University of North Dakota Hockey 2014-15 season
The Sicatoka replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
OK, I'm cooled down (a bit) after that debacle on Friday night but the only reason is that they actually showed up and played, for most of a game, on Saturday. Maybe, just maybe, Friday was the wake-up call they needed before they ended up 4-7-1 and having to play every game like it was game 7. I'm interested in seeing which team goes to CC: Friday's or Saturday's. -
Some new news about the NDSCS's student case: The ND Attorney General is launching a review of the drug task force that made Mr. Sadek an informant. http://www.inforum.com/content/nd-attorney-general-seeks-independent-review-drug-task-force-accused-bullying-ndscs-student

Bison in jail. Homecoming. It just seems like a natural fit.

That's a bit oversimplified; but, when I think of simple I do think of you.

I have to admit I noticed too many empty student seats last year. If they aren't filling them, why not sell the seats as GA seating? However, the minute I see a completely, consistently full student section and the students want more seats, yes, definitely. It's a delicate balance. What I'm more fearful is that in general (and it's seen nationally, see Michigan State FB for example) that students just aren't showing up like they used to. Is it demographics, specifically diversity? A more diverse student population may not have grown up with football (for example) and may not go. Is it demographics, specifically a more "student older than average" base? I thought I read somewhere that the general student population is getting slightly older (with more outside responsibilities). Is it generational? For this generation 3 hours of anything is an eternity. And especially when the focus is not on them. It's stereotypical but this recent AT&T commercial seems to sum part of it up well: " ... my new selfie got 100 likes, ... 100!" Ask the average college student today if they'd rather have that or be at a game and see Braden Hanson throw for 660 or see Jason Ulmer throw up a 3G-3A-6Pts line in a game.

It's not "talk like a pirate day."

Gas has traditionally been cheaper east of I-29 and more expensive west of I-29 in this region. Bismarck is usually a dime to twenty cents more than FM. GF is normally about a nickel to a dime more than FM. And east toward Bemidji from FM it drops at least a dime. You may see something new, but that's the pattern I've seen for probably 20 years.

Noticed in the game program from the hockey exhibition that: "Tacks are back!" and "CCM is the official skate of North Dakota Hockey" Did a little looking: CCM (maker of Tacks) is owned by Reebok and Reebok is owned by Adidas.

From what I've read, the guy with a good chance is redshirting right now.

Summit League could take over NCHC to survive?

DU's lax and skiing programs are solid, and they're putting money into MBB. -
Summit League could take over NCHC to survive?

Allowing DU would have had the advantage of allowing conference meeting minutes to be private (and not requestable under FOIA) as not all organization members would be public institutions. That's another dropping of the ball. Conference - private school Pac12 - Stanford, USC Big Ten - Northwestern SEC - Vanderbilt Big 12 - TCU They all do it. -
NDSU to move to FBS with an invite from the Sun Belch?
The Sicatoka replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
I thought the buyouts were changed recently for the Summit and MVFC. Am I mistaken? -
The snap? From the far end zone angle it looked like it was behind the holder; the holder seemed to have to "pull it out of his ear". The hold? Clearly off. The top nose of the ball was pointing at the kicker. The kick? He hit the ball high which is why it never really got off the ground. (You have to strike low for it to get up.) But wait ... there's more ... freshman snapper, freshman holder, freshman kicker ... first attempt ever by that trifecta at winning a game. If they're all going to have "learning moments" at least they all had them together at once (rather than over three different attempts).

You want church? Try Proverbs 16:18.

It's called progress. We haven't seen much before this season.

You're a tad behind. The prior coach would go toe-to-toe with moral victories. The current coach does not believe in them ... and he's teaching his team the same. PS - Your name is a misnomer unless you are bipolar. "Alumni" is plural; you would be an alumnus.

They must've had a good couple of days. I swear Sunday (on way to see the Bisons) was more like seven or eight. There are photos in the 2014 season thread.

But still lots and lots of work for the green hats. Day by day.

Walk out to concourse, finish beer, return to seat. Smirk at security.

Massey has Portland as a three point favorite.

I said it before here somewhere: NDSU does nothing exceptional in their offense; what NDSU does is execute the offense they run exceptionally. How do you create a defense to beat that? With the same things: Scheme. Discipline. And run it exceptionally. NDSU took the graduation hit this year on the offensive side (line and new QB). They'll be veterans next year. NDSU takes the graduation hit next year on defense. They lose both starting safeties, three key LBs, and their monster DE. Those safeties are key losses in the Tampa 2 NDSU runs. So looking way, way ahead now it looks to be: - UND's progressing and year-more-mature defense on NDSU's mature offense - NDSU's revamped defense on UND's where-will-it-be-then offense

When did you start getting picky about which defensive coordinator to kiss?

What's disheartening is that: - It took a week to identify this person - That Moorhead PD had this and the murder of Mr. Bearson to look into http://www.inforum.com/content/moorhead-police-learn-identity-dead-man-found-river-last-week It's not supposed to be like this in the Red River Valley.

Much of UND's passing game is now play action based under this offensive coordinator. You can't run play action if the defense doesn't believe you will run the ball.
