star2city
Is Van Zee a firm commitment? No. The Billings paper has confirmed the Quesenberry commitment but not Van Zee. http://www.billingsgazette.net/articles/20...quesenberry.txt The Montana State board scoop is that offensive lineman are not being recruited by MSU this year, so neither Montana State or Montana were options. UND92,96
One thing I'm watching for is whether UND gets another commitment from somebody outside the usual recruiting area. Lennon said awhile back that there were some kids from outside the usual recruiting area with ND ties that were being recruited. Obviously Ankenbauer was one, but at least at that time it appeared there could be another.
sultan
I too have been hearing some very positive things about recruiting this year. Some people thought this might be one of the toughest years. With the great recruiting class we are assembling this year it really makes the future look very bright. In another year when Dale Lennon has a lot more money to work with..LOOK OUT.... Dale can out recruit almost anybody when the playing field is level. Go Sioux.

GeauxSioux
I see this list keep growing, which is great, but how many scholarships are available? Are we getting near capacity? Also, I don't see too many ND kids on the list. Is this a down year for ND HS football?

I'm not sure exactly how many scholies are available, although the departing senior class was large so it's probably more than usual. I've heard that this recruiting class will probably be somewhere around 21. In terms of uncommitted North Dakotans, there's Mitch Kudrna from Dickinson, Doug Varty from Williston, Tyson Schatz from Minot and perhaps Nick Bylin from Adams-Edmore, among others. I know Kudrna has visited UND, but may choose to stay close to home and attend Dickinson State.
The Sicatoka
A brief (over)analysis of these reports: In 2006 the signees brief listed 3 specialists, 3 skills, and 13 heavy recruits. In 2005 the signees brief listed 2 specialists, 6 skills, and 17 heavy recruits. In 2004 the signees brief listed 1 specialists, 12 skills, and 8 heavy recruits. In 2007 the verbals so far seem to be 2 specialists, 7 skills, and 6 heavy recruits. * specialists: QB, P, K skills: RB, WR, TE, DB heavy: OL, DL, LB
The Walrus
It's kind of interesting that according to an Augie fan on the d2football.com board, Anderson had committed to Augie about a week ago. I have no idea whether that's true or not. My concrete sources tell me that he visited Augie and liked it, But liked UND better and is committed to come be a Sioux. The scholarship offer for DeAngelo Anderson has now been withdrawn by UND.... Apparently DeAngelo did commit to both Schools and Both Head Coaches, I am told he is a good kid and that the Sioux did want him.....His high school coach is a Augie alum.........But as of now UND has withdrawn their scholarship offer. If he does end up at Augie will remain to be seen....

I agree with the decision, though.

FutureSioux
That ankenbauer kid is the nephew of gene and carolyn roebuck. His fathers side of the family grew up in north dakota. From what people remember his father was quite the athlete. Seems like a good kid to have?

I wrote it for WisFootball.net and they swiped it and stuck the info in their list. Anyways, a short little blurb on each kid: Goska - great athlete....looks like a safety at the college level. Good option QB. Rose - could play a couple of different positions, but will start out at QB. Star player at a small school. Murray - one of the best RB's from NW WI in recent years. Was close to setting career record marks for that portion of the state but missed a few games this year. Simmons - big offensive lineman who was recruited by the big boys early. Blocked for all-american John Clay. Bryant - good defensive back at a football powerhouse. Had great coaching in high school and will continue to improve.
