  7. A big reason EWU is so high is because they played both NDSU and UNI. I can't figure out how Montana is ranked considering the record and the only quality win doesn't seem so quality at this point.

    2016 Season

I can see a lot of different things happening in this situation but I hope they don't just boot the kid. He came here as a walk on and maybe he needs to return to non scholarship status next season and earn his way back on the team after a suspension. I am all for harsh punishments and he clearly made a couple of very bad choices while under the influence of alcohol. If this is the first time he has been in trouble he certainly deserves a chance to make amends and earn back the trust of his teammates.
  9. In the second half of the game I was really hoping they would just send the kickoff out of bounds because the coverage was so bad. It is hard to see on TV but on one of the kickoffs it looked like our cover guy was grabbed and thrown to the ground. If Weber was doing this on all returns and nothing was called I can see why UND had some trouble covering. Of coarse that doesn't excuse the crapping tackling of the kick coverage team.
  10. OK, but when they did attempt to throw in the first half Either guys couldn't get open or Studs couldn't find them because he hung on to the ball to long. pretty hard to call any passes when it isn't working. Something I noticed during the game was how quick Weber was to pursue the run plays and at least a few times that left a big cut back lane that the UND backs aren't taking or aren't seeing. Bartels shouldn't be running the ball but he would have gotten the first on the boot leg if the blocking would been decent. The backside defender was barely touched and the blocker had position on him.
  11. Seems like the UND offense lost all confidence in the run game when they didn't convert on fourth down. Studs is hanging on to the ball to long right now and WR's can't seem to get any separation. The QB for Weber has done a good job of keeping plays alive just long enough to make a positive play. It's tough to watch the pass rush because they almost get the QB and get side stepped or just miss the angle and don't get the sack.
  12. I was trying to think of a good way to mash up Lesnar and Gary (Anthony Michael Hall) from Weird Science. I think the pig guy is a little closer though.

  14. I just watched the play a couple of times and it really is just a hard play with him making a block. He isn't looking so couldn't know the ball carrier was down. If I am coaching I expect all my players to work through the whistle like that. The problem comes after with the chest pounding. He isn't one of the starters so he may have just been a little over hyped and I would like to think the SUU coaching staff will handle it appropriately. I guess we will see if things like this become the norm. at SUU.
  15. I understand pretty well what is happening but he needs to dial it back some as the season goes on. He looks to bounce almost every play right now and it is something that can only be done occasionally. You can't change what defenses do to stop you so just fix what can be fixed. Sometimes when I watch I wonder if he is being told to break a lot of the plays wide just to stretch the defense and help open up the inside running game.
  16. I love that Chaz Bono ends up in every look a like thread!
  17. I agree, and part of the success the offense is having is because the last several games is that the ball is being spread around. The defense has to stop a lot of different players and not just focus on a couple guys.
  18. Maybe if he went back to following his blocking. He is a great talent but he hasn't been nearly as good this year and it isn't all the Oline.
  19. I guess I don't really agree about opening up the playbook, he did a few things differently but the big difference was in the offensive execution of the play calls. Much better and more consistent specifically in the passing accuracy most of the game and I don't think we had more then one or maybe two dropped passes. Studs only had 22 or 23 attempts which isn't much different from previous games but his completion percentage was dramatically better.
  20. I think the block below the waist call on UND was a bad one. The guard pulled around the center and turned up and cut the guy. This is legal along the LOS and inside the tackles and it was both of those. The holding call on the center would have been OK if they had been calling that the entire game but they hadn't and Montana State was doing as much or worse on most of it's pass attempts. The poor officiating is expected but at least be consistent with the bad calls.
  21. He was one of three guys that made the play but Newell gets in if the others hadn't hit him first. The guy is strong and very good and not letting defenders get a solid shot on him.
  22. Yet the rushing numbers on the season aren't bad, but the completion percentage of 50 or less in pretty much all quarters but the 4th of each of the games makes more sense to rely upon. I do think the offense needs to expand with more play action and bootlegs but the problems are with execution more then anything at this point. The main reason Brady had a better game than John yesterday IMO is that one back for all but one play followed the blocking scheme and the other kept trying to bounce everything to the outside. Brady is a tough runner and a good back although Santiago is much more explosive. The blockers can't guess when a back will improvise, so when a back bounces a play they basically have to make it happen themselves. The UND offense isn't very well suited to handle 2nd and long or 3rd and long situations. So on 1st and 10 it would be better to stay with the blocking scheme most of the time and get 1 to 5 yards depending upon how well it's blocked. 2nd and 7 or 8 is a lot better situation for this offense then 2nd and 14 or 15.
