  1. Why would you cheer for a team you literally have nothing positive to say about? That's like being a Browns fan because you know it will piss you off and bring negativity into your life. Unless you played for UND or have a child on the current squad, I highly suggest you find a new team to follow because there is a very slim chance this team ever lives up to your expectations.
  2. My initial though is here is where you plug in someone with FBS type experience. Similar to what we got with Pawlak (who is a great coach) we look to find someone who has been hanging around FBS programs in some coaching aspect and maybe even played for one.
  3. If you know anything about taking over a program, you know that the first 2-3 years are a wash because what was there when you got there was not exactly what you want for your schemes and beliefs. Not disrespect, but it is not like Bubba took over Bama. He took over a hockey school's football program. We won a Big Sky Championship, which I consider the best overall conference in the FCS. Ya I know you are going to start on "the Mighty Valley", but look at the bottom half of the Valley. It's real bad. Look at your last ten comments, are you even a UND fan or just someone who comes on here to piss off true fans with negativity and moaning?
  4. I bet they give him a very modest 2 year extension, then hand the reigns to Danny. With Schmidt gone, that opens the door for Danny to be hired in the near future, unless they open it up and someone incredibly impressive applies.
  5. Average teams don't make the playoffs. That's what above average teams do. We beat Montana State this year, who willed themselves all the way to the Semi Finals. You really think we are average. This is a hockey school. We are fortunate to have a football program that is competitive to go along with it.
  6. They made the playoffs this year with possibly the hardest schedule in the FCS. Settle down. He is far from on the chopping block.
  7. False. I would say if Bubba decided to step down and they hired Danny Freund to be the HC few would complain......
  8. How would people ever move up in the coaching world if internal hiring didn't happen?
  9. All in all, I would almost put money on the fact that the DC hire will either be Dosch or one of the two guys from within get promoted. I really don't see anyone else that has interest in the job getting the job over them.
  10. Isn't Bubba one of the lowest paid HC in the FCS as well?
  11. Part of this is to keep our expectations on here in check. I haven't the slightest idea who I would hire, however, I won't be surprised if it is an internal promotion with a hire of a new defensive assistant. As far as outside hires, I wouldn't be surprised by Dosch or someone else with familiarity to the staff. It is hard to hire someone to be a coordinator that doesn't have a relationship with the current staff. That being said, don't expect a splashy hire.
  12. I'm saying that is what I want. Just calling the shot before it occurs ha
  13. Honestly, this is the first class I have seen that remotely stacks up to NDSU by just watching the High School film. I'm optimistic!
  14. I have watched both play in person. Two times for Bo, three times for Carrier. Very different players. I would say Bo can do more and shows a high level of athleticism. Whereas, Carrier is that "let's see what we can make you" type guy. Nice size, good vert, and hands. Seems to be a little too emotional when playing, whereas Bo is calm, cool, and collective. For what UND does, I like Bo. For what NDSU does, who cares about receivers because they will just continue to run power ha
  15. Andrew Leingang out of Century is the best overall high school football player in the state at the time.
  16. I'm not huge on Satter. Undersized and didn't prove to be a true game changer at the AAA level in my opinion. I don't know enough on the Kava kid to comment on that one, but I know his brother was over hyped out of high school, but like I said I won't say anything there. I will say the Miller kid is legit. However, I believe in the importance of recruiting local, but our Wisconsin, Nebraska, Illinois, and Minnesota recruits are MUCH more important.
  17. Let's be real here: you can't live on recruiting ND/MN. I feel like Bubba and the boys have done a much better job recruiting locally then we have in the past. First and foremost, I Klein is my top recruit in the state. We snagged him. The top "local" recruit would be the kid from Barnsville and well he is going to Iowa State. I also know for a fact NDSU had interest in Bo Belquist and we have him coming our way as well. Those are my top two ND dudes and they are hawks. If we are talking ND and ND alone for recruiting, yearly there will be an average of 2-3 kids who can legit play FCS football, I wouldn't get too giddy on the locals.
  18. What in the world does this have to do with the 2020 Hawk Football Season? Frankly, I don't care how many time Zach Vraa broke his collarbone. Maybe this is why UND is struggling to be more than average. The fanbase is dwelling on some dudes collarbone.
  19. Completely agree. I would say our QB, DL, LB, RB, and OL rooms are all more of a concern than our wide receivers. I know Danny did a great job with them and it looks like the new guy is following suit.
  20. Looking forward, I completely agree. Maag has to be the man. It is that simple. To compliment Maag, I do believe Zavalney will be the guy to step into Toivonen's role next year. Looking at him in warm-ups are during practice he definitely passes the eye team and did make some very impressive catches during fall camp. Cochran is something we have been missing for a couple years now. Good speed, good hands, and plays with a lot of emotion and grit, which is evident. Boltman and McKinney are hard for me to even call true WR's, as they show the ability to produce in multiple positions. Griebel is the guy I am looking to make a step up moving forward. He was rather highly touted coming to UND and I guess I would just like to know where he fits in.
  21. Coaches are assigned regional areas for recruiting in most programs I have been around. It's not like the DL coach only recruits DL, the QB coach only recruits QBs, etc. You have an area you scout hard and pass along who can ball and who can't.
  22. I don't know whose fault it is that our OL is undersized. However, Knauf getting canned was a great move for this program. Literally, the only thing he had going for him was that he played for Wisconsin. There is a reason he isn't coaching anymore.....
  23. This is a solid post. I think all of the things said about Bubba are valid points. My thought is, despite the glaring downfalls, he has seemed to do a nice job bringing in a quality staff to support him (correct me if I am wrong). I feel like for the most part we have solid position coaches who do a nice job working with what we have and putting players in a position to succeed.
  24. I agree with you on that one. I can't help but think of how powerful our offense would be if we focused on developing the run. Our offense is above average-good there is no way around that. However, if the line improves and Skokna keeps rolling and we find a complimentary piece to help him out (no not McKinney, he is a nice gadget player, but not what we need) we will be just fine against MVFC defenses
