  1. It's pretty hard to ignore having too many men on the ice, especially when it's that obvious. Minnesota playing with a little more energy was the biggest difference in the game, but by the third period ND wasn't making the same crisp passes they had been all weekend, and seemed not to move their feet quite as quickly, whether to receive a pass, backcheck, or be in a good supporting position for the puck carrier. One team is going to want it more tomorrow night, and I hope it's ND that's a half-step faster...
  2. Scuttlebut among the athletic department types is that Lucia will be back next year. All kinds of supporting rumors, like Lucia wanting to stick around to coach his younger, more talented kid, and Blais having an out in his contract at UNO only to go to MN but not wanting to leave this quickly are also out there, but seem harder to confirm...
  3. DC was one of their best calls in a long time. As for staying in Windsor, just remember you need a passport now, not just a driver's license to go back and forth. John
  4. Thanks. I was on the same side as the player benches for Saturday's game, so didn't get many useful shots of goings on in the bench areas. It looked like they were seconds away from a fight breaking out in the penalty box, though, which could have been more interesting. John

  6. Win a national championship, I believe. Good times.
  7. A lot of nice passing to result in a backhand right in to the writing across the goalie's chest...
  8. Woah, I was sure Zajac had that...
  9. A team that can't hit an open net is going to have trouble winning games...
  10. Jeez, now he's on two guys' shoulders bouncing up and down. I'm embarrassed just to watch...
  11. I can't believe there's some asshat behind the announcers jumping up and down in a Holy Cross sweatshirt. Time to move on, dude...
  12. No doubt - short cross ice passes and puck support don't seem to be ND's strength. It would be nice to see more of a focus on playmaking, like the Sioux teams from ten years ago.
  13. You can't let a slash go at that point, especially when everyone in the arena sees it. It is unfortunate that Minnesota seems to be playing their best hockey of the year starting this game, 2nd period, though...
  14. Woah, those green Sioux uniforms are not attractive. I wasn't a huge fan of the big green numbers on last night's jerseys, but I'd take black over these grass green jerseys any day.
  15. From October 1 for 30-60 days, as needed to get the opinions of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. http://www.twincities.com/news/ci_13461775?source=rss
  16. I agree. ROUGHRIDERS, or perhaps CAVALRY, are among my top choices.
  17. Not only do the have the facilities, the main runway is 7350'x150', about four feet thick, and can handle pretty much anything that flies. Proximity to the air base is rumored to have something to do with the airport's unusual capabilities...
  18. No doubt. Posted a comment on the THN site after I voted...
  19. The Sioux had some notable weaknesses this year, and yet managed to win the McNaughton Cup and were in good position to make a post-season tournament run. One of the great things about college hockey is that players who don't play their positions well like Finley or Eidsness will usually either get better or get replaced quickly, making the "there's always next year" ring a little truer than for most pro teams. I'll take another run of four Final Fours in a row any time. Perhaps starting next year? John
  20. Sioux are 2-0 for making it to the championship game in major flood years, and 1-1 in championships...
  21. Ooh, another timeout. Good thing they only get 37 per period or this game would take forever...
  22. It's not on in Minneapolis yet. ESPN would like to hear from you at 860-766-2000 if you haven't called and would like to see the second period instead of the next five lax overtimes...
