Agreed. "appreciation." I'm wondering if it was like that in the original or if it was a transcription problem with the Forum. Keep an eye out for it in the Sunday Herald would be my guess.

http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...section=Opinion Please note the letter's author.

Based on this or do you have other knowledge to confirm it?

This may explain "timeliness". dagies: I agree completely. I'd guess only a fraction of even sports reporters could define the difference between a signing and a verbal. DaveK: Brian Williams, Gary Kaiser, Pat O'Leary, maybe if reports are true Aaron Walski: all Fargo North. ;)

USI must have iced the puck 1000 times during that Friday game. That was their strategy to keep the puck away from The Circus. The Saturday game? The Circus was back in town.

I'm wondering about the "signed" part of this too. Normally UND puts out a release about a signed national letter of intent (and we are in an open signing period until August). "Planning to walk on" or "invited to try out" might be what the story should have said. I guess we'll have to keep an eye on FightingSioux.com for official notice if he really did sign.

Bison101, you seem bored, so .... Moose97 on USCHO is a media person (radio?) from Bemidji. He really does call and interview the ADs he mentions when he posts. He called an AAD at Penn State: http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?p=19...enn#post1972026 As far as NDSU, straight from the horse's (and moose's?, meese?, micers?) mouth: http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?p=19...DSU#post1972763 Here you can read up even more on the subject: CHA looking for another team to stay as an eligible conference. http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?t=49507 Penn State to CHA? http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?t=49273 Don't forget: USCHO is a "reverse board". The oldest (first) post is on the bottom of the highest numbered page.

Dean Blais said it best (paraphrased): It be another sport to beat them at. To play hockey you need some key things: - an arena - money NDSU's AD plainly states with their current priorities they don't have either of those for hockey right now. Talking about this is talking about what you're going to do with your PowerBall winnings before you've won.

UND's press release talked about filling The Betty. I hope they do. Then I hope they have to buy larger portable sections for the ends to put the capacity from the 3600 realm into the 4500 realm and fill that consistently. If they max that out, at that point they'd need a place that holds about 5500. Gee, that's about the size of the lower bowl and suite level at The Ralph. I still believe The Betty is the right size to allow for scaling: - Betty ~4000 - Ralph (lower bowl BB) ~5500 - Alerus (BB) ~9000 - Ralph (full BB) ~13000 Quality facilities are like money and goaltending: There is no such thing as "excess" or "too much". And remember: It was only recently that Gonzaga, in a bigger city, moved out of a 4000 seat arena. The Betty is well positioned. Now let work on step 1: Fill it.

First, timbo, release the caps lock key, step away from the keyboard, and keep your hands in plain sight. ;) Read the "Herald" link (above) and you'll have what the rest of us have. I'd guess we'll hear a name by probably May 13 if they hope to have someone in place for the NCC meetings at the end of May.

All games (officially) at The Betty.

Stateofhockey: I'm quite sure he carries the same degree of seriousness shown throughout this entire thread. I'd figured it would take six but the Devils "blew away" the 'canes in five last night. Sorry bigmrg74.

Get in line. ;)

I will not disagree with that. On-campus just seems like a better arrangement for any campus if they can finance the facility. And hey, you have to admit that NDSU would have been "OK" with the scenario McFeely rolled out, namely a new arena and 6000 fans attending a game. petey23: There just seemed to be so many unanswered questions. That and some folks' pure dislike of any tax or tax extension seemed to work against the idea.
-
Deep down inside I still believe that Mike McFeely wasn't too far off on his take on this whole scenario. Please note: The block proposed for this just happened to be across the street from "NDSU Downtown" (aka the old Northern School Supplies building) and a hinted-at parking ramp the city might have built for the arena just happened to be adjacent to that same building. I'm sure "NDSU would be OK with this" too.

Complain about the trap if you will, but the way it set up Parise on that clean breakaway in the second was a thing of beauty. Heck of a nice play by David Hale to get that puck up to him when he flashed open. That iced that game right there. airmail: But the hit was clean. It's not Commie's fault the other guy is a bleeder. And it wasn't the blood as much as replaying about 100 times from every angle.

I thought I heard on the last Sioux Coaches Show that ticket prices were to remain unchanged. FSC membership may be another question entirely.

Why the 2005 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs of course. I still can't believe the Wild missed the eight-seed by one point in that season ending loss to the Blackhawks.

So many open question: - What about building a firestation to replace the one that would be torn down? - Why should the city buy the whole block and then resell part of it to Cityscapes? - The $40 MM only builds the arena. It doesn't build parking, or city infrastructure to support the facility (sewer, water), or the above firestation. - Fargo taxpayers have a $40 MM tax bill for a third HS on the horizon. - Mayor Furness was talking $50 to $100 MM for a water project to ensure that Fargo has an adequate water supply 50 years from now just before this project came to light. And that's just the beginning of the list. Like I said before in here, build a couple of practice sheets way south by where the new HS could go. Then build a "Little Ralph" like in TRF somewhere with good access for everyone in the city. You'll have spent less than half of the money and have more facilities if "ice" is the issue. Another thought: April 2000, Fargo Arena: 63% no. May 2005, Renaissance Center Arena: 71% no. Now what do they do?

Lose the foghorn. Get the siren that was used (sorry folks that lived it) to declare the evacuation of the City of Grand Forks in the 1997 flood. Rip that sucker loose after a Sioux goal. The message to the opponent: We survived that flood; will you survive this one? And it even meets CRR's "unique" criteria.

The Devils had that trapping mojo working pretty well two nights ago. Let's see if they can keep it going tonight.

Not if the person would be an incoming freshman. A school can announce signed if someone signs a national letter of intent. (They can't announce someone planning to walk on.) Plus, even if someone signs, the school can only announce the signing. They can't start using the name in official materials (like rosters) until the person is on campus full time.
