Smoggy
Do students do any of the late 90's cheers any more? Like the M-I-C-K-E-Y (Mickey Mouse Club theme), or any of the spelling cheers? I went to the ASU @ USC football game, and ASU had all kinds of cheers. Many have swearing, though, so I guess they probably won't work. I really liked their Hey Song cheer. Instead of saying "Hey" during the chorus they said each letter of their name. So A, S, U. Then as the chorus ends they say "We're going to beat the BLEEP out of you." Obviously swear words could be changed.
USA
Do students do any of the late 90's cheers any more? Like the M-I-C-K-E-Y (Mickey Mouse Club theme), or any of the spelling cheers? How about the cheers of the 70's, 80's & early 90's.........Gophers Suc_!! This was the best when the students would start cheering this about 15 minutes before the players came on the ice and wouldn't/didn't stop cheering it until the announced the Sioux line-up. Tell me that wouldn't have an effect on the freshman of the Gopher team as they are listening to that as Lucia is trying to give them a pre-game speech. 01grad
I brought back the minnesota idea thread from last year to help generate some ideas for signs this year. Let's keep the new ideas for this year in this thread. I think after the Sioux win Friday night, we need to see a sign that says Sioux Go-Pher Sweep! YaneA
I made most of the signs last year and passed them out to students willing to hold them up. The Gopher series inspired lots of people to make their own, which was great. I am willing to make signs again this year but I need to know who I can count on to hold them. As far as I know, the usual suspects from last year--Minnesota NorthStar (who sat behind the penalty box last year), Forecheck, Red Wing-- have been dispatched to the Upper Bowl. Any volunteers? dunker2001
I am willing to make signs again this year but I need to know who I can count on to hold them. Any volunteers? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am in the second to last row of the lower bowl, I could hold a few. Also, I know the people that sit in the row right behind the visiting bench and I am sure they would be willing to hold a sign up behind the bench again this year. One of my favorite signs from last year was this one. This one was good too.
YaneA
I may have the Crappie/Crappy sign in the closet. I'm pretty sure I don't have the Briggs looking for his jock sign but I could make another. Thanks, dunker. If you PM me your seat #, I can leave a sign for you and for some friends. These are some ideas that occurred to me. For the inevitable penalty against Matt Greene: "It's Not Easy Being Greene" "Just Pulled a Groin (Possibly His Own)" For three Gophers in the penalty box: "2's Company; 3's a Porno" To counteract the M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A spelling bee: "M-E-D-I-O-C-R-E !" This would work better for Duluth, but they won't be here this year... "Minnesota-- Lake: Superior Team: Inferior" "Gophers: Half-Baked in Alaska" "[Heart] 2 H8 Go4s" "Pre-Fight Checklist: 1. Stick 2. Gloves 3. Shirt" Used this one last year against UAA but also works here: "Gopher: The Other Dead Meat"

dagies
To counteract the M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A spelling bee: "M-E-D-I-O-C-R-E !" I really like this. I think the crowd should spell this out copying the "minnesota" cheer at the end of a win.

Let'sGoHawks!
To call the Minnesota "rouser" gay is one of the greatest understatements in the history of understatements. This is the most idiotic thing in sports today. I love that idea of spelling out mediocre! If only we could get everyone to do it, it would be priceless. You could print up sheets of paper with instructions, and have a few students lead the chant....come on guys and gals, there are some great minds here, make it happen. YaneA
let's see... after we spell out M-E-D-I-O-C-R-E, how would the rest of it go? "So bad! So bad! Go to hell Gophers"?

dagies
I totally disagree about it being a bad cheer. It's one of the best cheers in sports (Although EXTREMELY Annoying to opposing fans). I wish UND had a cheer the whole crowd could share. I agree. I think it's a great cheer. I just love to hate it!

YaneA
"Briggs is to Positioning As Your Sister is to Prom Night" "Gophers: You're Gonna Need These [file labelled "UM Dental Records"]" One side of poster: Picture of the Ralph labelled "Rink" Other side: Picture of Mariucci labelled "Rinky Dink" "Minnesota: The State of Decay" "Minnesota: Land of 10,000 Dinks" This would work better for Wisconsin but I'll throw it out there... Eades: "The Water Bottle is Half-Full"
Green1019
I will make and hold signs i am third row on the bottom. Being that the gophs lost to UAA i hope we can pull off a sweep.
