Pridham would have been a nice middle 6 forward, but this allows them to really big game hunt over the summer. Wonder which of the unsigned, uncommitted CHLers that were just drafted have been pursued by Boston University. Quote

"I've coached college hockey for 25 years (13 winning seasons, baby!!). I'm a whole 6 games over .500. I have one regular season title to my credit, but two conference tournament titles. I've actually coached a team in the Frozen Four, but sadly, never in a national championship game. Hop on the train." Jeebus, the guy was 44-109-7 as a college hockey player. 12 seasons at Penn St. and his team has finished the regular season in the top half of the conference exactly twice. Once was the 2019-20 covid regular season title, and the other was a third place finish out of six teams in 2015-16. If I'm recruiting against PSU, I'm throwing those numbers out there and asking recruits, "how much money do they have to pay you to get used to losing?" Or, maybe, "Come to Penn St. You can be fourth player from our University to ever play in the NHL!!" 2 Quote

Wouldn't he want just one memorable, entertaining college year in front of the best fans in the best rink, before he hits the 'big time'? Just wishful thinking I suppose. I tend to think that way as well, but remember that these kids are extremely competitive, always wanting to be best of class. NIL is real money, but it is also perceived as evidence of class rank. 1 Quote
nascar99 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Nebraska Omaha loading up on former Dub, current USports players. Makes sense with their coaching staff's background. Quote

Another really good addition for Nebraska Omaha: Trevor Wong (2003), who had a really good career in the Dub before a solid freshman year at University of Saskatchewan in USports. Quote
brianvf Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Wonder how many years some of these guys will have left of eligibility? Is one year of USports equivalent to one year of NCAA...so he'd have 3 years of eligibility remaining? Wong put up fantastic numbers his last two seasons in WHL but then only got 21pts in 28gp in USports. Will be interesting to see how all these USports players work out for UNO...could work out fine or could backfire on them. That Wong kid is tiny...5'9" and less than 160lbs? Zmolek is gonna crush that kid into the stands. Quote

I think Nebraska Omaha is going after a market inefficiency: almost no one else is heavily recruiting former CHLers littered throughout USports, and with the Mavericks coaching staff being mostly Canadian, they have connections throughout the junior and university hockey world up there. Much easier winning a recruiting battle for Brett Hyland and Trevor Wong as opposed to winning a recruiting battle for Blake Vanek or Mason Jensen for example. Plus, they're getting older guys for the most part. Quote
brianvf Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Is UNO going to be the oldest team in the NCAA? This is just wild. Quote
nascar99 Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Does anyone know if Tennessee State is actually going to play in 2025-26? No tweets from their official Twitter account nor from their head coach's account since early/mid May... Quote

Of their committed recruits only two I saw go to other schools. Find out closer to September is my guess. The school did just spend millions on something, can't remember what it was 2 Quote
