RedFrog
With the current situation, 8 WCHA teams and a whole bunch of them in the 10-14 range, there is no way they give us AHA/CHA first game, we would get stuck with a WCHA opponent the first game. By only taking this into consideration, the conclusion appears to be there are only 6 teams in the whole country that can compete with the WCHA. stickboy1956
I'm too lazy to look back at other threads - who has the tie breaker if CC and UND finish tied in points?
brianvf
After the UMN win, the PWR looks like this: 1 Michigan (CCHA) 2 New Hampshire (HEA) 3 North Dakota (WCHA) 4 CO College (WCHA) 5 Miami (CCHA) 6 Denver U (WCHA) 7 Clarkson (ECAC) 8 Mich State (CCHA) 9 Boston Coll (HEA) 10 St Cloud (WCHA) 11 MSU-Mankato (WCHA) 12 Minnesota (WCHA) 13 Wisconsin (WCHA) 14 Minn-Duluth (WCHA) 15 Bemidji State (CHA) 16 Army (AHA) Which would make for these regionals: Worchester: UNH Clarkson SCSU BSU Madison: Mich MSU BC UW Albany: UND DU Mankato Army Springs: CC Miami UMN UMD Even with 8 WCHA teams in, still only 2 first round matchups with CC/UMD and DU/Mankato. captsioux
My guess at the ncaa brackets Albany 4) Army(AHA) vs. 1) UND (WCHA) 3) Mankato vs. 2) Clarkson (ECAC) Colorado Springs 4)Bemidji St (CHA) vs. 1)CC 3)BC vs. 2)Denver Madison 4) Wisconsin vs. 1)Michigan (CCHA) 3) Minnesota vs. 2) Michigan St Worchester 4) Minn-Duluth vs. 1) New Hampshire (HEA) 3) St. Cloud St. vs. 2) Miami (OH) What do you think? Big A HG
I guess I don't have any complaints. Madison would be an ABSOLUTE BEAST, haha. Give that one to Michigan. If you flipped UM and UND, that'd be bad news bears for us. West regional sets up a little like last years in Denver...not as scary, but equal amount of talent IMO. Wouldn't UND be in Madison since they are now the overall #1 and would get the closest regional?
Big A HG
One thing that there is to consider with the PWR is the fact that Miami has only played 9 TUC's. With another win against a TUC, they will win the comparison over UND and CC, putting them at 23 points, Michigan at 23, us at 22, UNH at 22, at CC at 20. That would make the 4 #1's Miami, Michigan, UND and UNH in that order, right?
fargosioux
Wouldn't UND be in Madison since they are now the overall #1 and would get the closest regional? Under this scenario, they wouldn't send UND to Madison because Wisconsin would be the highest #4 seed plus they would be playing at home. If they did, they would be giving the top overall seed the toughest first round matchup. I think our best chance of avoiding Madison and Colorado Springs is to somehow hold on to the #1 spot in the PWR.

The Whistler
In a desperate attempt by Inside College Hockey to obtain relevency before the playoffs, they have acknowledged UND as the best team in the country. This setup would be closer to the "true bracket' but I don't think it would make sense to have Mich and UNH criss-cross the country. The reason UND is in Albany is to protect the #1 overall seed. If Wisco falls out of the tournament, UND would go to Madison, if they stay #1 overall.
