what the offense can do next year

It's been so long that i can't remember - remind me what our situation is at QB next year.

I like the room for next year. Transfer from San Diego State looks to be the part and I’m also a believer in Kaminsky as well. Return Romfo as well but don’t think he will win the job.

SDSU playa is huge. Definitely can tell who he was at the ball game against ndsu

5 DTs probably needs to be 7 with 5 at 300 lbs and higher.   The defense reads like the roster in Major League, Who are these......?  The D rebuild  I'm afraid could be a 2 year process.  Hope to finish middle of the road next season and then be in top 3 in League the following season.

Also, could be looking for a RB in the portal unless some of the WRs can provide for a Slash type option to take a few carries.  We have Z, Seidl (who missed games with injury), then 2 Freshman.  It's thin at RB.

I have a feeling the roster is going to look VERY different for fall camp. Jobs and roster spots are on the line this spring.

The defense couldn’t get much worse than the past few years considering they were near the bottom of the league in most categories. Glad to hear they’re probably bringing in some new DTs. Win in the trenches! Secondary should be solid. Lotta questions elsewhere

Getting excited for Spring ball. In the transfer portal era, there's essentially two off-seasons. I place a tremendous amount of value on transfers that are on campus and participate with spring ball. The depth chart that follows, giving the coaching staff a good idea of where they are at. Losing key players after spring ball to the portal is a killer. So far, off-season #1 was the best we've seen (portal out vs in). If they can replicate this spring, I think they can make waves year 1.

I would argue we need more portal-out and hope it's not the good guys.  But there are only a small group of them

2 year process could happen, sure, but still not the expectation. Need to hold to a high standard from the start. I think a rapid turnaround should and will happen.

How long will SS.com be down if Simon comes out of spring camp with the nod?  So be it, as long as in game changes and reps for the others are utilized.  But yeah, looking forward to the new dudes calling Omaha,  Omaha.

Simon won’t be participating in spring ball because on an injury

We return a lot on offense and can build of that. I think if the defense is even average next year that’s a win for us.

Coming out of spring ball with the nod won’t be a thing. It’s all about fall camp.

I would include continued progress over the summer going into fall camp.

Johnson will be QB1 no matter what. Romfo will be QB2. Those two will battle with two different styles. Spring ball is meaningless to this team. Most decisions are made already. Don’t expect any starters or close to starters leaving. Expect a couple D transfers still coming in.

If Johnson is not starting, we are getting fleeced

Only if he earns it and Schmidt and Freuchte think he gives them the best chance to win. He can prove himself during spring ball, his summer work and continuing to prove himself next fall. The same opportunity is there for the other 3  QB’s.
Johnson appears to have the skills schools are looking for, but whoever starts will need to earn the job.

Probably wouldn’t be that confident in predicting the future, but it’s okay to predict that Javance Tupouata-Johnson will be the starting quarterback come August 30th (talent does in fact matter). That is my prediction as well, but Romfo, Kaminski, Sulik, etc. will get their shot.

You are correct. I am not a coach for UND and I cannot guarantee any future events. Thanks for clarifying.
