Despite his size Bina plays physical. Expect every D-man to way 10-15 pounds more by this point next year.

Toews gathers more iron than a Ranger working a double shift...

Really 2006 looks close to set, but 2007 is absolutely empty where many teams have multiple recreuits. What gives? I expect updates VERY soon...
-
Evan Trupp, from the BCHL Penticton Vees, is expected to make a college decision soon, choosing between Wisconsin for this year, or UNH or North Dakota in 2007. -from Heisenburg

Of course not, then we wouldn't have 25 year old Canadians...

Thank you both, I thought I was the only one who realized underage drinking was not the serious issue here.

I saw this buried in another thread out wanted to bring it out. Thanks Goon. This is big, because Finley will be out for 2-6 and Chorney, Lee will be at World Juniors. This leaves: Jones Smaby Radke Marvin Foyt Alexander Could be interesting against Harvard. Edit: Anyone know if the R/L D works with these 6 or will we have an off hand pairing?

Blake left the Wild game tonight and was brought to the hospital. No update yet.

Don't forget to hit Sally's after the game. Get some fries and have a James Page.

Same reason as Stafford. Keeps the D honest. The PK is a different role and a smart player (Kessel) knows how to play it. Having Kessel on the ice will prevent the D from coming deep into the zone.

True, I forgot about that play.

I have finally sobered up after Saturday night, so here are my thoughts. #1) UMTC is good and the Sioux are good. The Sioux deserved better than 0 points. The two blown calls were significant in two 1 goal games, but UMTC also played well. The Sioux did not get a bounce. That WILL even out after time. UMTC and the Sioux were both dominant at times. UMTC really got some good bounces (and calls). Both teams appeared dominant at times because neither team has the talent to completely dominate the other. #2) The one view only replay must be changed. By looking at multible views you could see that Oshie did score, but in the overhead view it was hard to see the puck unless you knew exactly where to look. #3) I think that Toews outplayed Kessel, and expect that the scouts arrived at the same conclusion. As F.M. said, "That's why Kessel doesn't play defense." Note that I am not flaming Kessel, I think he is the 2nd best freshman in hockey... Both players disappeared at times, in large part due to the quality of the other team. Toews has improved considerably this season. #4) The Sioux are the tougher team, but UMTC is much better than the group of pansies they fielded last year. They have gotten some good size and strength with Wheeler and Stoa. This allows them to have a better forecheck. #5) If the question mark is goaltending for UMTC, it was answered this weekend. We'll see if it continues. The Sioux should go back to a goalie rotation, both are just so talented, lets not wear one down. #6) The Sioux have improved significantly since the begining of the season. I expect that 1 by 1 they are passing teams. I think that this will continue and that in March the Sioux will be near the top of college hockey. #7) What Smaby did to Potulmy may be illegal in some countries. Smaby turned their best player into a non-factor after the hit. Young D-men take notice. Also Oshie is an unrefined animal. He has so much raw talent and will only get better. I thought Lee played well. He scored an NHL goal. I'd like to see more of Finley's shot. Where was Kozak? #8) I think Prpich killed the Sioux on Saturday. After the Sioux scored to make it 2-1, his line came out and was inept and traped in its own end. Prpich had 2 (maybe 3) chances to clear and get a line change and he absolutly blew it. Minnesota scored and we didn't hear the crowd until the 3rd period. #9) The crowd sucked... again... It's be said... No need to harp on this... #10) I see the Sioux in Milwaukee...
-
Prpich is an error. BUT the NHL does maintain a top 10 college list...

All good points. I agree, but on this site Paukovich will always be garbage. I do think that he is a good pick for the team though. When you do what he did that hatred is deserved.

I do find it funny that the BCHL refers to non BC players as imports...

I am assuming he is a speed guy. Not the biggest build. Evan Trupp-LW Penticton (BCHL) 5'8 145 10-22-87 1-0-0-0-0 2004 USA U-18 team; 2003 USA U-17 team

From the WSJ:

You are correct, it was against SCCC EDIT: I need to refresh faster...

That's the wrong attitude, just ask Duluth.

I'll soon have my second Masters Degree from there so it's not quite as funny for me...

I think that the best shot that the Sioux will have for Hobey this year is Stafford. Why? Because numbers talk, and his numbers are good nationally, and could potentially improve given a relatively slow start. A few more 6 point weekends should to the trick...
-
I agree, I Kessel is the man, an incredible talent and I am glad we get to see him in the WCHA. I expect him to be fired up after being useless against Wisconsin.
-
I noticed on of the linked article mentioned that the Can/Am game was played yesterday. Who was scoring this year since Greene is gone? How many Americans became Canadian? We could use a sudo report.

OK AZSIOUX, don't make me start another thread. I'll do it...
