  1. Can't smash any holes... It seems to me that Fullerton has been given a directive to "fix this". And I don't mean "this" as in the nickname issue, I mean "this" as the UND being a geographically outlying newly admitted member of the conference. Everything changed the day USD went the other way. Even though UND & USD weren't perfect travel partners (are travel partners even used in the Big Sky), adding them was palatable, as a pair. This nickname debacle is cover for getting rid of UND, imo. I hope Mr. Faison is working hard behind the scenes with other conference opportunities, as I don't expect the UND _________ to be participating in the Big Sky, regardless of the outcome of the referendum results. It seems with every interview that Fullerton does that the horse is already out of the barn. As for the referendum, calling the people on the other side of the issue clueless is NOT going to help in convincing them that voting for it is wrong for the University. Insulting people because they don't understand the consequences is not going to work. It will only fire them up even more. We as a UND community need to rally together and lay out the situation in a manner that people can understand. My $.02.
  2. Beings the membership at siouxsports.com is a small microcosm of the UND community, its going to take more than rants on this forum for the referendum to be defeated. There are a number of people that support UND wholeheartedly that signed the petitions. It's not so simple as to suggest that they are "hockey only" fans, or that they are NDSU fans that are out to get UND. In their minds they are doing what is right. There are a number of people that didn't sign the petition that will vote the same as these people. I hope getting all snarky and labeling those that signed the petition and those that support the Sioux name as being "less smart" isn't the prevailing method of getting out the information on the expected consequences. What's next?
  3. Don't you mean pre-Madonna?
  4. That includes a number of people on both sides of the issue.
  5. At least he's predictable.Listen for the snarky anti-UND comments and you'll have the right time in the show.
  6. I'm sure he's busy clearing his schedule to be on McFooly's show tomorrow.
  7. Yeah, because we all know Rick Berg will win with only "North Dakota" money.
  8. I think that it's more than just MN fans. Many UND fans are expecting that as well. It seems the NCHC has been sort of disfunctional since the beginning. I hope Mr. Faison and friends have this figured out.
  9. Just booked the flight, motel, and rental car. Now we need tickets!!! Can't think of anything better than turning 40 at a Sioux hockey game in Denver!

  11. I sure didn't know about any back problems, either, and didn't meant to imply that he did. Just stating why another school (as well as the University of Iowa ) supposedly backed off of recruiting him. Here's their spin my source.
  12. No, you don't get it. NDSU has NEVER lost a recruit to UND that they wanted. Never. Even Mollberg they apparently weren't recruiting for QB because of their vast depth at the position and in the end backed off because of his problems with back injuries.
  13. Are there any tickets to be had for this series in Denver? Season ticket holders sell out in front of arena??
  14. Think they have said the standard is 10 to 12 years.
  15. Could you please do all of us a favor and take this petty, juvenile crap to pm?
  16. I think UNO played some early games in Iowa, if I remember correctly. Should qualify that with I may be wrong, though.
  17. MM has likely already lined up Doug Fullerton to get his take on things. Probably will also ask him if UND's membership in the Big Sky could be in jeopardy because of these developments.
  18. Hockey is not like basketball where starters are the best players and play 35+ minutes of a 40 minute game. Its not the same thing. Hockey is about match ups with the opposing teams' lineup. It's funny to me to hear hockey parents bragging and seeing them puff out their chests because their kid was a "starter" at last night's high school game.
  19. Criteria #1 when evaluating the recruits of a non-rival.
  20. Except that you have no idea, unless you are part of the coaching staff, what the details were in this situation. Nor do I.
  21. Wasn't College Hockey Inc. going to take care of this crap? How many kids have de-committed since that entity was created?
  22. http://www.google.com/news/url?sa=t&ct3=MAA4AEgEUABgAWoCdXN6AXPYAQE&usg=AFQjCNFDoYrBvKkmhs8MmE8JXFO8sWgwAQ&rt=SECTION&url=http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/nhl/jackets/story/2012-01-09/blue-jackets-fire-coach-scott-arniel/52465550/1 Brad Berry passed over? Maybe that wasn't a consideration.
  23. It is quite presumptuous to think we fans have all the details in this. Damage to any credibility might be supposed if the now former recruit was bad-mouthing the Sioux coaching staff for going back on their word. That just doesn't appear to be the case.
  24. Did Jones really say it came down to the players' decision if they redshirt or not? Is that typical of how it usually works?
