  1. We should probably do NDSU, if we don't the entire senior class at NDSU will miss out on the fun.
  2. I am pretty sure it is required that we find the Chaz Bono on every team.
  3. I am in the camp of not giving RT much credit. Unless you are crediting him with the fact we stopped playing NDSU in football. Lennon seemed to change his philosophy when he took the job at SIU and it really didn't work out well for him. He was winning close games at UND and losing the same type of games at SIU.
  4. So you still can't read, all I said was we need at least a few more weeks not years because this season is far from over. It isn't like last year which was a lost cause early on. If the staff and players can clean up the play they can still be a very good team and have a good year. We will see what happens over the next few games.
  5. How did you quote that and come up with me giving Bubba a pass for 10 or 11 years. You might want to go back and try it again.
  6. Nic Vinson A Happy Carrot
  7. That is more related to NDSU handing off the football team from Bohl to Klieman. That ship was already going the right direction and almost to it's destination. The UND football program would need someone to change the direction of the ship.
  8. They are taking a step backward this season, zero offense.
  9. Yes, I was just giving one example but MN isn't an easy football job either. Better than Wyoming but still a very tough place to win consistently. Some places are easier to recruit and easier to create a winner and that is why some FBS coaches leave what appears to be a good situation for another job.
  10. I don't think you are referring to Rocky but he had success at NDSU but after he got canned couldn't win other places.
  11. No, but we aren't Nebraska football and don't have comparable football history. It is a problem with society today, everyone wants to win now and it doesn't usually happen that way. I think Frost is a good coach and hope they give him at least 3 or 4 years to prove it. I think talk of firing coaches at this stage of the season is an overreaction. If UND plays poorly and loses a couple more games in the next 3 to 4 weeks you start talking about changes and I would hope that if the choose to let people go they take a hard look at the entire staff and not just one or two guys.
  12. I don't know if Landry would be good or not but I would hope if they start looking for a new coordinator they would not give former UND guys preference. Eastern Washington always has a really good offense both passing and running the ball. Maybe our AD has some connections and could find a talented young coach that worked under Baldwin to be the OC.
  13. The fire coaches contingent around UND is never far away.
  14. It is difficult for a DE in this system to put up numbers like this and he in noticeable on almost every play. He is playing really well right now and fun to watch.
  15. It was that way before 2001 for some as well. I haven't attended a game in long time because I live across the country but I recall back in the mid to late 90's a certain group of female UND athletes that would dress up and parade around the old ralph. I doubt they watched a puck drop. Even they show up for hockey when things aren't going well, but if things are as people claim on this message board people will drop football at the first sign of something they don't like.
  16. I would like to you to answer a question for me. Let's pretend UND and NDSU both finished the last five football seasons with 500 records and they go up against each other for a football recruit. If the athlete views academics, coaching, and facilities as equal. Other individual factors are always part of the equation but lets pretend those are not in play here. Who gets the athlete most of the time?
  17. Sure, everyone follows a winner but some programs get support from fans even when having a down year. The football team loses a game and now most or all support is going away from the community. Those people aren't really fans in the first place, it is just a social event to attend.
  18. I was at UND before the new Ralph and guess what, even thought the football team was winning football didn't get half the support hockey was getting from the students and the community. Hockey wins in GF because it is a hockey first town from youth sports on up. Your point 2 actually sort proves what I am saying. I struggle to understand a lot of the UND fanbase, but this applies to hockey in particular. Hakstol was a great coach at UND but people wanted him fired immediately after the team would lose in the frozen four. It is great to want to win all the time but people at times do not have reasonable expectation of the coaches and athletes. I feel we often demean the other team and players because we don't give them credit but instead place blame on our teams. It is a competition and sometimes you are going to lose, even the mighty NDSU football program usually drops one game a year and sometimes it is to a team that is supposed to get run off the field. The goal should be for UND football to win a national title, but how many years of football happened before UND won it's first title? The team is in a better place now than it was when Bubba was hired but this team isn't a National Championship team right now. Unless we see crazy improvement at a handful of position and that type of development doesn't usually happen quickly.
  19. Facts are facts and this isn't an argument to drop football down to D2, UND and the community doesn't support football or any other sport like it does hockey and that is the truth. I am not saying it's right or wrong but it is the truth. I lived it and know exactly how it was in the situation, and we had a strong program at the time I was playing. Grand Forks is a hockey town first and that isn't a bad thing but you can't expect football recruits to fall all over themselves to play at UND when the school to the south is dominating and is a football town first. It is a minor obstacle for the football program but certainly not something they cannot or will not overcome.
