  1. Weak, weak, weak. Try something like this: You're such a pitiful soul that you are out at bars by yourself after closing, hitting on females out of your league (by your own admission), getting into alley brawls, fleeing law enforcement, and then giving Jerry Springer worthy confessionals in the back seat of a squad car. That would be an insult.
  2. Someone really just admitted unfamiliarity with the word "secede"? <facepalm>
  3. Since we are playing scenarios that are out there ... Let's say the DU/UNO/Summit gambit happens. That'll probably be a couple years out from now. By then the negative gate impact of Big Ten Hockey will have hit UMn/UW. That means UMn/UW will need something to respark their fan bases (because PSU and OSU won't offer the spark). And now the Big Ten has opened the precedent to affiliate members (Johns Hopkins lacrosse in the new Big Ten Lax). So, I say let DU/UNO try that gambit, and then have UND apply (beg?) the Big Ten to let UND play as a hockey affiliate. Hey, I said "out there" ...
  4. I've had an athletics administator at an NCHC school say as much to me.
  5. If you weren't aware of it, southern Alberta is taking a massive beating right now. High River, AB, Corbin Knight's hometown, is a virtual lake. At least three have died in the flooding. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/story/2013/06/21/alberta-flooding-calgary-canmore-high-water.html The water is up to row nine in the home of the Calgary Flames. https://mobile.twitter.com/Tudec/status/348349538429435904/photo/1 Most of downtown Calgary is flooded. Looks like another time for the good people of Grand Forks to mentor those facing an ugly recovery process. To those of you facing this mess, stay safe.
  6. The referees' whistles are on the side of a milk carton. The non-call on the Frolik trip with 15 seconds to play is just stunning. Basically anything less than manslaughter is no call. Manslaughter is a two-minute minor.
  7. That way is completely easy and predictable: Secede. The NCAA is a completely voluntary association. Secede and create "The SPATT" ... short for Sec, Pac12, Acc, big Ten, big Twelve.
  8. <ding> Winner. PS - That decision will be based not on some wonderful altruistic view of college football, but, quite simply, just The Benjamins.
  9. Observations: - Leddy has been terrible*. Finally "The Q" sits him. - It seems only two types of penalties get called: too many men or high sticks. - Crawford is a headcase on anything high glove right now. Paging Mr. Emery, Mr. Ray Emery ... please report to the blue painted ice ... *and not just because he's a stinkin' Goldie.
  10. The admittedly wonderful looking but will we ever see it drawings of a new football stadium on the site of Memorial did not show a track encircling the field. Those drawings envisioned an outdoor track and soccer area (and second parking ramp) in the area that is now a parking lot east of Columbia Road and south of University. That says to me that (a) there is room for the ITF to come west, and (b) the ITF Phase 2 might be "under" an east grandstand of such a football stadium.
  11. For a group that recently, gleefully told UND fans "the NCAA is a voluntary organization" they sure don't seem to understand that when it could come around and gore their ox (or bison).
  12. So ... not sheep ... <obligatory NDSU shot>
  13. Go to UND. Wear 19 in NHL for Chicago. Win Selke.
  14. Why? The problem concerns me; what comes after is what I'm interested in. This is not Mister Beck's first problem involving alcohol and fleeing from law enforcement. That's my interest. UND has four hockey guys short scholarship dollars for a second alcohol incident that didn't involve fleeing. I'm interested to see how NDSU handles this problem (which also has the overhanging issue of violence/agreeing to a fight).
  15. I thought agreeing to public brawling (aka a bar fight in a back alley) is the definition of "disorderly conduct". Where are those charges for those involved?
  16. Because ABC/ESPN owns the broadcast rights and they marketing (ESPN) what they are producing (on ABC).
  17. Mr. Bohl has a teachable moment. What will he teach.
  18. Guys, I was pointing out that 'the marble' didn't go pocket to pocket in OT like it normally does.
  19. Blackhawks get called for two too-many-men calls in the OTs; I saw the Bruins get a stick up in the face of a defenseman and at least one hold (on Toews) and a trip uncalled. I shake my head at how the NHL game changes (is called differently) in the post-season.
  20. If the lines listed are correct, you'll see Sharp and Bickell swapped by the middle of the second.
  21. Cops can only deal with what they see in front of them, in the middle situations that most of us would want no part of, and try to enforce law. The sort-it-all-out-later belongs to the court system where they sort out and restore order. That's why the TV show is called "Law & Order". I'll say it again: Mr. Beck would be much better off right now if he'd have no history with the court system. Even if he was the victim of an attack a second fleeing charge will probably not be viewed lightly.
  22. Take the month off. Beck has it covered for you.
  23. As in most situations, the truth in all of this will be somewhere in the middle. I suspect we'll find neither was a passive victim nor a willful aggressor; however, the consequences to each will based on their histories. The judicial system tends to look for patterns of behaviors and escalates its response when dealing with recurrences and escalations.
  24. Would we have to start picking up players with unpronounceable, over-consonated last names? Gwoz is too high-maintenance for me. I've named my front-runners if the need came about.
