  1. I'm looking at this from a "bodies" point of view. As things stand right now, UND has 9 defensemen, 13 forwards, and 2 goalies on the roster. That's a shorter roster than this season and there were a couple of games this year where every healthy skater was dressed. (A couple of times I thought Jake Brandt was going to have to go for the skater's pads and flash that Can-Am Series offensive prowess in WCHA play. ) And let's look at those numbers more closely: Of the 9 D, one's medical status is an unknown, one (two?) could go professional if the NHL restarts before fall, and two played more games at forward than defense this season. Of the 13 forwards, one is coming off shoulder surgery that cut his season in half, one is fighting through post-concussion syndrome, and one won't be 18 until after the 2006 NCAA title game. And you know they need another goalie. The practice load is just too much for two guys. Now comes the next monkey-wrench: There are only three guys in the class that graduates in May 2006 (Greene, Prpich, Marvin). You don't want to load up another "bubble class" (nine or ten guys) like this year, but you have to be able to put 20 guys onto the ice every night. Hak and his staff are going to earn it this summer.
  2. From http://www.uscho.com/news/2005/01/27_009752.php At 6'2" and 225 he seems a little "thick" compared to other guys on the current UND roster. http://www.bchl.bc.ca/leagues/rosters_prof...&playerID=65682
  3. From the USA Today article (link above): Now note that the WCHA is looking at the issue (PCM post above) and the AD at Minnesota (a school subject to this Big Ten policy) is leading the committee looking at it. My guess is that Kupchella didn't come up with the "disband the student section" idea on his own. My guess is that he heard it from talking to folks at Minnesota and Wisconsin who may be subject to it under Big Ten policy.
  4. You know, I'm surprised fans of a [cynicism] big-time powerhouse DI like NDSU [/cynicism] have time to worry about lil' ol' DII UND and its seven NCAA DI national mens ice hockey titles and $110+ MM hockey and basketball arena complex (Ralph, Betty).

  6. And then there were four .... - Lt. Col. Tom Buning, West Point (Army) associate athletic director - John McCarthy, the athletic director of Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla - Rob Bollinger, the development officer for the UND Alumni Association and Foundation - Al Molde, the Gustavus Adolphus athletic director http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/sports/11529190.htm
  7. You mean like recruiting Zach to get Jordan? No, wait, hold it. Jordie is older than Zach, but Zach came first, but Jordie got us to a title game .... Now I'm confused.

  10. Ol' Obi-Wan better just worry about the fool that followed him and then came and vaporized his Jedi "hind-end". I've been told that PCM played defense. I guess that's the answer to the question of this thread.
  11. "Fool!" - Sgt. Bosco "B.A." Baracus
  12. A year in juniors helped Brady Murray. A year in juniors seems to have helped Ryan Duncan. A year in juniors, expecially since his season ended early with a leg injury, wouldn't hurt Chay Genoway. Fall of 2006 who knows what the needs will be. Will there be early departures?

  14. What? On top, like a wrestling pin. Or underneath the pile with the football. Or behind their defenders on a hockey breakaway. Or standing over your knocked-out opponent in boxing. Or that kind of side-by-side thing in pairs figure skating spins. I just realized they meant what hockey skating position, like forward, defense, or goalie. What were you thinking about.
  15. Agreed. If "ice" and "suitable" is the issue, why not scale back to more like REA TRF size and put up a couple more buildings like the southwest arenas (the ones at I-94 and 45th Street) down in south Fargo (say down on 52nd Avenue by where the new HS is proposed to be)?
  16. Now that I hadn't heard. All I'd ever heard is that Cityscapes wants the arena as an "anchor" for their complex downtown.
  17. You are correct. "Little Ralph" in TRF holds about 3300 for about $15 MM. http://www.reatrf.com/fact.htm
  18. ... or the granite in the entry of the CIA Headquarters? Ask sauce. I only see carpet fibers and granite in those locations. But apparently you now understand the nuances.
  19. I removed the "more" from my original post. It's about having the seat and being able to use it to enjoy the game.
  20. Q: "What positions do the best athletes end up in?" On top, .... or underneath, behind, standing, that kind of side-by-side thing .... huh? What's that you say? Oops, sorry, misunderstood the question.
  21. How is it respectful that people who paid for a seat are forced to stand up?
  22. And the people in the choir robes behind Reverend Diggler all cried, "Amen!" There was another item that the student representatives have finally admitted, at least tacitly, is a problem: You can't fix it until you admit it's a problem. He (Haskins) as much as admitted a problem right there.
  23. Yup. History says this is the most likely scenario. Yup, yup, and yup. I whole-heartedly agree with what I exactly quoted. I'll take the group from Columbus (enthusiastics and good-taste language) representing my alma mater, thank you. Yup, and of course "PCM" is right. Exactly. Now, thinking they'll get four in the lower and two in the upper is madness. Those are money seats. I predict if the students do somehow get four in the lower they'll have no sections in the upper because UND/REA will need to sell those additional upper sections to make up for the lost revenues from more students in the lower. One more thought: Woe to the new AD who has to, on his first day on the job, explain to Varsity, Captains, and Coaches FSC members (who probably picked those seats because they like the corner view of the rink) that they have to move to new seats so the students can stand and swear.
  24. Not quite $1000, but not free either. http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=104038
