Question for Hammer: What is a "10 minute game misconduct"? Get it right, please: Shots that hit the outside of the net are not, "off the post". And when a player serves a penalty for another, that player was not penalized himself. Can't remember any announcer ever with such a lack of game knowledge.

FTA is missing from that list. HD FTA would be even nicer. We weren't pining for FTA because we've had it for years.

Not sure which game you're talking about, but the Friday night outdoor game is on NBC Sports. We'd planned to go originally, but after looking at the setup in a baseball park (just no good seats), and the high price of the seats, seemed better to save the expense of the trip and watch on TV.

To be fair Michigan played a totally different game against the Sioux than against Duluth. Red knew they were outclassed and totally packed it in around the net making it impossible to get shots through, the lucky bounce was needed, and the Sioux didn't get it. Michigan Tech played exactly the same game at GF in the WCHA playoffs first round, scored first, but were beaten 3-1 when the Sioux got a few of those bounces. Michigan played straight up against Duluth, and got the game to OT; had they played that same game against the Sioux, they would have lost by a big margin. Maybe Michigan should have played the same game against Duluth in the championship.

Since the NHL started again, dish (and I assume directtv) are using a lot of bandwidth doing almost all center ice nhl telecasts in HD (they were already doing lots of NBA HD and college hockey on fox regionals in HD as well). No doubt that leaves less room for other broadcasts (like Midco). Unfortunately it is probably also indicative of how much interest dish and directv may have in adding midcosports net to their sports packages by next year, when a lot of us lose all access to ND hockey (other than the 2 or 3 games on CBSSN).

Is Chyzk even there any longer? The GF Herald article lists only Mattson, O'Donnell, and Gaarder as healthy scratches.

The team last night looked exactly like the Gopher teams at the end of the Woog era; lots of talent that didn't care to play. That lasted for an entire year+ under Woog. Tonight's game and the remainder of the season will decide if last night was an aberration or the new norm. The Bjorkman teams played harder than this, just didn't have the talent to compete.

any full 20 would have been nice

Appears that is a link to the "mobile' video. Doesn't work on my desktop, but if you click desktop at the top of the page, you can search for "nail yukapov" and find the desktop video that will work. Or remove the "m." from the beginning of the url and you will get to the desktop video as well.

How is Frattin NOT with the Maple Leafs to start the season?

NORTH DAKOTA @ MINNESOTA - Saturday, one last dance....
sprig replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Really thought the Gophers would score after that blatant noncall. Came down the ice 5 on 3 after tripping Rowney, and set up for some good chances. ND got lucky. -

The general will go tonight if someone accepts the invitation. -
Minnesota is probably lobbying hard for Adam to be there

15-1 shots is a bit better period

Calls that are only made consistently when a Gopher is hit. For everyone else, rarely gets called, even when it's obvious. Borderline like this one, often not even a penalty.
-
On the other hand I think we need a total of 11 referees/linesmen on the ice, so we can have a full "huddle" after every whistle. One period now lasts almost as long as a whole football game anyway.

And that's the final verdict, gpl fans have decided Rocco is "selfish". Congrats on enough crazy posts over there that it is now truth

No travel advise now in the north half of the state, starting west of GF at about Larimore all the way to the Montana border.
-
Heavy snow predictions now have been moved to eastern ND, 6-12", strong wind, GF now in blizzard warning for this afternoon/night. Get there early today or you may not get there.

While I am a hockey guy first, I like football as well, and I hope that sometime soon UND can compete for your faux-D1 national championship in football.

It's close to the way the played the second period, giving up several odd man rushes, then a flat third period where they just settled for defending. Lost their edge, and started like they ended last night.

Looked for it, can't find it, and the one I thought it was, exactly like your description, was made by Gaudreau, no matter, it makes no difference now. You're a fan of what college hockey team? Edit: Found it, it was a Rocco turnover with a minute left in the second period, backhand pass from the boards meant for Trocheck breaking out of the dzone, but it didn't connect, went to the Canadian near the blue line. US D was still in place, and the shot was stopped by Gibson (slot is exaggerating, unless you meant very high slot). Gibson made many more difficult saves than this one, and there were many more dzone turnovers by multiple US players throughout the tourney. Second guessing, Rocco should have just backhanded the puck up the boards and out to neutral ice. Hradek had been ripping Rocco all game long, and did it again on this one; not sure why he continued the Rocco bashing, yet gave all other US players passes without comment when they turned over the puck, made a poor pass, or whiffed on defense. Again, I saw little or nothing earlier in the tourney that warranted his sitting a game, nor did I see anything that warranted Lucia sitting two games. At any rate, Hradek singled out Rocco, for reasons we don't know, and can only speculate.

Even when praising Rocco's work and the 2 goals, Hradek takes yet another shot at him as "sometimes being too cute in the defensive end". Show me one time Rocco's been "too cute" in this entire tournament. He's been making good plays in the d end since day 1, even when he shouldn't be the forward that should have had to be back there. And what other small US forward has won a battle against the Big Swede dmen behind the net, until Rocco did before the first goal. Answer: none.
