sprig Posted February 1, 2005 Share Posted February 1, 2005 This week's bracketology, with 3-2-1 bonus. Sioux have flipped back into the midwest region. I like the Sioux there, they have been the better team in the 3 CC games I've seen, and reportedly the most dominating performance was the one I didn't see (1-0 loss). Of course they just won 1 of those 4, so getting past Harvard may be harder than it seems (getting past anyone without scoring is hard). Both western regions "seem" a bit easier than the east regions. Hard to imagine the change from dominating CC to being dominated by BSU in consecutive games. Not too much time left for the Sioux to break out. Would seem it has to start this weekend. Plus, if they make the NCAAs they play in Mariucci (host school). No matter what happens, what seed they come in as, with that Mariucci Regional site Goldie is dangerous until they are put away for the season. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think you're right that there is no way they won't make the tourney. BUT, they do have the weakest remaining schedule in the WCHA. I believe Wisconsin is their only TUC left. Then if they finish third or higher, they'll be playing another weak opponent in the first round. I get a feally that those PWR numbers will be slipping for them. FightingSioux Posted February 2, 2005 Share Posted February 2, 2005 Unfortunately, the piece of crap rodents will make the NCAA tourney and yes playing at Mariaucci arena gives them an advantage no matter who they play. However, after Wisconsin, they have a very easy schedule. If they lose to Wisconsin, regardless how they do the rest of the season should see them fall in the Pairwise because of their weak schedule. Which means at least one quality opponent should be slated for the regional at Mariaucci making it not as easy for them to make it to the frozen four. Wisconsin should climb in the pairwise if they continue to win at their current rate because of the quality opponents they play. A sweep by Tech the last weekend of the season would be ohhhh so sweet. Of course, this will all be a mute point when the Sioux get it going and march towards number 8. I just don't see enough teams that will pass them by. Us included. Defeating weak opponents in the conference tourney doesn't count toward a team's RPI, so there would be no affect on their PWR. From the USCHO PWR page: If a team defeats a weak opponent, it is possible for its RPI to go down despite the win. Starting in 2003-04, if this happens in a team's conference tournament, that game can be thrown out of the RPI calculation for that team.
