  1. Ding! Ding! We have a winner.
  2. Reality check time hockey fans (of which I am one): If Minnesota and Wisconsin so desperately need UND, why are they leaving the WCHA for the Big Ten? Riddle me that.
  3. The people at these other institutions (NCAA, BSC, pick the university) will believe what they want to believe and they believe they are right, no matter Al Carlson, Drew Wrigley, or Jack Dalrymple. They'll do what they want. Nothing forces them to schedule UND. And do you really think if UND were to take on the NCAA and win these schools would then want to schedule UND? After beating the NCAA? We're on a collision course with pariah status either way (keep the name or beat the NCAA).
  4. Oh, and as far as a moniker, what're the Governor and the AG going to do, send all of UND to the state pen for not using the Sioux name? Seriously? The new moniker is clear ... call us ... The Outlaws.
  5. That's easy: Enjoy the best kind of victory. And what's that? Well, they think they're leaving us for dead. The best revenge is to come back stronger than ever and continue to beat them, at their game, by their rules, on their field.
  6. Folks, this one is done. Suck it up. Get over it. Move on. The NCAA isn't going to budge. Wisconsin and Minnesota won't come near us when they are out of the WCHA (nor will they in other sports). The Big Sky is stating what are some pretty obvious observations from where they sit. And I'm thinking the Big Sky feels misled because the change process was underway when they took in UND. Now, given the Legislative action, they just feel taken. At this point UND is just in a terrible bind between state law and the NCAA settlement. UND can't become a pariah, and given all of the above, it's on the fast track to that. It's done.
  7. Thank you for your opinion, but allow me one question on it: If they don't want to fly to the eastern Dakotas, why'd they take UND and USD in the first place?
  8. Until they have a mini-firestorm erupt on their campus ala Texas Tech. And trust me, the Jeanotte-heads of the world will be there (figuratively) tossing matches.
  9. Whatever they do I sure hope they don't do the fadish, tacky, Boise State, Eastern Washington, "match the turf to school colors" thing ... oh, ... wait ...
  10. Worthless stat of the day (heard on radio while driving to work): Home teams that win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals win the Cup 86% of the time. (Sorry Goon and Ray77.)
  11. This would be a heck of a conversation starter at some cocktail parties: Everything you've heard about fossil fuels may be wrong.
  12. In the eyes of the NCAA lying to them is far worse than any violation in their volumnous "thoust shalt not" journals.
  13. So, ... this probably wouldn't be a good time to recommend a plan to send Devils Lake water to the dry areas in the western part of the state ...
  14. Seems the Thrashers really will be flying to Winnipeg. Press conference in Winnipeg at 11 today. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/205144/
  15. Do enjoy reading this: 18. RC Rocco Grimaldi
  16. OK folks, here's how it works: Just because someone uses unapproved language in this forum is not cause for all of you to reply (copy) it and effectively repeat it. Just report it using the "Report" button. The posts have been dealt with, as will the initial offender.
  17. Seats are great; view is fine; but when the offensive linemen start to get "ripe" later in the game ...
  18. That's about 10 more years than I pegged him for.
  19. Uh, ... not to be picky, but we asked for the full list and not just the top two.
  20. If UND moves football back on campus, the Alerus Center would be perfect for UND Basketball and The Betty is perfect for volleyball (and soccer training space). </pie-in-the-sky glasses>
  21. That's easy: Six inches of height and 35 pounds.
  22. I'm going to keep asking: Is the NCAA a state actor based on this 2002 Supreme Court ruling? (The last time the NCAA was challenged on this front was 1999.) What's a "state actor"?
  23. You've just explained why they won't back down.
