  1. Remember when Hak's team showed up for the playoffs and played a full 60 minutes, didn't overthink things or play tentatively, and maybe even overachieved a little given the talent they brought to the tournament? Me neither.
  2. http://siouxsports.com/hockey/galleries/177.htm Captions are in progress...
  3. Seems like once ND had the 4-2 lead they started playing defensively, trying to make too many plays by swinging and poking their sticks instead of moving their feet. It was nice to see them start hustling again at the end, but unfortunately too late...
  4. Seems like every team under Hak tends to overthink things in November. Just hope they find a sense of urgency over the holidays like they seem to do every year.
  5. Poor officiating and management of officials is one of the chief factors behind the demise of the WCHA. I suspect a lot of people will lose their weekend jobs when the NCHC begins play.
  6. Isn't it still tied 1-1? I'm not sure I understand...
  7. Penrose cup does sound legit and makes sense. There's already a Spencer Penrose award for coach of the year, but that shouldn't preclude reusing it as a conference trophy name...
  8. I've never thought midnight hockey was any better an idea than midnight basketball. Why not schedule games in Alaska as late afternoon/evening games? I guess it will matter less starting next year...
  9. I think the front page might have pulled the AA score from today by accident...
  10. $15 million will not fully fund faculty, equipment, buildings, etc. needed to fund a new major, but is enough to kick-start a program where tuition, taxes, and other traditional resources are also available much like with every other major. I was on the U's curriculum committee when they added Energy Engineering as a Ph.D program, and it had no such financial or corporate backing at the time. Looks like a great thing for the School of Engineering and Mines, John
  11. Cavalry and Roughriders are my two favorite names as well - both are good, traditional-style team names, with a strong tie to our state's history. John

    Jerseys

I wonder if that isn't part of the goal with an interim jersey - ensure that when you move to the new "Roughriders" or "Cavalry" or whatever jersey that nobody likes the old generic ones better...
  13. Sure, use as you want, just attribute Siouxsports.com/John Dahl if you distribute it. Thanks, John
  14. Photos of the championship game are at: http://siouxsports.com/hockey/galleries/174.htm Click a photo for full-size image, John
  15. Hi Bob, I have a Canon 50D, and use a 70-200 IS Mk II f2.8 for most stuff. I do use a 1.4x teleconverter for some stuff, and other lenses when closer to the ice. Still saving my pennies for the 300mm f2.8...
  16. It appears not Perhaps they were just practicing falling apart for when they join the Big 10 hockey conference, though, as perennial underachiever seems to be their role in most Big 10 sports...
  17. Photo gallery of Friday's semifinal comeback win is posted at: http://siouxsports.com/hockey/galleries/173.htm John
  18. He didn't say much of anything. He stated in the press conference that he called the time out to give the team a moment to rest and regroup. It would be a better story if it included a good speech, though...
  19. He did get a piece of it, but it crept by him and a defenseman cleared it. I am not always 100% serious in my captions...
  20. Thanks, A. Descriptions are now updated, including scores and time of the game. I figured it would be the signed jersey in my avatar that would catch your eye, though...
  21. Not to mention it's actually a "W" that someone sewed on upside-down...
  22. Photos are up at: http://siouxsports.com/hockey/galleries/172.htm As always, click on any photo for a full-size version, John
  23. Wrong J. Dahl, but with Bemidji at 27th right now there might be a risk of a couple losses knocking them out of TUC status. Wisconsin's got the better RPI as well. I'd rather have two wins against Wisconsin than two wins against Bemidji, but I'd rather see Bemidji come here next weekend...
  24. Twisted knee or ankle, perhaps - he was pushed clear of the Denver net on a harmless looking play, then seems to have twisted around on the leg a little and went down fast.
  25. What a horrible call - five minutes and a game miscoudnct for contact to the head when MacWilliam clearly didn't contact his head. The WCHA is truly a bush league when it comes to officiating...
