I would agree that but the starters were still in lineup for most of if not all of the 3rd qtr for sure. Its a moot point however as they have won pretty comfortably every win. Just a small gripe of mine at this point. Also. The D is back!!! Nice to see und being able subdue a team. That to me is the most impressive change this year. Impressive.

Fantastic win! Eric already has more road victories than bubba did total the last two years Imo und is currently the best team in the MVFC. Ndsu and sdsu haven’t impressed against the lower tier teams they have played. My words will be tested when November rolls around. Realistically und should be undefeated. The two losses were last second losses on the road to a ranked fbs team and top 3 FCS team. Und literally gave away the two games. They were clearly the better team in both I have one gripe. Und has led comfortably every game (7 games) so far at the half. Outscoring the opposition 167-37. The second half in every game has been disappointing though. 5 games they have been outscored. Only N Iowa and valpo have they outscored. Need a full game ! Need to keep the foot on the neck and go for the kill . Need to keep the intensity a full game! Could come back and bite them against a quality opponent. kaminski is as important of a player as there is in the fcs. He is truly one guy that CANNOT go down for und. Absolute stud.

Und might have some issues with their qb. But mind is at home and is the better team. 38-28 good guys

Let it go ! Wtf!? The dude isn’t the starter anymore. Hell of an athlete and from everything I have heard he is a great teammate. Think most everyone agrees / knows he shouldn’t have been the starter last year. At minimum …the coaching staff should have had given some backups playing time but it didn’t happen. That’s not on him. ND kid that’s plays with heart and is a great teammate that has above athleticism …..he belongs on the team. Just drop the Simon hate! Very old and boring Go Sioux !!

I wasn’t a fan of hiring another UND associate to be head coach. Mentioned that last year before and after his hire. But I have to give him the benefit of the doubt and roll with it. It’s an upgrade from bubba but how much ? 3 games in and two losses are directly on him. Not a great start After the K st game, even with the bad 4th qtr coaching calls, it seemed as tho things had changed. Felt different. Doesn’t feel that way anymore. Feels like every year since 09. If UND was definitely the better team yesterday why didn’t they win ? Coaching! The two losses fall solely on the coaching staff. Und WAS the better team in both losses. But they keep losing in a multiple head scratching ways on the road. unfortunately… it feels like the losing culture is in place . Im very frustrated yet excited. Love football and love und. I just want to see a competent coaching staff execute a complete game . Without a doubt und should be 3-0.

Just saw the score as I was unable to watch or listen. Looks like nothing has changed for und on the road. Always finding a weird or difficult way to lose. I had initially thought it felt different after the K st loss. I don’t feel that way anymore. Feels like the last decade + Hoping for the best the rest of the season

I agree. Hoping Schmidt can get some guys for next season. Portland st had 330 total yards in the first two games. 205 total so far and their first points in GF.

Man is Portland st an absolute mess ! Might be the worse D1 team in a long time . Feel bad for them actually. When they run out in the field the eye test says we’re playing Central . No way they win a game this year.

Mixed emotion's for me. On one hand it was most definitely a game und should have won. On the other hand und was suppose to get blown out of the water. Hate moral victories as much as the next person but bubba would have had no chance in this game. Eric needs to clean up a few things but there’s just a different feel now. Swagger. Football toughness. Aggressive. You could see players put it on the line for this coaching staff. Bubbas teams folded by way of his o gosh I golly attitude. I look at three specifics last night: -Und easily should have had 4 INTs. would have been fine with 2 of them. Need to clean that up -the last offensive drive. You need to be a risk taker when you’re playing a very good team. Settling for gut runs to the clock (which in return burned very little time ) was giving the game away . Wasn’t working all game. Why waste the opportunity here!? Jerry should have been given the keys for an rpo on all the plays. They only needed ONE first down to ice it ! Damn ! -the last defensive drive . So frustrating!!! For the life of me I will never understand why coaches go to prevent D!??? Never works on any level. Their qb had all day to read his routes with those talented receivers. Stick with what was working . They are an explosive team and und pulls off of being the aggressor. Their qb absolutely loved it . Lost opportunity . Time to focus on Portland st . Put an absolute ass kicking on them and come out injury free. Montana game will be the game where I feel we can gauge this team.

Agreed. There is nothing exciting for me on this hire. Hope he succeeds but I see no culture change. Eric brings toughness and intenseness thats needed in the football world…..but eh. Such a typical und hire. Blah. Eric will be reunited to the constant Joel, Shawn, Travis and Carl. Will he retain any of the coaches (buddies) that have high contributions to a yearly average 6.0 W -5.1 L team? 54%. This program needs a complete overhaul. Time to start with a blank canvas.

Mentioned before but he is the one that I wouldn’t mind if und “has” to hire a und connection. Extremely smart guy. Football demeanor. But again….wish und would step away from the connection. There are plenty of legit coordinators or lower level head coaches that this would be an upgrade for.

Won’t take the card away but having a familiar gobc back in the club is renewing the same imo. Outside influence will have a different view or take. IMO. Try something new from an outside source as und D1 days have been very underwhelming.

One more added point. If Eric is hired…half of the coaches are still here from when he left. Will he retain all of them ? They are part of the gobc.

Bubbas still here and present. Not HC anymore but accessible around every corner. Back to the same bar, same acquaintances, same talk, same time for the gobc connection. Und needs new blood !!! Any und tie, regardless of time away will be like they were never gone since bubbas still roaming.

Any und tie hire brings me the least amount of excitement. Wish them the best but it comes across as another easy/lazy hire for und. I don’t see much change. Same schemes, same culture…etc. Add to it …bubba is still around. Gobc still intact. His influence with an old coordinator remains solid.

I have looked into his career and bio. Looked at results. Watched how he conducted himself and interacted with players and media. This dude is a winner! When looking over the potential candidates he was #1 for me. Posted couple days ago he is my #1 choice. He has two decades of results. 82% win percentage. Winners win regardless of level …aka DeBoer If he truly is a candidate and is interested in the job …und needs to do whatever they can to get this guy. 6 time national coach. Being coach of the year 6 times means you’re doing something right. Being coach of the year 6 times means you’re not satisfied with a 6-6 or 7-5. Being a 6 time coach of the year is exactly what und needs

After sifting through some of the possibilities for the next coach ….really like Caruso. Has proven track record as head coach. At 50 …he knows how to relate to players yet experienced enough for in game decision making. If he can turn und into a fcs power he still has time to move onto something better or simply ride it out to retirement if he chooses. Plus I like the idea he and Freuchte have a relationship. Keep the OC here. Keeps some familiarity with the players that has very little bubba influence. Its a win win imo 163-46 (78%) overall. Played in two championship games (That era in D3 was owned by Mount union and Wisconsin whitewater). Has 6 national coach of the year awards. He’s a winner ! He turned st Thomas around in his first year. They were 2-8 the year before he got there. His first year 7-3. yearly record at st Thomas 7-3 11-2 12-1 13–1 14-1 8-3 14-1 12-1 11-2 8-2 8-2 7-3 (moved to D1) 10-1 8-3 6-6 157-34 82% From the cities area. Huge recruiting area for und so having the ties to that area are a huge advantage. Can’t say he a defensive minded guy but had Brandon Staley as a D line coach who is the assistant head coach for SF 49ers. Ex head coach for the chargers.
