  1. One of the posters here emailed Pat Sweeney at WDAZ yesterday and got the following immediate response. We have reached agreement on a one-year extension of the current contract, so it takes us only through the 2008-09 school year. All home men's hockey games will be televised, along with two road men's hockey games, and one home men's football game. Time to buy the systems and get them installed, although for fixed system buyers/owners, the satellite is still unknown.
  2. The game in the WCHA will not change as long as holding and obstruction are legal. It favors the Wisco type game, and, a team that might play more wide open is at a disadvantage if the opponent can hold and obstruct. As a result, all teams in the WCHA are forced to play that game if they want a chance to win. The Blais coached teams would have had to do the same thing Hakstol teams are doing, the small fast team of the late 90's would have a tough time winning now the way the league teams play and the way the rules are enforced.
  3. Sounds likes it's just about time for an FTA system install in Iowa. Although I'd guess it's fun to join other Sioux fans to watch in a smoky bar, I kind of like watching from my lazyboy on my own big screen TV;) Of course, where I live, the only component we have locally is the smoky bar
  4. That's correct. PSB sent the money that had already been donated to St. Jude's, and any other donations should go there as Bob requested.
  5. It appears the Pres./CEO of Cedar Brewing is also the ebusiness mgr at Rockwell Collins, so, if that's where you'll work you may have someone to contact. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m346..._53/ai_91212733 It's apparently now called the "3rd base sports bar and brewery" http://www.thirdbasebrewery.com/home.asp?page=home
  6. Guess it is true that many good players will accept less than other teams offer to play for the Red Wings. I think the league needs a Red Wing rule to add to the salary cap rules if the playing field is to be made level. Unreal.
  7. Not to mention Sioux fans installing FTA systems can almost singlehandedly keep PSB in the business A heads up, the G26 (93W, last season's location for FSSN) is dying, year round FTA channels on that sat are jumping ship to nearby satellites. All that means is those of you with fixed systems will likely be repointing them to another bird this fall (maybe back to 89W)
  8. Also an unbelievable number of nasty blatant checks from behind that rivaled those by Demarchi during his career. None were called penalties; so much for that emphasis on cfb's by the WCHA.
  9. Quite the fight card; maybe that will be his best route to playing in the NHL.
  10. Maybe Bickel can be a fighter/enforcer; of course that may require something more than throwing f-bombs while hiding behind a teammate/coach.
  11. You've got a point, and, I am a newcomer to the Norsky accent. And I do stay far away, and upwind, of ludefisk.
  12. And it's even easier than that for those individuals to illegally own a gun. After all the rules you want non-dangerous citizens to abide by, only the dangerous individuals will have guns.
  13. Luckily, if you live in western ND, the only pronunciations you need to know are johnson, anderson, and olson Any guesses as to how the Wooger will pronounce the name?
  14. Who are "they". Felons cannot posses firearms, period. I'd guess you're asking for firearms to be taken away from honest citizens. Anyone who may want to shoot at you will get one illegally, you can bet on that.
  15. That's no doubt correct, Sic; unfortunately for Finley, he was the one in the camera on national TV, most didn't even realize there was a dman missing (or who he was) from the picture (as well as 3 forwards). The defense taking lots of chances was the norm for the year, imo they should be more selective in when/where to take those chances. The coaches obviously wanted it played that way as it went on all year. The lack of a high end offensive opponent (as well as the allowed holding and interference in the WCHA) made up for that type of play all year long in the regular season.
  16. I agree with this, he played great all year, and was frequently the lone dman back facing the plethora of 2 on 1's the team gave up in virtually every game, and he often broke them up, if not, Lammy made the save. For just one game, against Gerbe, he was the only one back once again, but in that one game, was made to look bad. Where was the rest of the team on those oddman rushes. I haven't been used to seeing Sioux hockey so defensively unsound as they played all year last year, but, until one game in the FF, they got away with it for the most part. I wouldn't want a change to Badger hockey, but, covering your arse on the back side is not a bad way to play.
  17. Dave's got just a few issues, and contradictory one's at that. No to smoking control, yes to gun control, to name just two of the most recent discussions. In other words, the government needs to step in where it suits him, but stay away where it does not.
  18. It's Lucia's and the Gophers fault, when a dman can sleepwalk all year against the likes of the gophers offense, and not give up anything, it's a shock to face the likes of Gerbe in a playoff game. Wouldn't give up any senior dman for anyone; Finley will be a stud, not to mention a team leader.
  19. Since Bob started the ball rolling for getting an FTA system for the young lad Nick last winter, I think it's time we do the same for Bob and son, who can then watch the Sioux from home this fall. Pete has volunteered to give a discount on a system, and dmsi owner MrTim is giving a discount in addition; if Sioux fans donate as little as $1 apiece, we can have the system paid for in days. You can make donations via paypal to installsat@aol.com (PSB's business account). Pete will also make the appeal on the visionplus forum. Hopefully we can donate enough quickly to come up with a motorized system for Bob and his young Sioux hockey fan.
  20. We certainly will; hope everything turns out as good as the prognosis.
  21. I would have loved it if 70's adults had mandated smoke free bars for me when I was in my 20's.

  23. I have two o&u's'; if you spend the bucks on one, you can't miss, way too much money to miss

I've already emailed it to some gopher fan coworkers of mine to make sure they get their jerseys properly cleaned before next season.
