Was he waiting for Pooly?

So, what if the 1987 Hrkac Circus played the 2016 CBS crew? What if the game was in the new REA? What if the game was in the old REA? What if Ditka drove the '87 team to the rink (either rink) in a school bus? ---> "Da ...Hawks!" < /my best "Bill Swerski" impression >

You? I pick my own color guy for my play-by-play. -
I don't know. How about you ask these folks.

The sleeper committee would've subpoenaed my records and found that I actually considered Simmonds for my main squad. -

Yeah, I probably would have had to go to the sleeper committee for approval on that one. -

Going strictly by memory here, but I believe Tim's first season broadcasting was where he had to watch the Evil M beat Gino's team in the National Championship. However, a year later he was broadcasting Gino's first title (1980). Think about that: Tim's been on the road every winter the UND hockey team for over 35 years. He's broadcast UND winning six of the eight titles, titles that now span seven decades. If Tim wants to step back a bit and spend some time with his wife and boys, I can't blame him. Hey, he's earned it. However, can I ask that if Tim is looking to slow down can he take the Vin Scully approach? Let someone else go on the road most of the time, but keep doing home games, or maybe television. -
Under the heading of team: Why this team should not have won a title: eleven freshmen <-- think about that ... and smile. Why this team should have won a title: stout, veteran defense; CBS line Under the heading of coaching: Why this team should not have won a title: first year head coach Why this team should have won a title: Brad Berry and his whole demeanor and approach I'll say it again: Thank you ... Dave Hakstol ... for daring to make an easily questioned (and vastly unpopular in some quarters) move to bring Brad back. And thank you Brad Berry for executing the philosophy ("RAISE IT!") and exorcising the demons.

I can't believe I didn't put Wayne Simmonds on this squad. < facepalm > -
Those two posts sum up my thoughts: An endowment, a very large (no annual issues) endowment. Nothing less.
-
Based on today's Herald article, probably ... Want baseball? Endow it. Let's see, .... about a $600k annual budget. At 4% endowment return that means you'd need to raise about $15,000,000.00. Talk is cheap; it takes money to buy whiskey.

First, isn't teaching you about the world (the people you'll meet and the things you'll see) mom's and dad's responsibility? Can I still say "mom" or "dad" or is that not accepting of the diversity of someone with two moms or three dads? Next, why isn't diversity of thought or opinion to be embraced? Where's that on the old "embrace diversity" list? Or is it just the right kind of diversity to be embraced? I said it to PCM over a decade ago and I'll say it again: Some of the biggest bigots I've met are the anti-bigot bigots. -
Many wondered what Hak was doing (questioned) when he didn't renew Eades and then wrote a fairly specific job posting that pointed to basically Brad Berry. I'd say the only smudge on Hak's collegiate resume is Frozen Four performances; however, Hak can lay claim to setting the right man in place to overcome that.

Didn't he win the Richter Award? Last year's winner bolted a year early also. Strike when the iron is hot.
-
You know what I know: I know what Brad Berry did this year was ... unprecedented. Red didn't do it. Saint Jackie Parker? Nix. Hak? Nyet. Jehwey Woork? Nein. Cha-cha-cha-Lucia-pet? Nope. The 'ooch? Sorry, not him either. It hurts, but neither Gino nor Blaiser. Heck, even Herb Brooks didn't pull it off. Brad Berry: the only coach to win the NCAA Championship in his first season. Why are we talking about anyone else.

Jack is a pro. And pros have to eat like the rest of us, and they know which side their bread is buttered on. Also, given the recent/coming market change that is behind Jack's return, that demographic will have a new radio home: Will they still listen to Jack's 740 The Fan show (or the KFGO family of stations)? I suspect those folks will move up the radio dial permanently for their yellow journalism.

Preach on Rev. Schafer! If Montana State can make a special arrangement with the BSC to not carry a core sport (women's soccer) and instead have championship caliber alpine skiing teams, why can't UND make a similar arrangement.

That was my recollection. Strinden Hall is an eye-sore, a blight, on what is otherwise a nice, scenic drive down the heart of campus.

I'm sorry, Professor, but the last thing UND needs right now is more committees studying and doing nothing. Professor, allow me to explain what you're experiencing right now. It's called "leadership". A man (yes, with a big salary, because he's earning it) is stepping up and making tough choices. But he's also standing in front of the crowd answering why he made them, accepting that some will not like them. That's leadership. I figured I needed to explain that because UND hadn't seen much of that (leadership) over the last seven or so years. -

I absolutely love how Ed Schafer removed the easy way out (tuition increases) for the rest of the NDUS. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/4014298-und-community-criticizes-questions-budget-cuts-forum -
109? Lately that's a night for the GSW.
