The Sicatoka
Hellevang's leg seems almost too strong right now and it's affecting his accuracy. (Glas had the same 'curse'.) Watch Hellevang warm up and you know that he's one (minor) adjustment away from being Peterka III: The Saga Continues. (Glas was Peterka II: The Sequel.) Am I concerned? Yes. Do I trust the coaches to help him find that adjustment? Yes.
bincitysioux
What do you mean, now? I've been worried since the CWU game.
CoteauRinkRat
Yes, we need to get him some chances and get his confidence up, because we will need those big kicks from him as the season goes on.
UND Fan
.......or when we (almost) lose a game because of it? I sure hope that Hellevang is just getting off to a slow start and, that after making a couple of FGs, his confidence will return and he will be a respectable kicker for us. If not, I don't know where we stand. The only other place kicker on the roster is Matt Buckalew, for EGF. However, the backup on the depth chart is Alex Nicholas. His bio indicates he was all-conference as a kicker his senior year. Anyone know anything about either of these guys' kicking ability? The Sicatoka
Isn't Reggie "54 yarder in high school" Stecher a redshirt on the roster? Pulling that redshirt would be last ditch. But folks, we're far from there. Hellevang's been given some not-so-nice kicks to try to make so far. He'll come around. Watch him kick in warm-ups. You'll see why I'm confident in him. teamsioux
I wish Lennon would of have let Hellevang kick the FG when they were up 28-0? in 1st half from about 45 yds instead of going for the fake. Absolutely no pressure, perfect conditions....meaningless either way. Good way for him to get his confidence, he has the leg for the distance. It might take a while to get him a gimme or it might be in a pressure situation. That would have shown that Lennon had confience in him. sioooux
Worried? Ya, everybody worries about their kicker whether its high school, college, or professionals. Anything can happen when the kicker is in the game. I say if you have to rely on your kicker to win the game, you don't deserve to win the game. I have confidence in him, he's young, just gotta have faith.

I agree 100% we have to remember that brandon is only a freshman! letting him kick that field goal and making it would have erased those mistakes in Ellensburg in my book.
