Nick Foles taking Philly by Storm
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad replied to SIOUXFAN97's topic in Non-collegiate sports
With Foles getting it done, May be the Vikes can do a Herschel Walker type trade for Wentz in exchange for something like 5 players and 7 draft pics? Be a sure way to ruin Caron's career. -

Same here, Vikes were favorites and stunk up the place. Some kind of super natural power, jinx, curse, or whatever? Taught Karma might have changed the Vikes fate last Sunday, but back to the norm. -
Minnesota Vikings 2017 2018
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad replied to Fetch's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Since 1961, the Vikings drive to win a Super Bowl is a Mother Load: Remember their 4 Super Bowls, 5 NFC championship losses, numerous other playoff losses, and those last of the regular season game losses with the consequences of playoff elimination? Don't need to explain to their fans what a Minnesota Vikings' hangover is, and I'm sure the players of those games felt the pain. After saying that, the Vikings need a win today in Hak's town to give the Minneapolis Miracle more staying power, because then, that is a link in a chain of events to get them to the first Home Super Bowl. If Vikings can win today, then we can talk about how huge a Miracle it really is with another win on the same turf in Minneapolis. Skol Vikings! -
President Kennedy Comments on HPC Phase II
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Other Sports
Move forward with a fundraising drive for the original plan, if all funds are not attainable, then scale it. This complete package is a healthy finish for the Athletic Department & the U. Sounds like there is a little doubt in our supporting fan base or a reserved willingness of Pres. Kennedy to dive into the support of the whole plan (Phase II).- 205 replies

My bad, your right. Iowa is building the new arena. My son lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grandson plays hockey there. They have a fine arena. He claims "hockey is mostly popular with imigrants to the state, the locals do not have much time for it.

Iowa club hockey uses the rink in the shopping mall.

Hockey 1500th win within reach, pretty interesting stat.

Illinois St and Iowa St have ice arenas, so a donor could definitely make the difference in starting the Div I program. Being their athletic budgets are so large, even if subsidized, it may eventually have enough support within to start, even without the big donor. If Arz. St. and potentially UNLV, why not some U south of the Minns, Wiscos, & Michs?

The experience of going to the FB game well exceeds the show on TV. The cost of tickets is reasonable, and there are only a hand full of games a season at the Hawks Nest, plus the potential to get same seats for playoffs. Can also look at this as a donation to UND sports, supporting the FB team, and be in position in the future when tickets may be hard to come by. FB will be much more interesting to a larger pool of fans starting in 2020.

Softer ticket resale market?
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad replied to streetsahead's topic in Men's Hockey
For various reasons have not gone to too many home games this season and cold weather was the excuse one weekend. Have tried to sell 6 tickets most nights so far, only weekend did well was MN series. Didn't get close to face value on the rest, where other years usually got face value (I don't add in the Champs Club part). Probably going to attend the rest. Have no stats to back this up, but also seems to me there's been a lot more tickets for resale this season. -

You make a sensible comment here, instead of some Banter answer back. My hats off to you.

With Payton's (F-bombs, Skol mimicking) antics, the "Curse" may have flew back with him to New Orleans. 4 lead changes in last 3:01, that 61 yd play was so huge (a play the Vikes practiced, and where Williams misses the tackle and takes out his teammate), clock runs out just as Diggs crosses the goal line with a first NFL playoff WALK OFF TOUCHDOWN, the Minneapolis Miracle. One of greatest multiple lead changing finishes in the playoffs! Maybe the brown paper bags return on the heads of NO fans at home games. -

This is a good start, there's potential here for a great athletic department. -
