In the first half AJ was visibly frustrated, but he never attacked the refs. He kept his always calm composure and used his experience to swing the game. He switched things up in the third and well, the rest is history. I am sick of Mal, game after game, the entire game, attacking the refs. Did she get that from being around Brewster? I wouldn't want to be a ref at one of UND's games if you have to take that verbal abuse every game. Are we seeing vengeful calls now? She needs to step back and start looking at her coaching inadequacies instead of constantly blaming the reffing. There is more talent on this team than we are seeing, these ladies deserve better. It’s almost like Mal feels she needs to attack to refs to assert her self what has Mal done in her head coaching career Quote
UND1983 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Plus on top of all that she looks like she just woke up some games. Quote

To be fair I did think we got a few calls that were questionable and I dont mind a coach standing up for her players. AJ has been in this league long enough that he always gets a few calls. Plus I think half his practices must be teaching the girls how to flop. The slightest touch and they are on the ground like a truck hit them. I have seen that many years of his players, not just this year. Refs in womens basketball dont like a girl falling hard and usually call a foul. My opinion. 1 Quote

Couple good years with a high school team. We hire her and then extend her after many years of terrible teams. Quote

Flopping and exaggerated facial expressions seam to still work on refs. One minute a player (B. Meyer last night) is holding her face ready to cry and less than a minute later, laughing. She accomplished her goal! I have absolutely nothing against a coach disputing a call. However, I feel it's the means in which they deliver it, that gets results. Yelling at the refs cross court is disruptive and demeaning to some, not to mention the players themselves. Sometimes a little subtle diplomacy goes a long way. Mal displays a mean attitude all the time and it's not doing her any good. Maybe she should try a little sugar? Just my two cents. 1 Quote

You are right I do think Mal does look very angry out there and does complain about every call. When you do have an actual legit gripe, refs wont listen to you. Yes BOTH Meyer girls are huge floppers and get away with it. We had the Big Meyer center in foul trouble last night. Prime opportunity to get her fouled out and we didnt take advantage of it. 2 Quote
ND-fan Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 My opinion Mal has learned nothing in her tenure as coach here when putting game plan or making adjustments to counter attack opposing coaches moves. I could believe point that assistant coaches aren’t doing there jobs but I think it’s case of head coach countering what your teaching and rewarding bad performance by playing players when they keep making these mistakes. To point of you as assistant just follow her lead. The reason I don’t believe it’s the assistants in Mallory tenure we have been through three different sets of assistant coaches. This problem is at the top and has gone on way too long. Chaves made this hirer which was mistake which we know now but big mistake was extending her contract for several years. President Armacost needs to step in at athletic department fix the department we need higher standards on performance not just student performance in classroom and community service but that we expect winning on consistent basis. then we need to compensate these individuals well and provide all resources so they can be successful. We have problem when we have loosing streaks of 5 to 10 years against our conference opponents and gap is not even closing with these opponents. I think this has to start at top of the department we have done this on academic side it needs to be done on athletic department. Quote
ND-fan Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 Larkins today had 47 against NDSU but the Bison won by 10 with controlling rebounds and only committing 9 turnovers proving we could have beat USD if we could control the basketball. The game is about winning shooting possessions and shooting good enough percentage to win basketball games. I watched SU game to see how they would play South Dakota. Quote
ND-fan Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 I am too!! I am so frustrated and if I can see why we’re loosing why can’t division I coach see it and if not that Athletic Director who responsibility is to have winning programs. Quote
NDRoots4Life Posted February 13 Posted February 13 They look very flat and unorganized today, not a very pretty game to watch. Hoping it improves. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Down 37-21 to st Thomas at the half yea our shooting sucks tonight including free throws getting outrebounded turnovers are better than bad abrahim has four blocked shots we have zero bench points Quote
NDRoots4Life Posted February 13 Posted February 13 we're so excited we actually run plays and score that we forget to hurry back and play defense Quote
NDPROUD Posted February 13 Posted February 13 This is so depressing...this team has regressed. 1 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I gotta think a new coach would make a positive change 2 Quote
UND1983 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I remember being told the girls LOVE Mal when her interim season was over with. They all want her to get the job. that is reason #84 why you don’t listen to the current players ever. Quote

I’m sure there’s an example but seems like it rarely works out. 2 Quote
ND-fan Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 The season is almost over and I am hoping for the end something I never would have wished before but plain fact is I just want to see if we’re going to finally make a change in coaching. I thought tonight ST. Thomas has been just four seasons in conference now they are sweeping us in conference season. I look at this basketball team they deserve better coaching and I believe if they had better coaching we battling for third in the conference. Hard to know how much better we could be but I know we have enough talent to reach that high. Chaves if he does nothing should also be fired but way it looks to me he has decision on basketball teams and may have to address hockey too if we do not make the tournament. This after football and women’s soccer changes. The whole athletic program is in mess we don’t have one winning program for the year. 2 2 Quote
NDPROUD Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Most coaches change things up the second time through their League schedule. There has been no coaching changes here the second time through with declining results. What possible results can they expect?? Don't they think the opposing coaches haven't figured this out? We're being out coached! It's hard to imagine at this rate we win anymore games, which is very sad. The girls do deserve better! 2 1 Quote

gfhockey Posted February 13 Posted February 13 But atleast she can yell at the refs and not get td up 2 Quote

ND-fan Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 We play the bison tomorrow night what are peoples thought on the game. I thought we might have had chance if Bison had played SDSU better on Wednesday night but I have feeling Jory going to have them motivated by there poor play Wednesday. If we play like we did Wednesday the game will be over at half time. I expect Demers to have better game around but the problem will be if we can control basketball. Second if we run any offense but will we play one on one offsense with very little assists and scoring coming individual basis. My guess we loose by 16 to 24 points. Chaves and Armacost got to be there unless they both travelled with hockey team. If they are there I hope they attention.to product and quality play compared to what we have to the Bison because both coaches have been in charge same amount of time. This should show we need a change at top. Quote
