Need to temember we have tight ends to throw to.... haven’t seen one yet...

Kett through that interception without even looking at the receiver. If he had, it was wide open ahead of where he through....

Before the game, many of us would have been happy to be in this game on the road against a very good team. It was just hard to watch us take a clear path to winning and throw it away. I have to believe our coaches told the returners to take a knee unless you have a clear path to getting 30 or 35 yards. Nobody would predict a fumble from someone who has been one of our most electric offensive threats. We were outmatched on the line but made enough plays to stay in it. Offensively I thought we needed the trickery as we were not winning it in the trenches. Haven’t all year. Glad to see we have added a slant to our repertoire and not just 3 yard passes to the flats. They worked well. I am seriously hoping however that we are scouring the country to improve our kicking game. That can’t get much worse. Need to finish strong and we should be in. Several quality wins and a good showing on the road against a top 5 team. Not done yet!!!

Was an interesting game. We played down to the opponents level at times which happens. Starters are solid although Walters has to play stronger. Rebraca and Ekens are all conf potential if they continue to progress. Brown and Stewart were solid. Brown still needs to hit the wide open 3 when it comes and didn’t. Stewart has the potential to be a major playmaker but needs to know when it isn’t there. If they correct those things they will be solid. Moody is a great offensive threat but still has a ways to go defensively. Many of Crowns points came from whoever Moody had defensively. Brady seemed like a good strong hustle kid, but plays like a 4 and isn’t very big at 6’4 for that role. Plays hard though. Coudreau is just a step away from breaking through. Nice touch from the outside Seems like he is still learning team defensive mechanics but could be a big help off the bench if he continues to improve. Not sure why atelbauers isn’t playing as our guard play past Moody is not pretty. The new big man may be okay but will need to adjust to the speed of the game. It’s going to get a lot more skilled than crown college. That was my take. Overall optimistic but depth is a concern. DAE and Rebraca are going to be fun to watch.

The fact that the qb head is pulled down to the side and his chest as it happens is pretty telltale to me.

IMG_4037.MOV Bison catch another break. Here is the photo and video of the face mask at the end of the SDSU game that would have been 15 yards and 1st down instead of 3rd and 23. Obvious as hell. SDSU qb’s head snapped to the side. No call IMG_4037.MOV

Extra congratulations to the d coaches this week. Key injuries to work around and they came ready to play next man up. Hitting hard and pursuit like the Sioux D of old. Awesome to see again!!!!

Someone needs to tell kett that going backwards for 20 yards is not his answer...
-
Kett has to find a way to complete a drive. Looks okay for a few sets of downs and then misses everything and makes poor decisions that stall out...
-
Can we connect a pass - please???
-
Getting beat to the puck by a team we should have a speed advantage over... need some hustle to turn this thing around...
-
Great kick!!! Can’t say I was confident but great kick!!!
-
Bubba ball. Get a lead and stop doing what got you there. Go to up the middle runs with the box full. Never changes...
-
D has been solid until 3rd and long or 4th down and we can’t get a stop...
-
Any girls soccer players that can kick a ball over 30 yards????. Can’t believe we have no other athletes that can kick or punt better than what we are seeing now....

I don’t think we can be surprised that our qb and wr play is poor. First, from a recruiting standpoint, what interest are you going to get from top recruits at those positions when all you hear out of Bubba year after year is “4 yards and a cloud of dust.” Kenny Golladay left because the program would never have utilized his abilities. In the first half, Kett was averaging 2.5 yards per (rare) completed pass. For years, we have refused to stretch the field, although Danny certainly has been better and could possibly change that reputation. What qb or wr with top talent dreams of every catch at or within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. We have receivers that all fit the same mold. Tall receivers that can’t separate. Again, difficult to recruit downfield threats when they would never expect to see a ball downfield We have shifted to a pass first scheme this year but don’t have the personnel to match. Kett has never been that guy and certainly was not ready for EW game. Tommy showed glimpses of what can be done in that scheme. If they really go back to Kett again, Chaves will almost be at the point of stepping in. Love Bubba for all of his good traits, but there comes a time when he has to step forward and be a good coach which includes making the right personnel decisions - not just the union mentality of seniority...

Grabbing for the ball instead of tackling is clearly not working...
-
Need serious tackling drills this week. Bison are very talented but we are making them look a lot better with 3 and 4 missed tackles a play....
-
Zimmerman has always been a better down field threat. Takes a few more chances than Ket, but way more explosive. I expect to open it up this half...

Agreed. Men’s basketball is definitely more fun to watch right now than women’s but there is no reason with effort we shouldn’t be filling a field house that is half the size of Hyslop, especially for rival games. A full house with active crowd will go a long way towards bringing students back but it will take an effort on the coaches part to bring fans back. Would love to see a group of regulars that go to the summit tournament too to have a UND presence there also. Used to be a boat to do the SD road trips when they were Friday and Saturday. That would help also but don’t know if that is possible in the D1 era...

For background, we go to both men’s and women’s basketball and have for over 25 years, including going to national tournaments. Part of the fan base problem is having coaches that make efforts to grow the program. That doesn’t happen in UND basketball. Glas was not a stellar coach but he was a good ambassador for the program and active in the surrounding community. At that time, there were 3 times as many fans at games than now, despite now having supposedly higher level basketball. Football for most of the last several years has been a bit of a dumpster fire and yet Bubba has gone out of his way to grow the program and increase attendance. It may not last without improvement but attendance has been better. Nobody knows who Jones is.... there is no outside school and community relations going on that I can see. Couple that with an inability to coach to win a close game and/or close out a game. I realize we just won by 1 but tried to throw away a 10 point lead but for WIU making a couple of colossal mistakes to save us from ourselves. That won’t change until we see a coaching change. We are destined for mediocrity and no fan base. As to women’s, after 25 years, even I am having to talk myself into going to watch that mess... and I never thought I would say that. Changes clearly need to be made....

At the outset, I don’t believe Jones is a terrible coach and I do believe we have brought in some real talent recruiting, at least at the guard positions. What separates good coaches from marginal coaches is the ability to recognize and make adjustments and to adapt your game to the skills of your players. That does not happen with Jones. We still stubbornly stick to an offense with no movement designed for slashing guards to create any offense - except that is not who we have any more. We have better outside shooters this year for a change but no offense designed to get them a look in space. Our whole offensive scheme appears to be whatever Seales and Stewart can create. When they are doubled, like at Ndsu, they shoot 25 percent on 26 shots while the rest of the team stands around and watches. At the end of the game, when we needed two points to tie and we had the ball, the best we could come up with Out of a time out was to have Stewart dribble the clock down to eight seconds, the drive get stopped, and take a step back three after shooting about 25% for the rest of the game. No other movement and no other options. It’s why we lose every close game we are in. Don’t have a go to closer and don’t have a plan that will finish. With SD, We got burnt a dozen times on switches where our guards ended up defending a four or five player down low with either a foul or a bucket. Again, no adjustments made. If we are content with a middle of the conference program with occasional bursts of success in front 1000-1500 fans (the majority of season ticket holders whom are 65 or older), then Jones is our guy. He has been here 12 years and nobody in the region knows who he is, if he weren't the tallest guy in the room. I for one would like to see a targeted effort to grow the program, promote attendance and make UND basketball relevant again. I just don’t see that with Jones....

Hope I am wrong but a 222 yard offensive output against a 4 win team is not likely to impress the playoff gurus.
-
222 yards of total offense for UND. That says it all...

If Rudolph is here next year, there will be less than the 4000 people here today. Apparently it is in his an manual that it is necessary to stare at your primary receiver from the huddle to the pass. As the qb coach, every qb we have has regressed in their abilities throughout the year.... and we are incapable of thinking of a change - in any facet of our offense. Needed a statement here. We made one, all right....
