  1. Haven't looked on GPL, and won't, but I suspected that the poster was this member of the Ha**y twins before you named him. He will put down anything Sioux, always has, always will. I would guess if a Sioux fan reads and/or posts on GPL regularly, they've become good at ignoring this one.
  2. One more year in the BCHL (Penticton), due to shoulder injury last year. SCSU assistant leaving to coach the Penticton team.
  3. Thanks, jk and USA Hockey. Like someone's post above, sorting out these USA teams is near impossible.
  4. Didn't understand that; did Kristo participate?
  5. You need a server from which to link it, can be your own isp web space if you upload it there, or another site that allows photo sharing (for instance, photobucket), or, you can talk the admin here into uploading for you.
  6. I believe Kristo goes since he is already a part of the USNDP team, but I may be wrong?
  7. just about like Penner going from Bottno to a SC. Maybe Alabama/Huntsville will win it all next spring.
  8. that's what we've been saying; discard driver, add smooth bore, frustration levels go way down
  9. BS didn't first arrive here in defensive mode, but rather trolled. If he wants to continue to make constructive posts, eventually he won't be ragged on. Until then, he'll be thought of as the same old BS. I only read him when he's quoted, since he's otherwise ignored.
  10. It's the "fan", not the material. BS is a well known troll around here.
  11. Skeet and goose hunting combined. Think you should set up a blind/membership at King's Walk. This looks like the place; blind right on the green, or get some sand colored camo to rent. 9 and 16 look like good locations also, if hunting on 18 gets too crowded,
  12. That would be great; the hell with the bag, balls, shoes, thirteen clubs and the cart. Shotgun and a vest full of shells would make golfing a whole lot more fun. (Does Cheney golf? )
  13. Giant Canada geese love the watered green browse on the greens, and golfers hate getting the stuff Canada geese leave behind stuck to the bottom of their shoes, or having their putts deflect off it. Is one forced to carry just 13 clubs if the 14th is a shotgun?
  14. I'd go with the shotgun theory, but I think it might be better to get rid of both arms for golf, so there would be no temptation to go
  15. Agree with both of you, but I'd rather not have to depend on success with a frosh D. The very large Sioux dmen that became very good defensive players, struggled early in their Sioux careers, and they were defensive dmen. Lots of turnovers, and there are often even more turnovers by young dmen that are better in the offensive end. I'd prefer experienced D over experienced O if you could only have one of the two. Sioux are fairly experienced in both D and O this year, gophers are experienced at O but very young at D.
  16. True, they have been good at the level they play at, but I know junior gold players that have played there, and they are light years from D1 caliber, which makes Penner's success even more unreal.
  17. Seldom works well to have the blue line manned by a bunch of frosh offensive dmen. They have to hope that a couple of the youngsters can play in their own end. Still waiting for the Wooger to say, " what we are lacking is a defensive defenseman"
  18. Bottineau is nothing special for hockey; odd schedule, play some club teams, teams like Minot St., some HS teams, and often have a few players that have played small ND town junior gold league. Unreal that a kid who played there ended up in the Frozen Four for Maine, then get his name on the SC in such a short time span. Bottineau was fired up to have the Cup make a trip there, wonder if Penner headed there after being in Manitoba with it?
  19. I think that's about how the players were in the 70s. The FB players have often been the small town best athlete, are put on a pedestal for it, and come in a bit (maybe a lot) more arrogant, moreso especially than the small town Canada hockey players, where there was always a wealth of talent to play against from other small towns. Had no idea how little the lower league fballers are paid. Saw on article on Digger and someone else playing for teams in MT hoping to get noticed by the NFL.
  20. There's been a bit of a D1/D2 thing going on between football and hockey for years. When I was there in the 70s, the hockey players were much more down to earth than the footballers, most of the footballers had a large chip on their shoulder for some reason. There were little or no options then for a football player to earn anything after college for playing for pay, except a very few individuals that got a shot at the NFL. There are, at least, more options now to play for pay at lower levels of football, just as there are for hockey. Have no idea how the attitudes of hockey vs. football players are now or have been recently, since it's been 30 years since I was around. Although there were some very good hockey players around in the 70s, only a few went on to make a living playing, very different now with the high end talent the Sioux recruit and many more junior tier II players from both the US and Canada getting a shot.
  21. wouldn't put too much weight on RW speculations

    Oshie Watch?

A good reason to avoid mirrors, you feel much younger without them

    Lee Watch

Lee has not yet "performed" in the NHL/AHL. Ottawa payed that rookie max, just like all top round draft picks get. If Ottawa has less success in the following years due to getting the D banged around by bigger forwards (aka Ducks), then I'm sure the GM job will be available; have you applied?
  24. And with both Briere and Drury gone from Buffalo, little doubt that Stafford will be with the big club full time this fall. Seems like Buffalo may have a ways to get back to their success last season.
  25. Fink and Cichy are planning to play in the USHL this fall. Good news if Cichy chooses not to play major junior.
