  1. Texas Tech fan in boots; North Dakota fan/alumna in pink*. * Yeah, it's a school color, and it looks good, so what's the issue.
  2. Well ... yes. Meghan Mutrie's video audition for Canada's Next Sportscaster.
  3. Someone point out to the Texas Wreck fans that our hotties play soccer and hockey in college and then go on to international rugby play, including surviving and recovering from an injury that would end Graham Harrell's or Michael Crabtree's career. Hotter. Tougher. Be better. Be North Dakota. Meghan Mutrie > (this space intentionally blank as nothing deserves the comparision) Or if you dare ... or double-dare ...
  4. The vast majority of posters on a blog called "Bison Media" are fans of ...
  5. You expect anything better from them? Their own radio voice for football and basketball (and their biggest Fargo media cheerleader) calls them "3rd graders". And he would know them best. My only question: When did they graduate up? That fourth try at 2nd grade must've taken.
  6. It's how they make themselves feel superior when all they really have is six more degrees and no DI championship banners.
  7. North Dakota used it first. Check. Notre Dame trademarked it first. Checkmate.
  8. Please tell me it went past the women's tee.
  9. Reading here and there I guess I'm confused. Some of the initial responses here: No big change. Yet there are so many negative reactions also. If it's no big change, what's the issue? Do these folks not understand that both the Ben Brien logo and an interlocked ND are both official athletics logos? Hockey featured the Brien predominantly; football featured the interlocked ND predominantly (see: helmets). So they tweeked the interlocked ND somewhat. And let's face it folks, they tweeked it. They went from a block outline font to a 3-D pointed serif font. I don't understand the negative reactions in some quarters. Are some thinking that this is the last sign that "Sioux" and the Brien logo are gone and the reaction is based on that?
  10. Didn't the Kellings have their first child recently?
  11. Sweet mother of mercy. Look at that: He's completely collapsing a mattress! Are we sure that a rink, the ice and concrete, would support him? I wouldn't want to forfeit because we broke the rink. Secondly, although I'm happy that stack of grimy towels is there, are we sure it was necessary. It seems he may have "natural cover".
  12. UND is the big boys in DI hockey. Why act small time if the ultimate goal is big time? Show me two "big time" schools that share a common logo. If you aspire to more, you have to start behaving the way those with more behave. "There were all kinds of things I was afraid of at first, ranging from grizzly bears to 'mean' horses and gun-fighters; but by acting as if I was not afraid I gradually ceased to be afraid." -- Theodore Roosvelt
  13. And you thought there was no contact in NHL All-Star games ...
  14. FCS and FBS. Better, what is Grambling aspiring to? I'm guessing they're already there and happy. If you want to be more than you are now you need to be independently recognizable.
  15. You folks are missing the point: Teams at different sports or levels of play share common logos (the "G" for example at the NFL, FBS, and FCS levels). What you don't see are (like I said) Wisconsin and Washington sharing a "W" or Minnesota and Michigan sharing an "M". Notre Dame and North Dakota are at the same level in DI hockey. (OK, "Our Lady" has some work to catch up to North Dakota. ) They shouldn't share a logo: unique identities.
  16. Yup. Here are the course offerings. UND: Lawn-mower tossing, then on to an NHL career. NDSU: Lawn-mowing driving ... so their grads have a post-graduation career. C'mon, it was so-o-o-o-o easy I had to go with it.
  17. You do realize that those statements reveal you know two things (but probably haven't admitted them to yourself): - The votes at Spirit Lake and Standing Rock don't favor your point of view. - You are choosing to stand petulant, a sign of either irrationality or immaturity, in the face of those votes.
  18. But NDSU doesn't offer late-night street lawn mower tossing.
  19. Cincinnati's Reds and Chicago's Bears use a similar "C" but different sports. (Concordia in Moorhead, MN, uses it also.) Green Bay and Georgia use a similar "G", but again, different (pro/college) contexts. The goal is unique identity and identification. Today's quiz: Name two major players in a single professional or single NCAA DI sport that "share" a common logo. The one I come up with is the interlocked ND used by Notre Dame and North Dakota. If it's no big deal, why don't Washington and Wisconsin use the same "W" and Michigan and Minnesota use the same "M". The goal is unique identity and identification.
  20. Mr. Murphy, the top primary election vote-getter, by more votes than second and third combined mind you, is the former tribal chair at Standing Rock. He was a multi-term chair before His Horse is Thunder was elected. Since his time as Standing Rock Chair, Mr. Murphy was nominated for the ND State Board of Higher Education by ND Governor Hoeven. Clearly, Mr. Murphy has some standing with political figures in Bismarck and must understand how the political game in Bismarck is played. That seems more like the people of Standing Rock are picking someone who will be able to foster better, less antagonistic, relationships with the governor's office and the legislature and other state bodies. That seems like a great opportunity for Standing Rock. So, exactly how would any of that have "repercussions" of a "serious" nature for the people of Standing Rock?
  21. Like I said, the old sheet had the same "use in conjunction with" guidance. I believe UND used it first, but "Our Lady" trademarked it first. That's why UND had to have the "use in conjunction with". Personally, I'd rather not have a logo that makes people ask (and I've heard this), "Why do you guys have a Notre Dame logo on your shoulder?" There's nothing wrong with freshening it up in conjunction with the DI transition.
