  1. That is neat. Sounds like you work in a concrete, number based industry. Football is not that. Clearly Chaves sees something in Bubba because his success is directly correlated to his success in a way. We do not hold our head coach to a lower standard than someone in the business world. The world of college football requires you to work 1-2 years for free in most cases. Did you do that for your high stress job? Coaching college football is a stressful job for, usually a terrible salary. Yep. Bubba gets PAID. However, he has worked to get there, just like most in college football and it takes time to get to any Head Coaching position. Your misunderstanding of people's work ethic, livelihood, and well-being is concerning. I know that's part of the job is taking criticism from people who have never been in the industry and never will, but come on man. No one is sitting there saying "You know you are above average, but we want better."
  2. So you let someone go who is doing an adequate job because there is someone out there who might do better? Man I don't know what you do, but if you get canned tomorrow and you boss says "We like what you do, but we just feel there is something better out there". I hope you take it with humility, because that's what your asking Chaves to do. To bring it all in remember, the coordinators and assistants do 99% of the work and that's at any program. The HC is simply a personality and for North Dakota Bubba fits that.
  3. I hope all of you are perfect at your job and work miracles daily. This was a once great program. 20 years ago. Bubba and he staff have shown that the are making positive steps to improve the program with what they are working with. Honestly, FCS wise its probably one of the hardest schools to get decent playmakers to when they could just go 60 miles south and win national championships. Also, the program currently doesn't have locker rooms. What I am getting at is, I love he passion on here for UND football, but let's be real this is not a destination spot for coaches. Right now, Bubba is the best we can do and keeping him means keeping his staff, which if you go to any games, practices, or coaching clinics you know Bubba has done a solid job assembling his coaching staff, which is one of the most important jobs of a Head Coach. I get it everyone on here is sick of average. Well they've been to the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years and without a slew of injuries it would have been 3 of 3. I know I'll get some smart remarks about this post, but we need to be realists. UND football is making improvements. Not as drastic as most would like, but they are noticeable.
  4. I hope you are right! The way I look at it UND needs one of the two Local PWO kids to pan out (Zavalney or Overby). Would be interesting to see what others think of who will rise up out of these two local guys or if both will.
  5. I just realized, our defense could be very stingy. Staying healthy will be key, but that's a really athletic crew for Hollinka to walk into.
  6. I've been saying that to myself for years. Until NDSU shows a slight sign of slowing down, I just going to keep telling myself they will continue to dominate to not let my expectations get in the way of current reality.
  7. Never used the word envy. The gap is still gigantic, but let's be honest, the gap is gigantic between the entire FCS and NDSU. I do believe UND is closing the gap, but we are still 5-10 years away from being competitive with them unless something unexpected happens. As a UND football fan, we need to take every "win" we can get, because when competing with that juggernaut, they are going to be few and far between.
  8. As far as RB goes, I really don't think we can look at JJ as a huge loss, I know the line was subpar last year, but let's be real special backs make something happen and he really didn't create any opportunities for himself. Gee was "meh" and I see him as our 4th most explosive weapon in the backfield. Looking for Skokna, Mitchell, and Weah to make up the RB position next year with Gee spelling when need be.
  9. I really think QB/RB/WR will all have guys step up and we won't lose much as far as production. However, TE scares the sh*t outta me right now.....
  10. I'm sorry, but this is a terrible take. 1.) I'm sure NDSU does enjoy their TE from Wisconsin, however in their offense they need 2-3 per class to develop, so I'm sure they would have loved Klein if they had a shot at him. 2.) Terhark is a walk-on. They clearly don't think they world of him. Satter will play D at that school in Fargo, so he isn't comparable to Belquist in this situation. 3.) They are worried about UND snagging in state kids who can compete. As you stated yourself, "Look at which school has more ND kids contributing for them. I think NDSU is getting any ND kid they think can contribute." If that changes, which it is startly to slighty shift, NDSU starts sweating a tad.
  11. See and I know Burian has the speed, but everytime I go to practice he drops numerous passes. They love Lennon on the DL so he won't be going anywhere soon. Watch them flex Zavalney to TE when they need an athletic look.
  12. I completely agree with you. I think our transition into the valley will be very until and tough to tell where we sit until we play the games. I do feel that those bottom end Valley teams and very poor, where last season we didnt have many "incredibly bad" teams on the schedule. Ya ya I get it the top end Valley teams are good, but take the Bison out of there and it's a slightly above average conference. I think WR will be fine. Maeg is a legit NFL. Cochran will be a legit shifty dude we have been missing in the past. Watch for Zavalney to step up be that missing piece. 360 guys like him and they have intel we don't. That with the 4-game freshman rule and we will be fine. I do agree with you though. All in all, we aren't very deep.
  13. Guarentee they are still pissed off about not getting Klein and Bellquist.
  14. I agree with this. In my opinion, Vaughn and Mitchell have the best chance offensively to get their shirts pulled, due to those being two spots we are somewhat lacking depth. The only thing with Mitchell is he may be very similar Skokna, which isn't a bad thing, but would allow the staff to keep him at or under 4 games. I don't see any wide receivers having their shirts pulled. They were able to keep Cochran and Zavalney another year by not red shirting them and I believe they will end up playing a good amount with Maag and Boltman next season. Defensively, I would say Agyekum has a decent shot to not redshirt. His hips are quick enough to play D1 football already and well you can never have enough DBs.
  15. As much as I enjoy when UND is at the top of these lists, they are hard to put a ton of stock into. Remember, one of the highest profile recruits UND has brought in the last five years was Zeke Ott and well as unfortunate as it was, it didn't pan out. You can never truly know who will flop, get hurt, or transfer.
  16. All in all, I think in the end they will bring in a JUCO or Grad Transfer to be the starter. If that isn't the case, even though they are young, it still isn't a terrible situation. Competition is always a good thing and there hasn't always been a ton of competition at that position in the past.
  17. They also won two games they maybe shouldn't have this year and almost beat a Weber team on the road they shouldn't have came close to......
  18. Ya I am far from an NDSU fan, but I don't think the MWC is something NDSU wants a part of. That conference has really lost some clout if you ask me. Boise is your top dog and they are no where near the current FBS playoff format. This maybe gets NDSU some intriguing non-conference games and a gator bowl yearly, but that's not what Bison fans want. Let's also remember, there are more sports than football that would have to more over......
  19. In my mind, it really doesn't make sense for NDSU to move up to any conference, but the BIG10 and they know that. They also know that competing in the BIG10 would be incredibly difficult for them in all aspects of the move. I do see the argument for the MWC, but at the same time, even if they dominated that conference, which they possibly could, the ceiling there is low and they would never be National Champions ever again.
  20. When you put something out there like best "QB Coach in the Country" it is pretty black and white. If he isn't the top guy I would want on my staff to coach lead the QBs, he is not, in my opinion, the best in the country.
  21. His QBs have without a doubt been the best in the FCS. There is no argument about that. I think we often forget there are 130 FBS out there that have some legit coaches. I know I know "BuT tHe BiZoN bEaT fBs TeAmS", I still believe if he was that great of a QB whisperer he would be in the FBS or the NFL.
  22. After he is the HC, once Entz takes a better gig than what he has at NDSU.
  23. If he is the greatest QB coach in the nation, I'm quitting my job and going to coaching QBs I could easily make the top 100 list if he is #1!
  24. Well I am just saying click on your profile and go look at every single one of your comments. Literally every comment you post is negative. When was the last time you said anything positive about UND football?
  25. My opinion: Dosch is old. We talk about how being able to recruit plays a huge factor in this, well kids these days want to play for "cool" young coaches. Bubba knows he is the old "old" dude on staff and that his best days are behind him. He needs to set the program up for what he thinks will help most in the future, regardless of past experience at times.
