  1. Finishing checks, controlling the net front, knocking them off the puck, being strong with the puck, winning the battles in the corner, holding the blue line...and oh my, the horror, yes making some big hits to rattle them. Physicality doesn't automatically mean just big bone crushing illegal cheap hits and concussions... so relax. Teams push other teams around in A LOT of other aspects of the game other than body checking like I listed. Many teams even do in games where body checks aren't even legal. But in this league, where it IS legal, there's nothing wrong with giving out some legal booming hits to rattle them because that'll make them tentative with the puck which will lead to bad decisions and turn overs which lead to more UND scoring opportunities. Should that be their entire game? Absolutely not Let your hair down a little.
  2. It’s gross we even have to say the word revenge when we’re talking about canisus.
  3. Who gives a F what Mankato thinks and who gives a F about the pairwise. These boys need to throttle Canisus to no end BOTH nights to correct the hockey universe. Both hockey programs need to be reminded of where things really stand in the college hockey world, and two horrible blow outs are the only way to reinstate that reality. Most importantly the team, coaching staff and fan base need this double blow-out to remedy and wash away the bad taste from last season once and for all (for the most part). No slowing down and no mercy on the scoreboard or with the physicality. Get these kids to learn to have that killer instinct right away to start the season so they can carry that mind set all season long. All business, all game long, every single weekend. Because after these two past seasons, they obviously know what it’s like not being able to have that fire-power or ability to bury teams, or even beat them. Give them this new feeling of being able to destroy teams that embarrassed them recently and they’ll never want to go back. They’ll play salty all season long and just bury and embarrass teams who can’t keep up. I think two embarrassing blow outs will be the only way to wash away all the canisius jokes that have been floating around for the past year. Series like that are heard around the country and are remembered for years. They can and do hurt the reputations of programs. Proving that it was an absolute fluke, will suppress all of that junk. I hope Berry and the boys are as pissed as I am. And I hope they stay that way all year Long. No better time or place to showcase this new attitude than in front of a thirsty crowd at the Ralph on opening weekend.
  4. I was the opposite as a kid. I wanted to join an underdog team and be apart of building them up on their rise to the top. I wanted to be a piece to the puzzle that built a team up to win a championship. The small chance of that success was more drawing to me than joining a team that is already on top and is kicking out rings before you were even around. Going from middle of the road to the best of the best during your time there would've been the most rewarding championship of all. Just being another notch on the belt and your team being blended in with a lot of other great teams just doesnt seem that rewarding. Especially taking the risk of actually being the disappointment but not winning the ship even after a great season. That just seems unattractive to me. I do however understand the draw behind joining a team on top and being apart of continued success in all, but I was just wired different I guess. I always have high hopes that some of the top recruits have that same thought process.
  5. UND possibly has the worst duo of kicker and punter in the entire country. Worse yet, probably 2 years in a row. That’s on the coaching staff 100%
  6. Cold blooded killers on special teams
  7. D1 punter folks. 30 yard punt average right now
  8. Certainly is a viable question. To a point I think most guys play the way they were born to play so it’s probably more about which guys you have on your team, but coaches can certainly mold players to play with a certain demeanor as well. So I’d say yes with an asterisk
  9. Okay come on...they’re obviously just the cream of the crop of the type of player I’m talking about. Hextall, Rowney...who else ?
  10. Just give us a team full of guys the complete opposite of Casey Johnson and they'll win a lot of games. I still can't take Barry seriously as a HC letting guys like him and Rieger to take up valuable roster space. Those guys will struggle in Beer League after college
  11. Work as hard as you want and have all the puck possession time you want, but if you're going to be tossed around by your opponents physically and not have any slot or net presence to create goal scoring opportunities then you'll see the same result we've seen the last two seasons. It'll be lots of shots, lots of puck possession and fewer than 5 scoring oppurtunites in an entire game and a big L handed to you in a low scoring tilt. Size plays a part, but mostly the core of this team just doesn't have the fight needed to be more physical and hungry for the puck and for scoring opportunities. How often did we see UND crash the net hard on zone entries? Very few. The toughest guys on the ice are very rarely the largest, and anyone who has played hockey (or even other sports) knows that is very true. I sure hope some of these freshman will bring some bite to this team, because the core we've had for the past two years avoid contact, and wrap around the net instead of crashing the net. Extremely boring and frustrating to watch. Yes someone will mention Cole Smith...but he doesn't have what I'm talking about. He just has the head hunter mentality and certainly is a big mean tough guy, but I'd rather have the mean little guys who can score and who's motors never stop. Just in recent memory obviously guys like Cagguila and Frattin fit the bill.
  12. Noah Larson is the most well rounded player on the team IMO. I think he probably has the best chance at the next level, which is still slim.
  13. I'll only be happy if they score 8+ goals. I hope they got all the goblins out of their system last season.
  14. Agreed, and I am hopeful Freund isn't scared to make the changes needed ASAP rather than letting them linger. It's a short season and even one L waiting things out can cost them the season.
  15. Exactly. So great prediction by you figuring you used that as the basis of your argument of why he isn’t broken and would have a good season.
  16. Remember when I said kett was broken by Rudy and would suck this season and everyone flipped on me? Called me an idiot and called him a navy seal
  17. I agree this season is the best chance for them as well. I’m talking about how I had to decipher his comment to you is how you’re confused and behind
  18. I think he means terrible track record against EWU historically. You're always a step behind goon
  19. UND needs to get their run game figured out. They won't be able to out-sling EWU even on a down season.
  20. Pizza is actually surprisingly good there. Haven’t tried anything else yet
  21. Extremely good idea actually Rather than invest a large amount of money into a failing theater in hopes that it'll revive it. Glad to see it's doing better anyway.
  22. 360 on Twitter as well.
  23. https://www.grandforksherald.com/business/4600789-boardings-increase-grand-forks-airport This shows some recent promise at least for 2019. Hopefully this trend continues
  24. I like this. Change is good Maybe pucks will go in the net in the mornings and build that confidence!
  25. I'm excited to see this new CC transfer. Sometimes 1 guy is all the difference for PP success. They don't even necessary need to be extraordinary, they just need to be the missing piece chemistry wise. I have a good feeling about him!
