  1. Really? Let's try to balance that out. Tell them all they have the 1st and 2nd off, but to make up for it have to work double-hard at home on the 8th and 9th.
  2. Play right up to the edge. And battle.
  3. They would fall into that "BTN" criteria also. I think I'll go with that: I predict the next DI hockey startup will be a B1G team.
  4. Just go out there, battle, control what's yours to control, have good energy, every shift, battle and battle. (OK, I just wrote Dave Hakstol's pre-game comments.)
  5. My guess is that the next DI programs will be on BTN. I suspect it'll be Iowa or Northwestern or Indiana.
  6. Under the current rules they'd have difficult time. As a DIII they'd have to follow the DIII scholarship policy -- none -- for even a DI hockey program. That was a change a while back and a few (about six) existing DIIIs playing DI were exempted/grandfathered (i.e. Colorado College).
  7. I suspect it'll give a hidden advantage to the home team. How many road team fans can go to a Sunday night game if they have to go to work on Monday? I'm also trying to figure out if the travel will impact the student-athlete and their class schedule any differently than now.
  8. Many of us have long suspected that there are forces {cough-Al Carlson-cough-cough} in the Legislature looking to eliminate the ND SBoHE and put control of the NDUS more directly under the Legislature, thus making the University System a political pawn. Well, you've been waiting for it and now it's here: http://sayanythingbl...gher-education/ Also from that same article: I wonder who the author was thinking about when they wrote that ...
  9. 1. Tate Maris is the definition of a team player. 2. A team player knows this is a must four points weekend.
  10. I'd love it if you were right; but, unfortunately, if forced to bet I'd bet the under.
  11. I see your "monorail" and raise you (or would that be "slide you") a retractable roof. And of course the monorail would go from Alerus to The Ralph and to "The Roof".

  13. Well, at least now Wisconsin has its version of the "Holy Cross" to bear. RE: the "gorgeous hockey" comment -- I spit up coffee on my leather chair for as he said that the PSU player with the puck made a move and stripped himself of the puck in open ice in the offensive zone. I'm sending the leather cleaning bill to Jim Delaney and Barry Alvarez.
  14. That's half of what they draw when North Dakota goes to Madison. Oh yeah, that Big Ten Hockey is working out great so far, eh Mr. Alvarez?
  15. Unless they were filming "Blazing Saddles II" the lads need to pay better attention in history class ... after their suspensions end.
  16. Figured I'd bring that notion up just to hedge the bet.
  17. U of Chicago used to be a member of Big Ten athletics. When the rest of the Big Ten decided to grow and expand athletics, U of Chicago decided to take a different path.
  18. I think I'll be right on "part B" also, unless they can find a guy who can coach the defensive line (Mannausau's last position responsibility) and has coached special teams and who understands a 3-4 like UND runs. Where might there be a guy like that ...
  19. I've seen the Johns Hopkins thing out there also. From the reseach/CIC/Federal funds notion it makes sense. But the Big Ten has never gone with anything but full members (no affiliates) in the past. That makes me skeptical about Hopkins for now.
  20. Well, I'm claiming "winner, winner, chicken dinner!" We'll see if I can claim it twice. Kotelnicki elevated to defensive coordinator
  21. Yup, the last sentence nails it: The NCAA is "drunk on power and wealth". http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/whitlock-ncaa-university-of-miami-nevin-shapiro-lives-are-ruined-todd-mcnair-ex-usc-assistant-coach-022213
  22. Folks, if you're going to have the conversation, have the whole conversation.
  23. I wish PSU would come to REA just to see all the "Hide your children" signs in the student section aimed at the PSU bench.
  24. When State indoor track comes to the new ITF at UND that'll grind on "Imperial Cass". And it'll grind worse when GFC, GFRR, and G-PR keep dominating ND hockey no matter where the tournament is played.
  25. Back on topic ... here's the official site at UNDSports.com. http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205670444
