From the Green Mill, it's the Fighting Sioux Coaches' Show with UND hockey coach Dave Hakstol and hosts Tim Hennessy and Scott Swygman.

TH: Coach Dave Hakstol joins us to talk about the upcoming series at Mankato. The Sioux have been practicing at the Olympic rink all week. After sweeping UND at home, Maine moved into first place in the polls.

I always hate playing Mankato. For whatever reason, they always play the Sioux tough. On paper, it almost always seems like it should be a relatively easy sweep series, but in reailty, in never turns out that way. That's life in the WCHA though. Thanks for the great recap PCM!

Is Phil injured, I hadn't heard anything about that. I understand Hak not starting Phil, but if he isn't injured Hak must have a lot of trust in his two less experienced goaltenders to not even bring him along. It also kind of sounded like Hak thought Phil hadn't taken advantage of the opportunities he'd been given. Any clarification on it all?

Phil was injured at practice on Tuesday.

I don't think anyone has been told what type of injury it is, at least that is what I got from Brad's blog.

and we will not know unless someone happens to see phil and notice whats wrong with him :glare:

Best part of my Wednesdays. Thanks, PCM!

I agree, Siouxdonyms. Mankato always scares me. I've been in Mankato with dominant Sioux teams that got killed, and I've been in GF with stronger Sioux teams that still struggled. I haven't watched much success against Mankato in person, and I'm a little gun-shy about Friday night. But I'm still looking forward to it.

Well we have two forms of adversity here: Goal scoring drought and injuries to key players. Let's see if Forney can bring something. I like a Fabian-Martens-Forney line, though really, I'm not sure if that's a scoring line.

As for Grieco and Walski, this is their big chance. Who will be the bona fide #2? If Walski gets the nod and plays well and Grieco gets the nod and plays subpar, it could really tell us what the pecking order is. No, even with the subpar play vs. Maine, I still think that Phil is the #1.

i say the only way walski gets any action is if grieco is really bad friday if he gets the nod which i think he will. not a slam on walski at all but grieco was brought in to be a #1 in the near future so i see the sioux rolling with him until phil is back or he is very very bad. if he proves himself which is a IF, we will have a 2 man goalie system again which is never a bad thing if both are very good. last season seems like the 1st year in a while where 1 goalie takes over for the majority for the sioux. excited to see a new goalie in net for this weekend so lets give him som support with goals. on the other hand, a little nervous as neither of them have played 1 minute of regular season NC$$ action..oh well go siouxxxxxxx

During the coaches show they were talking about a game in Mankato where Denver was up 7-1 and then ended up losing 8-7... does anyone know when that was? I was telling one of my friends about it and so now I'm interested...

Don't quote me on it, and I have no link as proof, but I heard that Phil sprained his ankle during practice this week.
