A few names to remember on that list.
Hopefully UND is in on a few of them, as I suspect that they are.
DuPont is massive...possibly more so than McKenna...as I'm guessing that there's a good chance that DuPont plays 2 years in NCAA as a smaller Dman, while most would bet that McKenna is one and done.  If Chyz can land DuPont, all bets are off.  :)

Does bringing in an elite offensive dman who likes to carry the puck turn off elite Fs?  especially centers who end up covering...

No. They should like it as their points will go up.

I posed the question, because I disagree with that.  I think elite Fs want D that move the puck and cover the back end as opposed to carrying the puck and trying to create through the neutral zone

nothing more fun than stopping at the blue line and waiting fro dude, then covering his point

You’re right…but there’s more to it. Sure some of these offensive dmen like their ozone entries…but more and more offensive dmen are headmanning pucks and flashing their offensive abilities within the ozone…not just trying to Bobby Orr every situation

I'd imagine most forwards would love to play with a dman of DuPont's skill.  He's only going to get them more points out there and help win games.
Similar to the role that Buium played for DU.  Or Hutson(s) for BU.

I'd imagine if you're a slob in your own end it might start annoying teammates, but Dupont from the shifts i've seen doesn't appear to fall in that group. (Kris Letang however....)

I digress....both Dupont and Letang for that matter are pretty special hockey players : )

Letang wasn't anywhere close to the progression point of becoming Letang when he was 16. DuPont's floor is Letang, his ceiling is just below Makar IMHO.

WJC two time gold medalist, Norris finalist, 7-8 time all star, 3 cups…DuPont will need to be all that’s advertised if Letang is his floor…I’m sure I’m missing some Letang accolades too :)

They keep crowning guys earlier and earlier.  I'm sure Dupont is a complete stud.  Letang is though too.  I mean Eckblad was exceptional status and he is a very good NHLer, not great.

DuPont could be better than Mckenna

Looking back at last year’s recruiting cycle, it looks like most of the top players committed within the first week. I looked at the top ten players’ commitment announcements and at least half were within the first couple of days. McKamey and Berchild waiting until October and September. The other seven commitments were made in August.

Dayne Beuker is still uncommitted and was third on Schloss’ list. It’s going to be interesting to see when he commits. It seems like UND is hard after him. He does not follow any college hockey accounts that I had noticed other than Bryn.

Crazy that he hasn't committed yet!
Nice recent article about Dayne and his family...no mention of any NCAA schools or what he plans to do after his NTDP stint though.

He has visited campus also. Back in the spring. Need this one bad.

I did not know about the visit.

I really want Beuker. He’s a great skater and would likely solidify our forward group coming in next year.

I always thought this was a situation where it is just a matter of time before he commits but the longer things take I do start to wonder.

We will see, I do not know what would be holding him up. A few high end guys have interest in coming to UND in a year. I’m sure one or two will commit. It just might not be Beuker.

The great thing now is that there really aren't any excuses to have down recruiting cycles. Talent pool is huge and North Dakota has tons of advantages in Western Canada. There's pressure knowing you have to hit home runs in recruiting every year, but you love having that high standard. New staff is poised to have a big August 1 cycle.

Viggo bjork is a really interesting name on Schloss’s list of euro players. Think he’s a guy that would be able to play college this year and definitely hold his own.

As Schloss mentioned, his brother Wilson Bjorck is committed to Colorado College. Imagine Viggo, a likely top 10-15 pick, ends up at Colorado College. Would be wild

I love that this staff leaves no stone unturned. It will be August before the roster is completed for next season. They could have easily picked up a bunch of mediocre transfers in April and moved on. Instead, it seems like they have kicked every tire to give us the best possible chance to compete next year.

I’m really looking forward to what this recruiting cycle brings. I am expecting a couple of “local” kids mixed in with some high end Western Canadians. Getting a nice player from East of Lake Superior would be awesome too.
