 2 road wins may give him 2 or maybe 4 more years. That could be the case in a multiverse….hopefully not this one. seriusly they need to reevaluate how they do things (maybe they have) NDSU after their loss to UND decided to adjust personnel to turn the season around. We don’t have that depth but staff needs to get that ASAP. Losers find excuses winners find a way.
  18. And both will find a FBS dropdown or two that will be impact players. Unless UND does the same we will fall farther behind the league and instead of Bubba stepping down leaving team better than he got it, he may have it in the same state as he inherited it.
  19. "There's two people that I have concern how they feel and that's our athletic director and the president of the university," Schweigert said when asked about his future after the game. "The other stuff is outside noise." The thing Bubba omitted, that bothers me the most, is not referencing the players in the lockerroom. He should be concerned about that, you lose the lockerroom you lose the team.
  20. I was referring to fix the major problem (knowing Bubba was staying) which was defense. He did not address that. Offense was not the major issue. USD’s issue was offense, they had a solid D.
  21. 2 years ago we beat USD, head coach on hot seat. USD gets a good OC and some offensive staff and they win a share of the conference title. Major changes are needed PERIOD!
  22. With or without the Griddy entrance.
  23. Or why the offense is stagnant against an average defense
  24. Well odds are Romfo will play the whole game and his passing stats will look decent going against ISU backups in the 4th.
  25. Every team we played this year has had FBS drop downs make an impact. And I am not taking about lower FBS but middle or upper middle FBS. Next season if I hear how every team is able to get an impact player from FBS and we don’t I will probably puke and eat it and puke again.
