  1. This is my thought as well, it's tough to be concerned given the track record of the coaching staff and the classes they have lined up in '19 & '20. Do I think it's weird they don't, definitely. Last year at this time they had three 02's already lined up. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a mini run though over the next couple of months of 03's.
  2. I'm thinking Pinto could very well be a JBD type situation, not in the 1st round draft pick sense, but someone who developed a lot faster than the coaching staff initially anticipated.
  3. Stratton definitely, but he won't be taking a spot on the roster since he's not eligible to play next year. I'm assuming Berry will bring players in based on readiness and not age group, I think Randklev gets pushed back. The four I named (if the season progresses as it's going right now), will not only all be "higher sought after prospects", but also will all have much better numbers (also all four likely drafted).
  4. I also think we'll have 4 F / 2 D coming in next year. The only true early departure I could see is Poolman and possibly one other (like a Rieger and move Johnson back to D to open up another F spot). Forwards: Rizzo, Blaisdell, Caulfield, Pinto Defense: Bast, Frisch Re Poolman: I'm not convinced he's gone. If he's not, then bring in whichever two of Bast / Frisch are ready (most likely Bast, Frisch is just a Senior this year).
  5. USHL Pinto - '00 (F): 9-6-15 (14GP) Halliday - '02 (F): 2-5-7 (10GP) Miller - 01' (D): 2-5-7 (14GP) Frisch - '00 (D): 2-6-6 (15GP) Randklev - '99 (F): 1-5-6 (14GP) Mancinelli - '01 (F): 2-3-5 (14GP) Costello - 00' (F): 1-1-2 (12GP) Reid - 01' (D): 0-1-1 (13GP) Schmaltz - 01' (F): 0-0-0 (11GP) NTDP U18 Caulfield - 01' (F): 6-9-15 (18GP) Rowe - 01' (G): 3.90 GAA / .858 SV% NTDP U17 Sanderson -02' (D): 0-8-8 (18GP) Kleven -02' (D): 0-2-2 (15GP) AJHL Bast - 00' (D): 3-11-14 (15GP) BCHL Blaisdell - 01' (F): 15-11-26 (24GP) Stratton - 99' (F): 4-18-22 (23GP) Bowen -02' (F) 8-6-14 (24GP) Rizzo - 01' (F): 0-8-8 (6PG)
  6. The Big Sky rep being the Montana's AD definitely adds an extra layer to the drama that will unfold. Digging into all three teams schedules, I would say Montana State (w/ win against Idaho) would have a better resume than UND if both were at 7-4, since it's basically even outside of that. Let's go Griz!
  7. Incredible. I'm not sure on the strength of schedules of some of these leagues. Next week you have: McNeese (6-4) playing Lamar (6-4) Montana (6-4) playing Montana State (6-4) UWI (6-4) is playing Iowa State on 12/1 (make up game for Iowa State) Chattanooga plays South Carolina Assuming South Carolina beats Chattanooga, not sure what to make of UWI's schedule, but I'm counting them out. The other two I mentioned are loser out games. Dartmouth can't make the playoffs, San Diego is already in. Alcorn is #38, but not sure what kind of league they play in. UND looks to have a legitimate shot IF they win next week.
  8. UND was #39 #38 - Bye #37 - Montana State - W (6-4) #36 - Lamar - W (6-4) #35 - Florida A&M - L (6-4) #34 - Rhode Island - L (5-5) #33 - Sam Houston State - L (5-5) #32 - Chattanooga - L (6-4) #31 - UIW - W (6-4) #30 - Western Illinois - L (5-5) #29 - Monmouth - L (7-3) #28 - San Diego - W (8-3) *Auto-Bid* #27- Samford - L (5-5) #26- Central Arkansas - L (5-5) #25 - Dartmouth - W (8-1) *Ivy* #24- Idaho State - L (6-4) *One W D2* #23- Illinois State - L (5-5) #22- UNI (5-5) #21- Southeast Missouri State - L (7-3)
  9. Good call, the NCAA website should probably update that.
  10. Awful split, can't drop games to teams like Miami.
  11. What's the consensus, is that more important than the other polls or just another one? Obviously FCS doesn't use an RPI type system, but does the selection committee usually mirror that one?
  12. Are we looking at different polls? I see 26th STATS, tied 32nd coaches
  13. In what way? I'm not saying they aren't, but is your reasoning just because they are highly prized prospects? To the best of my knowledge neither strongly considered the major junior route originally. Halliday slipping to the 3rd round is a pretty good indication that at that point, he wanted to go the college route.
  14. My $.02, I'm with the majority that there needs to be changes at a minimum at Offensive & ST coordinators. My problem with this is Bubba is the man in charge and these changes should have happened years ago. If Bubba didn't see this or is too loyal, then he ultimately is to blame. Bubba and this coaching staff has made this program relevant and I believe this team is close to breaking through. They have talent and if you simply break down this year alone, they have 4 blow out wins against FCS programs and 4 close games (3 losses with a combined 11 points). This also isn't a Senior heavy team, there's tons of talent remaining on the roster. My question would be, is changes Offensive & ST coordinators enough to really put this team over the hump? I don't think it is. The great news is Chaves is an excellent AD, I have all the faith that he will make the right decisions to move this program forward.
  15. This is my thought as well, what are the big fears about the transition from DIII to D1? I'm honestly interested, to me if someone can coach, they can coach.
  16. Appears Kleven is starting for the U18’s today, great opportunity.
  17. I have no compassion for the defense after what happened tonight, stop them once and things would change. This was the worst defensive performance of the year against the (SEE NCAA STATS) 120th (?) offensive team in the country. To argue anything when looking at the body of work the opponent has is insane.
  18. I can compromise, won't agree that the offense was horrid (given WS defense), but can you land on 80/20 defense? I mean make a 3rd down stop once!
  19. Coming into the game wasn't Weber State's defense overall #4 in FCS and the offense was in the hundreds? To put what happened today on an even playing board is kind of ridiculous. Given the starting position overall the offense was ok. The defense given how Weber State has played over the first 7 games was embarrassing. Pretty simple. Good news is, this was truly the only game we've seen this out of the defense. When we are talking about a loss, there are a lot of positives to come out of this game.
  20. Can you at least admit that Weber State came into this game with one of the top defenses in college football and one of the worst offenses? If you can't look at the stats. Now take a step back and reevaluate.
  21. Come on, look at the opponents strengths / weaknesses. While you're at it, look at where the UND offense started the entire game.
  22. This should be the only take away from the game.
  23. Couple things in the big picture, before breaking it down, the final score is big. The playoff committee (pure guess) will look at records and score, I doubt many of them were actually watching this game (safe bet). The loss is tough, but the final score was 35-30 against the #4 team in the country. UND still controls their destiny. To the game itself, this game is 100% on the UND defense. Forget field position (which was bad), ST scored 14 points. The offense who didn't have decent field position the entire day held their own against a great Weber State defense. If you look at the Weber offense heading into the game (20% 3rd down, QB pulled twice for poor play), this is all on them. I can honestly say I've never been more surprised. This is all on the defense, they were pathetic as a group. A lot of this has to go on coaching. To go from 20% to over 50% on first downs is insane. I'm truly shocked by this. Importance of a football season is not to get too low, the reason they lost were on a unit we know is solid. This is an important learning lesson. Sucks that his was another truly big opportunity they failed at (again). Beat Idaho and everything this team has worked for is still in front of them. This isn't a bad team, just didn't perform today (defense ).
  24. USHL Pinto - '00 (F): 4-6-10 (8GP) Halliday - '02 (F): 1-4-5 (7GP) Frisch - '00 (D): 2-2-4 (7GP) Mancinelli - '01 (F): 1-2-3 (8GP) Randklev - '99 (F): 1-2-3 (8GP) Costello - 00' (F): 1-0-1 (7GP) Reid - 01' (D): 0-1-1 (7GP) Miller - 01' (D): 1-0-1 (6GP) Schmaltz - 01' (F): 0-0-0 (6GP) NTDP U18 Caulfield - 01' (F): 4-3-7 (9GP) Rowe - 01' (G): 4.58 GAA / .837 SV% NTDP U17 Sanderson -02' (D): 0-6-6 (9GP) Kleven -02' (D): 0-2-2 (7GP) AJHL Bast - 00' (D): 3-5-8 (9GP) BCHL Blaisdell - 01' (F): 10-9-19 (17GP) Stratton - 99' (F): 2-10-12 (14GP) Bowen -02' (F) 5-5-10 (17GP) Rizzo - 01' (F): Injured, sounds like it'll still be a couple weeks Still very early, that's why I haven't updated until this point. Besides Rizzo, who's a lock to come in next year, Blaisdell, Pinto and Caulfield have had really nice starts to their seasons and based strictly on that should be the next three coming in next year. Frisch has been receiving rave reviews in Green Bay and Bast seems to have picked off where he left off last season. Surprised by the slow starts from Mancinelli and Randklev. Bowen & Halliday seem to be acclimating well in their first years of juniors as '02s.
  25. UND hasn’t been winless through 4 games since 1994, that’s what’s on the line tomorrow. Berry is really doubling down after missing the tournament last year.
