Looks like Tech has some athletes. Big rb 225 lbs and a few smaller twichy WRs. Qb looks good. On D they have an absolute beast of man in the middle. 305 lbs and is very athletic. 9 sacks I believe. Little bit I watched he was moving OL like Reggie white back in the day. He will need to be double teamed. If the und team that was 6-2 shows up… very confident the travel home with the victory. If the 1-3 team shows up …seasons a wrap

Anyone notice when und has had a lead …how they never come close to using up the play clock. Again ….its the offensive side. Burn that clock!! Snapping a ball with let’s say 28 seconds left on the play clock when the game clock is running and if you’re up 21-7 ish in the 3rd doesn’t make any sense. That has bugged me every game this year. Isaac please fix this.

They look tough. They also played an extremely weak schedule….but they did what they had to do and absolutely destroyed (40-17 ave margin)all the competition. Having played the schedule und had this year and tech not playing anyone close to a und caliber team I expect und to come out swinging and leading at the half. Tech will settle at half, collect themselves and have a second half burst. If unds offense it moving the ball they win. If unds offense is like the last months offense they will lose. It’s imperative that unds offense comes alive. It’s playoff time. Now or never.

I will add ….if the committee looks at all important close loss criteria und should be in. The games that they haven’t been able to win is unds best resume to get in.

New Hampshire 8-3 FCS 6-2 CAA lost to two seeded teams and a 7-3 team Beat Monmouth five game winning streak Lamar 8-3 FCS 5-3 south land lost to mcneese, UIW and SFA beat South Dakota and SELA New Hampshire is a lock imo Lamar has a better combo of wins and 8 wins to 7 for und

I agree. The opposing coaches had enough tape this late in the season on the new regime to dissect and interrupt. Und coaches didn’t change ….at all! That’s the way it’s been since und has moved up to D1. Opposing coaches catch on …und coaches don’t I also agree on your first post that the talent is here already. The FCS is such a joke that the talent und has currently…they are capable of being one of the last four teams standing. On the offensive side I don’t think the OL was anything special but in the fcs they are average enough to make a difference. With an offensive roster that consists of kaminski, sawyer, Deng, Fleming, Z, Langama,Tai ….etc …that is more than enough talent at the FCS level. With the D that und had this year ….there is no reason they couldn’t make a run in the fcs. It’s all on the coaches. The regression on the offensive side…it’s all on.the OC ! He is not capable of change when opposing teams sniffed out his four plays. i believe Schmidt is much much better than bubba but I will need to see results first before I can confidently say that. A 7-5 season combined with another late season drop doesn’t feel me with any confidence Or I could be mr positive and say they will make the bracket today and should win their way to the semis or Championship in the watered down fcs. If that happens ….great! The fcs is the Dakotas and Montanas. That’s it! Und is 0-4 this year vs that group. The champion has come from this region and will continue to come from this region as the “stronger” teams keep moving up. The last five years the championship game has been an all Dakota / Montana game. When will it be unds turn?

Holy f&$? I am so sick and tired of the “we only lost by a little” BS !! UND LOST!!! The committee sees wins and loses!! That’s FIVE loses !!!! Und doesn’t deserve to be in the playoffs. They can hang their hat on a Youngstown and to a certain degree the SIU win. SIU won’t get in like und. Only five from the valley move on Jerry has been one of the worst qbs in the FCS the last four weeks. 3 tds 8 INTs. He locks in on one receiver and absolute throttles it in. There is no reason that the majority of his passes need to be traveling 100 mph. Many here have bragged up the OL. Not me. Think they average at best. They have have major trouble protecting Jerry and opeining lanes. Todays game !! The drive to end the half ….sdsu rushed only THREE!! Three guys and they were at Jerry every time. Three guys annihilated Unds OL. Sawyer has made them look better in alot of games then what they’re really are. I’m sorry but the OL has been fairly weak this year imo

The committee won’t take 6 from the valley. Have to think the season is over. Und is not playoff worthy anyways. Way ton many flaws. If they are to make it in the bracket…..it would be a waste of time as they would lose by a couple points. Their offense has gone from above average to one of the bottom feeders in the fcs. Jerry has been brutal aging with the play calling. Und has lost two consecutive home games. Not good. This sdsu team lost at home to Indiana st two weeks ago as well as snapping their 4 game losing streak in the alerus. I mentioned couple weeks ago they are not a top 25 team and they proved it today

Agreed. Just can’t see the committee taking 6 teams. As it stands sdsu and und have very similar resumes. I would say sdsu is slightly better. They have the (current) best fcs win in beating Montana st. Plus they beat sac st ,Drake and Youngstown. Thats four teams that should be in the playoffs. Und has Youngstown. SDSU lost to Ndsu, SD, ill st and Indiana st (ouch!!). Und lost to Montana, ndsu, sd and Kansas st. I know people are infatuated with that und “only “ lost by itsy bitsy little bit. They lost! The only thing that matters is W-l. Not how little you win or lose by. The Indiana st loss for sdsu is bad !! That equals out the Montana st game imo but, when healthy, they have beaten three other teams that have playoff potential. Tomorrow’s game is the 5th and deciding team for the Mvfc. Go sioux!

Of course it’s hypothetical. I’m asking at what point in his logic does losing close games start to be irrelevant ? No team should ever be proud of losing close games. Sorry! I might in the minority but losing is losing. Period Like I mentioned. The FCS is so weak the committee has to pick 24 teams. Plenty of average or below average. Also I expect the Sioux to win but if they don’t … well then they don’t belong.

You schedule games to win regardless of how tough they are. The reward to playing tough games is proving you belong and winning. At what point in your logic is a team not qualified? Say an fbs team was 6-6 and lost all six by five or less to all top 10 teams. Close in score but definitely not boat raced. Should they be qualified for the fbs playoff bracket ? Would that be rewarding? it’s simple. You need to win

On the flip side. As of right now UND has only one victory against a potential playoff bound team…Youngstown. SIU is an ok win but they most likely end 6-6. The other five victories have a combined opponent record of 9-46. Overall UND has five extremely weak wins, one average win and one decent win. Not sure losing close games to quality opponents should be a qualifier to get a team into playoffs imo. Winning those games is. UNDs resume overall is average like many other teams I agree with a few others here ….the winner of this saturdays game is in and the loser stays home. I can’t see the committee taking more than 5 MVFC team. Ndsu, SD, Illinois st , Youngstown and either und or sdsu. Considering how ridiculously weak the fcs is …the committee will have to dig deep and scrape together 24 teams. The committee might use the “how good are you at losing your games” as criteria? I don’t think anyone can argue that UND wins at the “best loses” 😳…..so there’s that UND needs to clean up two phases of their game starting now!! If they can’t they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs. If they can …they could make a run. An absolute must win Saturday imo. A much improved Und team should be victor

Football is a team sport and consists of three phases. Offense, defense and special teams Unds defense has been lights out this year. One of the best in the FCS. They haven’t given up a single 20 point game in the MVFC games and haven’t allowed a 400 yard game in conference play including four straight games of under 300 yards ( 221, 270, 268, 252). That’s impressive in the way the game is played nowadays. Fantastic turnaround from years past. Although Injuries are adding they have been a very composed, focused and hungry unit. Hats off to the D. UNDs offense on the other hand is in disarray. OC doesn’t seem capable of running a D1 offense and Jerry has been below average the last 3 games. Sawyer is about the only offensive player capable of making plays. Hard to win games and score points when you rely on one guy and he is not the qb. The first 8 games of the year when the offense was playing decent UND outscored its opponents 191-40 (24.9-5.0) in the first half. The last 3 games ….21-31 ( 7.0- 10.3 ) 7 points at the half of all three games. Absolutely horrible ! It’s a team sport and the offense isn’t getting it done. Looking at the four losses the offense had a chance to win it in the end but failed. They played decent in the first 3 qtrs and failed in the 4th. They have the talent on the offensive side to be much better than what they’re showing. Can it be corrected ? I guess UND is where a kicker goes to become an untrusted kicker. Most of their recruits had really good accolades. That puts Schmidt in a bad spot in close/ competitive games. Doesn’t trust his kicker and now can’t trust his offense. Flip a coin and roll with it I guess. Both options make me nervous……couldn’t imagine being the HC for those calls. Their D can carry this team only so far . At some point the offense and special teams has to step up and become D1 level. It’s a team effort and currently it’s one sided. If UND makes the playoffs the offense is going to have to make a significant jump in production for und move on to the next rounds or it could be an early exit once again.

UNDs defense has been lights out this year! Haven’t given up 20 points in a single game in the Mvfc and only two all year…..Montana and K st. A ton of seniors on that side. Major upgrade from the last 10 years Offense has had small moments vs the decent defensive teams but the play calling is atrocious. Even when they beat up on the junk teams there were a lot of head scratching calls. Add to that….Jerry and the offense have been brutal in final drive moments. Everyone holds their breathe with anything special teams They are 6-4 with a shot at 8-4. At 8-4 they are in the playoffs. Lose to sdsu ….no playoffs imo at 7-5. Dependent on how other teams finish the last weeks of course. Seeding is long gone … as is a first round bye. If this years Ndsu team is the pinnacle team it just shows how weak the fcs is and yet und is 6-4 😡😡 I could give a rats ass how close und has come to winning the four losses and being undefeated. They didn’t win and are 6-4. Why would this change if they are to make the playoffs ? What would they do differently to win the close games vs “better “ competition? Because they have failed in four games so far this year. That will change if they were to make the playoffs ?? Highly highly unlikely The trajectory of the program is on the upside. With a few coaching changes maybe next year they can take the next step

Ndsu is very beatable. Youngstown lost to them by 8 last week (had many chances ) and und by 5 this week. Indiana st was controlling the 1st half of their game three weeks ago until a two hour delay. Ndsu controlled after that. Thought their qb looked better in highlights. He’s not that impressive. His running skills are more pronounced because of his size/speed. Decent moves but he simply is bigger than most defensive guys at this level. His qb skills tho?? He locks in on #1 and just gives a hurl the direction of the wr in hopes he completes it. Think he would make a better rb. They really don’t have any decent rb it looks like. Decent OL. Their D played fairly well. But unds Offense had a lot to do with that. If they didn’t have home field advantage through out the playoffs I could see them losing out in the quarterfinals. But they have home field. I can’t pinpoint one thing that is truly dominant about Ndsu . Not impressed

UNDs 6 victories this year 1-9 Portland st 1-9 valpo 3-7 N Iowa 6-4 SIU 6-4 Youngstown st 3-7 Indiana st 20-40 (.500)combined record. As of right now …und has two decent wins. The other four wins come against 8-32 (.250) combined record teams The resume just isn’t there. Two decent wins (so far) against four losses is not considered a top 25 team imo

Possibly. But UND hasn’t shown the ability to win the big games. They have two wins over .500 clubs. The rest of their wins are not impressive in measure. With a combination of bad offensive play calling all year, bad special teams play and the way Jerry has failed in the potential game winning drives spells not a top 25 team. The red zone offense has been bad as they rank 75 out of 124 teams. Can’t trust a kicker. Kickoff and kickoff return groups are shaky. 2-3 record on road trips is not top 25 material . Now Jerry has thrown 5 INTs in the last two games. Too many offsets to be considered a top 25 team. The defense is playing like a top 25 team …that’s about it.

I know a lot. Four loss teams are not deserving of top 25 status. As bad as the fcs is no way a four loss team should make the playoffs . What makes you think they are deserving ?? How close they lose ? Winning is what matters and und can’t win the big games.
