  1. Good news for college hockey, but from a recruiting aspect, his brother being a Michigan recruit really took all the excitement out of it. With the new rules hopefully we'll see more hype around recruiting. The Jost / Fabbro type situations are always very fun to watch.
  2. Updated List: O'Conner (Dartmouth) Turcotte (Wisconsin) Miller (Wisconsin) Swayman (Maine) Mackey (Mankato) Rueschhoff (Western) Chaffee (UMass) Returning: Caulfield (Wisconsin), Newhook (BC), Ranta (Minn), Beecher (Mich), York (Mich)
  3. Last night on Twitter Youth Hockey Hub (YHH) tweeted about 7 area players they are hearing will be on next years NTDP. Spicer is one of them.
  4. Here's hoping for some good news this week on the UND front. Realizing the unprecedented times we are living in, I'm still kind of shocked of how little information has come out about which way UND guys are leaning. As I've written before, need the # to be 2 or less.
  5. I think it's important to note that he not only lead his team in scoring, but the entire league. Only one other person was really even close. https://www.eliteprospects.com/league/midget/stats/2019-2020
  6. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/5000890-Who-are-the-potential-early-NHL-signings-from-this-years-UND-team I say it every year, but there's such a fine line with early departures that effectively tips the scales one way or the other. Each potential early departure is so important to the roster construction. These are very general predictions in terms of what happens with #'s that leave. 0: Maybe not better record wise, but talent wise will be better than this years team. Would be truly dominant team. 1: On par with this years team 2: Fighting for Conference Championship (Low #1 Seed / # 2 Seed) 3: Look at Year after they won in 2016 -- #3 or #4 seed in NCAA's, Finish 3rd or 4th in Conference Over 3: Fall off a cliff I've been in the I think they'll lose one camp. I just hope there's not more than two.
  7. It'll be interesting to see if having their season cut short will have any impact on a guy who was on the fence. I think it will and more players will return than would have otherwise. My guess is we only lose one player early (either JBD or Kierstad).
  8. The original decision by the NCAA yesterday afternoon (no fans, only family, essential personnel), was clearly well thought out. What's frustrating is starting with the Jazz / Thunder game and everything that has happened since not NBA related has felt very knee jerk.
  9. Bowen did sign his NLI, but so did Rizzo the year previously. I do think it's a good sign of who is expected to come in at that point of time, but like with Rizzo, it's possible plans change. I would put my $ on Bowen going back for one more year of Juniors. At the time he signed his NLI, I think him being next year was virtually a lock. I feel awful for him, the injury he sustained started a downward spiral like I've never seen. Missed two months and from then on out didn't score at all. Clearly has a lot of skill from his overall body of work, but I'd like the plan of him going back and upping his production.
  10. Why didn’t Caulfield make the trip? I can’t get over how awful those Forward lines look. Grind this one out and regroup!
  11. After the celebration last weekend, you could see this coming from a mile away. Playoffs start tomorrow.
  12. Pathetic. Omaha is awful.
  13. He’s the worst.
  14. Of the three local 04's that committed before the rule went into effect, only Spicer gets the invite to the NTDP Camp. Shocked Ausmus didn't get an invite.
  15. I realize it's only projections, but I'm kind of speechless that this rationale is actually taking place. If Denver was #8, I'd have no problem. The only reason I have a huge problem is from a PWR standpoint, there's such a big difference between #6 and #7. It's hard to put into words how insane it would be to send UND to a place where they get (from a bracket integrity standpoint) screwed 2 spots with the #2 seed for that regional, who also happens to be the home team. The more I work myself up, the less likely I feel it'll happen. I mean no way. Now, just to be safe, I'm going to cheer for Denver to rise up to the #5 spot. They are the only team I really don't want UND to play after already beating them 4 times this year. Guess I still have nightmares from the 2003 (?) season where they beat Denver every time and then lost in the Regional final.
  16. No inside knowledge, but if you do a quick scan of who he (& his parents) follow on Twitter, UND is the only college team. I would say that's a good sign.

    Bubba extension

This isn't getting nearly enough traction. Did this just happen recently?
  18. I guess we'll see, but if things ended today, I would put my $ on UND not being sent to Allentown. There's no way that they would give UND a better #2 seed that also happens to be the host.
  19. Mitchell Miller named USHL Defenseman of the Week again, the 4th time in the past 6 weeks. Unreal.
  20. Definitely agree. Running Back: If things break correctly, this could be a really fun group. To me all eyes are on Weah. If he can remain eligible, this group could be very fun to watch. Mitchell being on campus is big too. The more I think about it, this group could be much better than last year. JJ is a big loss, but he was basically the only Senior that played. QB: Being the most important position by far on the field, it's strange how optimistic I am. Put me in the camp that thought Kett was above average last year, so I'd be surprised if this group was better than last year. I'm confident with three talented arms on campus that one will step up. Wide Receiver: These skill positions I'll always feel like you can have guys step in and get the job done. Between RB / WR you lose three key contributors and virtually no depth, a lot returning from those groups.
  21. Quick thoughts on some position groups before Spring Ball. Better than 2019 - Same reasoning for all four groups, they return so much. Offensive / Defensive Line Secondary Biggest Concern Linebacker (Both ILB/OLB) Most other groups QB / RB / WR / TE would probably trend a little closer to the "worse than" column than the "better than 2019" column, but right now it's really hard to say. I'm such a big believer in the lines playing such a crucial part that significant improvement (which I do expect), can go such a long ways.
  22. Not at all. Nope, still #1
  23. Side note, I just had to erase a pretty long post about the five minute major call, because I hadn't fully grasped that it didn't have to do with contact to the head. I don't know if I still fully comprehend what happened. Someone please help me. The officials reviewed the call, they determined at that time that it wasn't contact to the head, based on one of the two camera angles that was very definitive. So far so good. The major call for interference is unbelievably frustrating, no doubt, but I understand it. Completely different situations, but unfortunately the circumstances of what happens after a hit carry a lot of weight (i.e. Kawaguchi "penalty" earlier that game). Shame on him, but Poehling sold the hell out of it. I put less blame on the officials. What an ***hole Poehling is. I would love to be able to read the officials minds when they see him 100% right after he's taken down the tunnel, for what couldn't have been more than a minute. I know St. Clould fans don't care and Poehling cares even less what we think, but I would be embarrassed if this situation was reversed and a UND player pulled that. Edit: I'm going to somewhat walk this back. It's clear Poehling wasn't actually hurt, but do we think he was maybe a little shaken up right away? Not saying he didn't milk it, because I think he did, but let's say the first 10 seconds or so he was shaken up. I would be very interested to hear what SCSU fans think. You try your hardest to be unbiased, but I might be in this situation without really knowing it. @The Exiled One , thoughts on the play?
  24. Couple initial thoughts: Transfers and Other Exits: You have to be happy with the initial list, many who we already either knew or figured. Things will change from Spring Ball to Fall Ball, but so far so good. Beefed Up Lines: If accurate, this is very exciting. They are so far ahead of where I'd thought they'd be. In general, is it fair to say that they are around where you hoped they'd be come Fall? Or at least close enough where you won't need anything drastic between now and Fall? NG for example, you have 280 / 280 / 270 currently. Add 5 to 10 on each and you're really close. Encouraging article to read.
